Visa criteria
greyhoundp replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes but i would have thought his original Visa would have been issued for employment specifically for Workington, that sponsor no longer exists he runs the risk of being refused entry if he does not change his visa to a Tourist/None working visa.. -
3 days to go, and there is a deafening silence..

Heathens Planning Application
greyhoundp replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not looking great to be honest, still a few bits of land that we are awaiting feedback on, after that the cupboard is looking somewhat bare.. -
Yes But Cradley had closed when that happened, The stadium itself was just laying empty like Brandon is at this moment.

Does this help ? https://pa.midkent.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=PJJ0SNTYFN400

You mean they have finally got rid of the old Gas Streetlights ? at last..
-
Thats a very good signing, young and improving rider, leaves 10.7 for the last three riders, do they go 2 x 2 and a 6+ or 1 x 2 pointer, and a couple of 4,s ?.

Its almost impossible to find a suitable plot of land, We have searched tirelessly over the past two years, going over sites that have been disregarded in the past, trying for new sites, and we have ended up with a couple of sites that we are waiting for the Council to come back with there officers opinions on suitability. There is no way any Speedway Team in the country can afford to buy land, so we can only lease any suitable site, there are very few if any landowners that will lease sites for the rental thats affordable by Speedway teams, and thats the big problem, it only leaves us with Council owned land thats being unused or under used, and finding that land not near to houses is nigh on impossible. That leaves us with Greenbelt land, which brings us back to the first problem of cost. Just over 12 months ago we had very high hopes for one particular site, that was blown out of the water by a previously unknown purchase option on the land which very few people knew about, that site is now having a planning application submitted in the next few months for retail development. So to summarise not looking great unless a sugar daddy comes forward to buy 5 or so acres of Brown/Greenfield land, but with the state of British Speedway that seems a forlorn hope..

The latter dont like taking anything out of their pension pots, and they only have Swindon left to top there pension up with, luckily for pirates fans Poole is Council owned, thats probably why wotsis name brought Torquay United, no more Greyhound Stadia available to buy and assett strip so they have moved on to aquire miss managed football clubs..

Cant see Hoppy being back on the Island..

Private Club or now a Limited Company, whatever we still wont get to know the ins and outs..

Strong rumours in the local area, that Jason Edwards will be in the Team..

I raised a genuine point, so you think it would be worthwhile to run 6 home League meetings?, as for being bitter seems you are the one with Bitterness, with regards your Brian Buck comments they prove who is the stupid one on here..
-
Just a thought to confirm that the Brummies are more likely than not to run in the Championship, would it really be worth Birminghams while to run for about 6 League meetings in the NL ?, I doubt its worth all the hassle.
-
I thought Worky were in the Championship not the NL , however if its built to a budget then fair play to them just a pity that allegedly others continue to pay over the odds.
-
The NL agm is only a few days away, what decisions do people want/expect to be made, for me its about the make up of the League, with doubts about Birmingham, Eastbourne, Mildenhall, Coventry, will there be any teams coming into the league ie Cradley Heathens, there doesnt appear to be any other Teams in the pipeline, so it maybe that the NL could be down to 6 teams, and with Plymouth warning that a low points limit could give doubts to there participation, it could be even less.. I would like to see Cradley Heathens return to League racing in 2019 as Monmore appear to have enough dates to allow that to happen.

As a driver that was on the road from 1976 till about 1984, and having come out of retirement in june of this year, i have to say without a doubt they are far worse now than what they were then, when i say worse there are far more drivers on the road, there are more road works, more bottle necks, Im talking about during the normal working day 7-00 am to around 7-00 pm, and in my opinion the driving standards themselves have deteriorated, by trying to drive overnight to avoid the congestion that can also be a pain in the butt, with numerous overnight road closures to do roadworks that are almost impossible to do during the day..in my Opinion right now the M6 is without doubt the worst motorway to drive at the present time, with its numerous road widening schemes being done, and not due for completion for a few more years. I would suggest on average a 3 hour journey back then would probably take an average of 4 hours now, and dont start me on about school runs, i have only one word to describe them, diabolical, there is a massive difference at School holiday times..

3 x 3 pointers?, most teams have problems finding 2, so i very much doubt that will be on the agenda..

Has there been an AGM ?, Nothing done to help reduce machinery costs, nothing to reduce wage costs, nothing to stop the end of season rush to complete fixtures, a little tweak to reduce doubling down, and worst of all nothing to attract new fans to the Sport. I know it was always going to be a difficult AGM but not to have done anything beggars belief.. obviously Somerset and Leicester were not happy in the Premiership, why didnt they just form a breakaway from the PL/BSPA, and go there own way, its pretty clever how Buster has allegedly brought into Peterboro & Ipswich it keeps the Premiership alive for now, but its only alive for as long as Buster wants it to be. The number of Championship clubs that were/are for sale sums up the problems Speedway has, little if anything has been done to sort out those deep rooted problems.. good luck for 2019 its going to be needed if British Speedway is to have 2 senior Leagues in 2020..
-
Well if Cook & Harris dont earn enough to pay bills, either live within there means, or get another job, try living on £7.83 per hour, then they might have something to moan about..
-
It would be interesting to know what this/these breaches are..

The long term future doesnt look great, with continuing substantial losses.. https://www.glasgowtigers.co/club-statement-club-position/?mc_cid=3c447b9434&mc_eid=afb93a01f5

Well we all risk injury every time we cross the road or get into our Car, this is a Sport that has risks, of course H&S is there to reduce/prevent risks, but goodness me the nature of the Sport is very risky in the first place, maybe we should be looking at having Speedway bikes with brakes, then riders could brake when they are close to a lower grade rider . The whole Sport is in crisis the number of clubs up for sale tells you that, Its simply no use now carrying on with the same old format that has failed to bring in new supporters over a number of years, we have to look at ways to get new people through the gate, Yes most of us on here are the older brigade, I myself go back to 1962 . Is anything new thats suggested now being classed as a gimmick ?, I would even look to take it a stage further in the years to come. There needs to be a way to get Bookmakers more involved in the Sport but to do this it perhaps needs 6 man handicap races, now whether or not this would be viable in the years ahead i am not so sure, the tracks may not be built for this to be viable, the angle i am coming from is Tracks could run a Totalisator on races similar to Greyhound meetings ie Forecasts, Tricasts, and reverse Forecasts, Tricasts, Greyhound Tracks take a big percentage of the on course pools allegedly up to 30% of the total on course pool, then there is the Jackpot, whereby you have to name the winner of a number of races, in Speedway this could be name the winner of the 13/15 races, this pool roles over meeting by meeting until its won. If this took off the Bookmakers could begin to take a serious interest in Speedway, and that would mean money into the Sport, and provide to be a lifeline it desperately needs. As an example greyhound racing streamed into Betting shops brings in thousands of pounds for every meeting on the streaming service allegedly upwards of 10k per meeting, and as Bookmakers they do sponsor greyhound races throughout the year.. I will sit back now and wait for the abuse, but im just trying to think of things outside the box.. .
