Looking For A Team Spot... Again
greyhoundp replied to danny.halsey's topic in National League Speedway
It would be nice to have seen you in the Heathens colours for 2011 i am sure you would have upped your average back to around 7+ especially with our supporters behind you, tho this would have meant us going with 2 x 3 pointers at reserve, but providing one of them had been a aussie on a 3 we would have been ok, anyways Dan, good luck with your search. -
Slightly off topic; actually WHO are the Dudley promotion ?? Yes Nigel Pearson is Chairman, backers are Wolverhampton Speedway <CVS> and were Birmingham <Gary Patchett> personally i am of the opinion NP was a suitable frontman for CVS who possibly thought Cradley fans would not accept him as Main man in resurecting the Heathens, and who pocketed the profits generated by Dudley in 2010 ??, will it be used to get our OWN Track.
-
And in the recent history of the NL, 2010 Title winners Buxton had Jason Garrity, sometimes Morris at reserve, 2009 Title winners Bournemouth Had Jerran Hart at reserve, 2011 Title winners ?? who have named there reserves so far ?? Newport,Gough and Andrews both 3 pointers,S&S Richie Worrall and Nielsen 3 pointers,Hackney have Freemantle and Hazelden,Kings Lynn have Stokes and Blackbird, again both 3 pointers, Belle Vue Widman and Garrity, now whilst i cannot predict who will win the League as yet, from the Teams who have named there full Squad Belle Vue have 1 reserve who stands out above the rest, and whilst i dont agree with SCB that Garrity will achieve 9+ in 2011, he has the ability to beat anyone in this League, Herne,Roynon,Kurtz,Lambert etc,etc probably he has already beat them at some stage, can we say the same of other reserves in the NL ?? i very much doubt that.

Yes, Jason at reserve is the "Ace" in the Pack so to speak, and i was of the opinion whichever Team had Jason at reserve for the begining of the season would have one heck of an advantage at seasons start.
-
Very rarely do we disagree 21st, YES, the main issue is Jason Garrity, and according to OFFICIAL figures he will start the season at reserve http://www.speedwaygb.co/nlgreensheets10.html on an average of 4.94, that is one heck of an advantage for Belle Vue to begin the season with, Byron many of OUR supporters wanted him to be in the Heathens Team, and he will be there No1 to begin the season with, i would expect normal improvement from Kyle Howarth which should push him up to around the 8 point mark, Mckinna will be around the upper sixes, lower sevens with the odd double figure score, the gamble they have taken is with Mason and Richardson who whatever else will average around 5 points each, no pressure will be on young Widman whatsoever, so i will stay with my earlier assesment of making BV my early season pacesetters, but this is shaping up to be a season to look forward to in the NL.
-
Good all round Team, three more than capable Heat leaders in Garrity,Howarth, and Becker with Mckinna,Mason and Richardson capable of throwing in double figure scores, whilst i cant see them running away with the League, they have to be favourites at the moment.

Brendan johnson Its been posted on the IOW Topic, seems a coincidence that pretty soon after he was being mentioned as a good signing for us, it was announced he had re-signed for IOW . Regards Adam; I have NO doubts of his potential, his talent or his commitment, what i am concerned about is should he get injured, we will have to use rider replacement, and we should remember its been a while since he had an injury free season. However to sum up, in that whilst i dont agree with when our signings are announced, i FULLY understand the reasoning behind it, ALL of OUR riders will as always receive MY full support when they put on that Heathens race jacket, looking at some of the signings by other NL Teams the league looks to be wide open, i cannot as yet see a Team that is capable of walking away with the league.
-
Jeez steve, hope your drivers will alternate , Plymouth up to workington, only a short run really, but you will pass some lovely countryside.
-
Oh well,i see IOW have resigned Under 18 Champ Brendan Johnson, I cant help but feel The Heathens have missed a trick in NOT going for this young guy on the average he is on.
-
So why hasnt Eric Gundersson been taken up on his offer ??
-
Malcolm said this in another topic, The NL is the league which its major aim is to give Young riders oportunities to begin a career in Speedway, another of its aims is for new Tracks to establish themselves on the speedway ladder, but another reason should be to trial NEW Ideas before introducing them to the proffesional Teams in the PL and EL, the NL should LEAD in this not follow as in the play off idea. With Malcolms comments is it time for the 8 man Team formula to be re introduced for the 2012 season, giving MORE oportunity for YOUNG riders to be given Team places ?.

Save Weymouth Speedway Campaign
greyhoundp replied to Save Weymouth Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
Is there no area on Portland that would be suitable to develop as a Speedway Track, or a local Football/Rugby Team lower down in the league structures who have some unused land that would be suitable, those are the areas that i would begin my site search, i fully realise finding land, then obtaining the needed planning permission is a difficult task, but good luck weymouth in your quest. -
Steve, are you toeing the party line on this so to speak, it is GOOD to hear both sides, as a supporter which do you prefer ?? Drip fed or as and when they sign?. Kings Lynn, Scunthorpe, Newport have announced as they sign, Buxton,Dudley, and others prefer the drip feed approach.
-
Yes,i agree with you on this 21st, the drip feed approach doesnt rock my boat either, seing as these riders are as good as signed then there really is NO point in holding back with who they are, i personally would hope Brendan Johnson is one of the riders, if he is then outside of having a new Nick Morris, or Robert Branford as our other reserve, it will make us as competitive, as any other line up that i have seen announced.
-
Have i read somewhere Charles is riding for Workington..?? or is he/can he double down ??.
-
Can someone please add Mildenhall to the list of Teams for 2011. you beat me to it Nikko.

Save Weymouth Speedway Campaign

Whilst every effort must be made to try and revive The Wildcats for 2011, as per Mildenhalls 12th hour reprieve, finding an alternative site must be a close second option. Are Weymouth FC the owners of the land the Track is on ?? if so surely it must be possible to contact a Director on Match days at the Football Club. -
While its great news for all Fen Tigers Fans, i feel desperately sorry for Steve Ribbons, if he is not a suitable promoter in the eyes of The BSPA then they should have the b*lls to tell him so, not appear to lead him up the garden path so to speak. Whilst we are on this subject, if terms could be agreed at Weymouth, would they be allowed this 12th hour oportunity ??, because it would be great to see them back also.
-
Great news for the Fen Tigers fans, look forward to seeing you over at West Row.
-
Assuming he stays fit and free from injury, cant think when the last season Adam had free from injury, the guy desperately needs an injury free season, then hopefully we can see him fullfill the potential he has always shown.
-
I take your point Steve, but there are far to many footballers taking up team spots, who really are Just average players, i can see the day coming and its not to far off, where the majority of England players will be from Championship Teams and not Premiership, FA take note of what has happened in Speedway, GB can barely put out a Team of Heat Leaders.
-
To be honest rami, whilst Richard is a nice guy and all that, i dont see him as a great improver, but its all down to opinions. I would prefer to see Jamie and another 4.5 pointer for the last Place.
-
Cheers Will, in that case i would go for Jamie Pickard, think i am right in thinking he is only down the road, as he lives in Hagley, which makes him a Heathens Fan....sooooo if thats the case i wouldnt hesitate to get him on board.

I would love to think armo is on a 6.97 average, which is what it says on the Speedway info site, that would give us two bonus options, 1/ It would mean Adam is our No1 so if he gets injured "Heaven forbid" we could have the use of a guest, 2/ It would give us an extra 1.39 points for our last two riders. Can someone clarify what armos average actually is, Bcuz if 6.97 is correct, i would love to see Ando back in the Team, with a 3 point reserve. Then we would have a reasonably strong Heat leader Trio of Adam,Armo and Jake, Two good second strings in Tom and Ash, with Darryl and 1 other 3 point reserve.
