SJW,maybe one day your memory will return to find your way to the NEW Cradley Heath.
-
SJW surely mentioning Ivor Brown & dudley, you are mistaking Cradley Heath, and Long Eaton. Why? Well Ivor rode for Cradley, and is in Dudley but i agree the facilities at both tracks were similar, and i can understand that memories get longer.

I believe that Bruce said his eldest is 21,and is the brains in the family, then he has a 17 year old who rides must be Ryan,he does moto cross, and then young Connor who does moto cross, but has dabbled with speedway causing quite a stir by all accounts,Bruce said Ryan was a little envious of the publicity Connor had received, and was now showing an interest in speedway.

Just goes to show how persons opinions differ,I,and my wife were slightly dissapointed with Saturday night, maybe because Dan the Man was cut off before he really got going, maybe it was because of the few questions from the floor. I felt the evening was a poor attempt at a stagemanagement,I know full well had Bruce arranged it the show would have been better,as he is the ultimate proffesional, and still full of charisma. We both felt we paid Ten pounds for a Five pound night.,all in all i spent over One hundred pounds over the two days would i do it again?.No. I say this as a Cradley fan of over fourty years, and a Penhall fan for twenty years and a person who is constantly attempting to find a new site, but as i say this is just MY opinion.
-
Gem now you can see why i did,nt no who he was.

Saturday night with Bruce, guest appearances by Bobby Boogaloo Swartz must say he hardly looked a day older, than i last saw him 15 years ago,Rocket Ronnie Corey now living, and settled near Gloucester,Kelly Moran, and Michael Lee. Bruce reckoned the rider he most feared as an opponent was Michael Lee who just shaded Kenny Carter, and he said he definately did not knock Kenny of in LA,just shut the gate on him, best team mate rider, and friend Boogaloo. As an evening i thought it was interesting, but Dick Bott? asked the pre arranged questions perhaps 4/5 taken from the floor, and that aspect was dissapointing not helped by microphone problems.Must admit the blond locks have gone, now wears glasses, and slightly heavier,on first imps he looks a lot different to 20 years ago,in fact at 1st i did not reckognise him,my missus says she would rather have Boogaloo any day now as opposed to Bruce, just a brief summary of the evening.

Jimmy Squibb was born in 1920 according to the Cradley web site.

Mylor,i only wish. I know you were joking about Dudley Wood, but the guys behind the return of Cradley have everything in place except for LAND. No what we have in mind may be an opportunity that may or may not be there, and it arose during a conversation we were having about the plight of Dudley Wood. Cheers Deano. Deano e,mail me at paulhtromans@freeuk.com

Could someone possibly help me with some costings please?. What would be a ROUGH cost to take up some turf, and put down a Speedway track of some 280 mtrs, with drainage, safety fence, starting gate etc, providing they would not be to prohibitive,i intend pursuing a possible opportunity that may be there. Also what guarantees have to be lodged with the Conference league prior/on joining?. I realise that i can find out most if not all of these things by going directly to the BSPA,but i would prefer not to involve them at the present time, until such times that we have progressed matters further.

greyhoundp replied to greyhoundp's topic in Years Gone By
Howard Cole?,yep he did,i also believe he used to be known in his earlier days as Kid Bodie, yep just checked it out on the web site,he did not want his parents or teachers to know he was riding,Any Cradley facts can be checked out on the web site;www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk -
Jan Steachman for wolves, but was it the seventies?
-
Frigbo don,t insult Eric by suggesting he rode for the wolves, how they would have wished. He only ever rode for one British team "CRADLEY".apart from the guest appearances

Cradley Heathens <post 1980 All Time Team >
greyhoundp replied to greyhoundp's topic in Years Gone By
Hi Gemini i Know the question was not directed at me,but to Mark, but since we <Cradley>closed i have been to Coventry say 5 times, and Wolves about the same, but i am a Cradley fan. I still live in hope i only had a reply from Dudley council this week about a prospective site, this was a tentative enquiry, and they asked for Amplified details, and a business plan,so as you can see they are being Helpful. -
As a matter of interest which of the following Cradley riders out of the following would you drop for a team of seven, all the riders are post 1980;Simon Wigg,Phil Collins,Bruce Penhall,Jan O Pedersson,Billy Hamill,Eric Gundersson,Greg Hancock,Simon Cross,Peter Nahlin,Lance King,Alan Grahame. Please No the riders in your 1- 7, appologies to riders not included.
-
Well unless my memory fails me <thats all we have at cradley>,Peter never seemed to ride the Cradley track very well <i am sure someone will prove me wrong>for what reason i dont know,as it was far from a gaters track.Phil was the same as the other brothers could not gate to save his life.
-
I think Phil was the most naturally gifted of the brothers Collins,i think he was to nice a guy,had he been mentally tougher then he would have been world Champ.
-
No 3,could be Terry Betts,In the red cap its definately Ole Olsen, and the kings lynn rider No 3 is Dave Jessup.
-
There are people actively seeking a new site in Birmingham,my money is on Perry Barr greyhound stadium, leased by the GRA,freehold held by the b,ham city council,Oxford, belle vue, wimbledon, are all combined greyhound speedway sites owned/leased by GRA,I feel sure that if some business man/Promoter came forward "The Brummies"could be added to that list, for those of you that don,t know the location it is across the walsall road, from the old stadium, and is the OLD alexandra athletics stadium,so come ON forward PROSPECTIVE promoters.
-
Hey i have,nt given up but WHAT are the fans doing???,we cannot just sit back, but thats whats happening,No one is going to knock anyones door and say here is a track for your speedway team. It looks to me that is what they are waiting for, cause NO-one is putting any sort of pressure on Dudley council. How many fans do Cradley have, seems to me there must be less than 50 of us,the rest are in the woodwork.
-
I will say it now we will never see the return of Cradley Heath in Dudley again, the council just don,t want speedway. The supporters should have got together years ago and put pressure on the council not left it to one or two men, whenever i have tried to get supporters together it has failed,RIP Cradley Heathens.
-
Don.t know about a speedway track, but Highgate is a current greyhound track, who may be interested in speedway if its not to close to sheffield.
-
Ian rode for Cradley for a short while, generally was lucky to score a point.
-
Arnie Pander when he was scratching around in second halves at Cradley.
-
You can look at www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk a very informative site and you will see we are still alive.
