  1. Slightly off Topic, you can lead a dog to water but you cannot make it drink, this person could have said NO. Back on topic Lance King all the potential in the world, sadly unfulfilled.
  2. My thoughts after talking to various people over some months almost everyone says where are the next generation of Americans, after H&H we have, Yarrow,Janniro,Fisher then who?the Dream Team ,its looks to me the American Individual system was/is almost dead. What they have in Baseball,American Football, etc is City Teams sponsored by big business if only America could get 10 or 12 Teams from various areas I believe it could really take off,but to do this one has to start somewhere and this is what the guys are trying to do. What the next step could be is a team of riders from over here of say 14, visiting the USA annually riding as guests for various Teams then at the end of the series we could have International matches official or otherwise riding against the Yanks, this i believe would put bums on seats. I believe there would be no lack of riders willing to go to America,or sponsors in America,Obviously this would be in our close season. Be interesting to hear peoples thoughts on something along these lines.

  4. Coalville greyhound Track can be added to the B*****s list. I am afraid it is not only this company, its just that this particular company has found this area <sports> very lucrative. What it comes down to is the landowner has a choice; Take a comparatively small annual rental income 20/30,000 pounds for his 4/8 acres or take a bulk payment running into millions and live a life of luxury at wherever he chooses to live. The sports concerned have the options to purchase these sites most probably but dont have the cash to compete, what needs to be done is to make these sites multi use, perhaps bring in fitness clubs/Casinos etc on long term leases, bring in say a Mcdonalds/Burger King on long leases, invite a developer to put up an Office block or even an appartment block maybe, in other words play the developers at there own game, but there again you are asking our current "promoters" to run a business when for the most part they cannot even run the sport, just look at how they allowed Benfield to take on the GP,s. Failing that no planning permission should be granted to develop a sports site without a replacement being put in place.
  5. Hi, Can you confirm only it is "generally" for a roadworks closed overnight ie 7-00pm until 7-00am.if it is correct then Woody has got about the best alternative, off at Gloucester & Cheltenham.
  6. Surprised to see that there,s no Adam Wrathall.,at least i thought i saw a line up somewhere can,t find it now.
  7. Looking at the Lognio web site though i cannot read Italian, the Americans have a reasonable record there. Sam won in 1990,Ronnie Correy won in 91 & 92,so i would suggest MM those are the Two guys you need to be in contact with as regard to set ups etc, cause whilst Chris has the Temperament, those two guys have something you cannot buy,and knowing of them i am sure they will be only to glad to help.
  8. Deanno, yes the greyhounds ran on friday night but remember we are talking pre GRA ie Maurice Buckland was the main man he just did not want Speedway at Perry Barr the Friday night dogs were for the semi pro trainers along with Monday nights,Tuesday was trial days/nights wed, thurs and sat were race nights therin was the problem. The main nights for Greyhounds are restaurant nights Thurs,Fri ,Sat,and Sunday lunches, then there are bags days, Speedway would have to be fitted in around that which may prove difficult with the planners.
  9. I would guess it must be a rule of thumb thing not ex number of miles otherwise,Coventry would object to Leicester coming back,The Brummies & Cradley would never come back because the Wolves would object,I think it has a lot to do with the catchment area.Though any return of Bristol would have an effect on Somersets crowd figures, i do not see realistically how they could stop Speedway returning to Bristol.
  10. The problems <financial> arise when teams allegedly go outside of the pay structure of points & travel expences. Some of the teams state they cannot survive in the Premier League yet go outside of the Guidelines for the Conference league, what is needed is perhaps for a league in between the Conference and Premier, the Conference to stay with an added Amateur Development League, and the new Conference league to pay slightly more than the current Conference pay structure. So beneath the Conference League we would have the Amateur Development League, age and pay structure to be decided, but within the STRICT guidelines of Amateur ie expences only. Bear in mind the lower League,s are not only to Develop riders but also to Develop New Tracks so that they to can progress through the various Leagues, for instance without the Conference League we would not have;Wimbledon,Somerset, Isle of Wight etc. So with an ADL it reduces costs for a potential New Track to test the water. The new Conference structure would enable experienced riders to compete still with the younger riders who are stagnating by not getting Premier rides that they need, and have that natural development that is essential with a bit more pay in return, which is allegedly what goes on anyway with certain current Conference Tracks.
  11. Its a shame that Justin is not coming over with the dream team in 2005.
  12. I am 95% sure that Phil tiger Hart was John Hart,s dad or at the very least the other 5% says he was his Uncle. Just checked on the Cradley site Phil was John,s Dad.
  13. Perry Barr greyhound stadium, and the old alex stadium ,now refered to as Perry Barr greyhound stadium both different stadiums the difference is one is/was on the left ie the old Perry Barr greyhound stadium, the other is on the right ie the old alex stadium now refered to as Perry barr greyhound stadium, the old alex originally staged speedway long before greyhound racing, oh i forgot to say that is when you drive out of town, and they are/were just about opposite each other.
  14. VV,I have to say i disagree with your comments,a manager is only as good as the tools he has to work with,I dont think there is anyone in the country who could have got more out of the squad tonight,Well done lads and hard luck. Anyone would think RR is the best thing since sliced bread, when he proves he can win something <straight>at one of his tracks then maybe, but tell me RR has been in the sport a fair while now what has he won <on the track>worth winning.
  15. Canadian star, did not know we had a car park for a start at least 1970 since we had one anyway, parking your car i dont for one minute believe that any Cradley fans would damage any cars, maybe some local yobos. The drunken bit i cannot coment on but you say "the Cradley Fans" I will refute that and say Some Cradley fans maybe.Wolfcrazy i commend you for your comment. Oh and by the way Canadian star any comment on the years we had a lousy team?,must have had a lousy team and lousy supporters then,we had a not very good team for longer than we had a good team, but i tell you what we always have and always will have some of the best supporters in the World.
  16. Old bulldog the site i refer to is a current sports site that overlooks Bristol and is to the East, not under Bristol council. But its gone for now as i said in an earlier post would have been ideal,i will whisper it now "Lansdowne"i had a couple of site meetings the manager there used to be at the millenium stadium. I will return to my efforts at Cradley but tell me Old Bulldog what Council is Swainswick under?,that aint to far really is it?.
  17. It is somewhat unfortunate that a new location for Bristol has been rejected only this week. The local management were in favour, but the National board of Directors rejected the idea saying somewhat shortsightedly in my opinion. That the idea of Speedway did not tie in with there future ongoing plans for the site. This site was around 14 miles from the old Eastville site, and overlooked Bristol.
  18. Nope it is still there they only used the old trotting track stables for the toll Road it is unused and falls under Cannock Council, the outline of the Trotting track is there one or two Floodlight pylons, no stands, cost a small fortune to erect a perimeter fence. I believe Main Man could give you details of the long track meeting.
  19. Would,nt be the one where Coventry never had an Heat winner would it?,i could not go that day,my mates walked in the pub after going to Cov and i would/could not believe Cradley had won everyheat, thought it was a wind up. Falcace if you log on to the Cradley site i am sure Steve or Phil Johnson will give you the details www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk
  20. Lots depend on the MGM/Whoever take over Wembley Group,If it means Casinos, that means no Speedway.
