And the point is ? I did suggest a British Junior Championship, to be competed for by the 2 reserves of each NL Team, which could still be done at the end of the season, 8 Teams actually makes this easy to do, where could it be held, and would a Track want to host it ? I have no idea, i am sure the Young lads would love to compete for something like this, and if the Host Track were chosen purely on economic reasons it would have to be at Monmore, were it to be on fairness and neutral, then it would have to be somewhere like Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, I only nominate them because they are Central for all the riders to travel to.

If thats true, then that leaves Chris Mills, yes i know he is riding for the brummies.but that is only short term, and he doesnt have a PL Team,Im sure he has an average that would fit, would distance be a problem ?.

I see we had the Chinese Formula 1 GP last weekend, if i recall Vettel won one race and got a Trophy as did 2nd & 3rd place guys, thay also got a number of points. We also had a similar formula for the Motorcycle GP, and the Speedway GP as you say. This was not named GP but the British under 21 Championship, and as such it should be 16 riders, 5 races, highest points scorer on the night to decide the winner, race off between equal points scorers for 1st,2nd and 3rd positions. I am not complaining in any way, as i am a Heathens fan, but like Waco my preference is for old formula, Yes this seems to have been brought in for the benefit of the fans, ie a race or two extra, if it is to be with this formula, then it should not be a one off meeting, but a round held at every NL Track and then it can be GP Style, and GP style scoring, hey that aint a bad idea for 2013 therefore we get 8 indivdual meeting winners, and an overall Champion deservedly so after 8 meetings on 8 different tracks & conditions, so we have British Under 21 Champion old Formula, and British Under 21 GP Winner gp style. also i believe the winner of both events, progress to the World Under 21,s for the following year. Is everyone happy now, ? You see guys theres always a way round these things if theres a will, theres a way, now just convince the BSPA which is an entirely different matter.

Well a team should always go for the best available rider, Lee Smarts average has to put him in as the best available rider, if he is ready and willing, he will probably view this as his last chance to make a go of it in Speedway, it will put him in the shop window, and make Buxton stronger than having Tim in the Team, so this decision could be a win win for Lee Smart and Buxton, I know he has done one or two amateur meetings, so £10 a point would be viewed as better than nowt, which could perhaps be increased if there was a sponsorship deal that could be made available, he certainly would score well, especially with a few TRs lol, and lets be honest. theres a lot worse places to be driving to on a nice Sunday afternoon.

Having read Jayne,s comments on the situation,i will just say, they must be etremealy dissapointed with Tims decision, one thing that Buxton have in there favour is with the weather forcast i have just seen, they will have a week os so,to try and sort something out, the biggest problem that they probably have, is trying to fit someone in, within the averages available, and not having to let another rider go, to fit in ie re-declare, 3 riders Jon Armo armstrong, Chris Mills and Lee Smart.

Firstly Dekker, what an ungracious comment . Here is my opinion, and i appreciate some people may have seen this differently. Well how the rain missed Monmore I,ll never know, right up to a few hundred metres from the stadium, there were puddles of water at the roadside, and i was thinking here we go again another bladdy rain off, but then miracuously, it was dry, and the meeting was on, and we were in for what was to become more than almost 3 hours of thrills and spills and Fireworks both on and off Track, interspersed with some junior races. Lots of falls, at least 10 at the last count, 1 race with only 1 finisher, some passing, and bucket loads of effort from all the riders, which resulted for a busy night for track staff and first aiders, and at the end, whilst there were some bent bikes, and some bruised and aching riders, i dont think there were any serious injuries. Tom Perry; probably the most entertaining rider on show, in most of his races he made at least one pass, deserved his overall 2nd place. Kyle Howarth; another who rode consistantly, and was deserving of his rostrum finish, passed by Tom pom in the final. Rob Branford; Rob fell when in 3rd in his 1st race, consistant but for me, his bike seemed down on power. Ben Morley; Ben was always in the action though he to seemed a little outpaced. Marc Owen; Can best be described as a inconsistant night, rode well for little reward, and took a heavy fall, withdrew from his last two rides. Kyle Newman; Kyle was always in the thick of the action, unluckily disqualified in his semi final, could have gone either way. Joe Haines; Joe deserved this win after his serious injuries, not spectacular, but won the important races ie semi and Final. Adam Wrathall; I think Monmore is not one of Adams favourite track, and it showed at times, but plenty of effort. Steve Worrall; Steve was never worse than 2nd in any of his programmed rides, took a heavy fall in his semi, missed the gate in the rerun, and couldnt get past. Ashley Morris; A dissapointing night for Ashley, never recovered from a poor start, then seemed to be overiding. Stefan Nielsen; will be pleased with his points return which included 2 race wins and a fall, promising. Richie Worrall; unbeaten by an opponent when he finished, a case of what might have been, appeared to be different class. James Sarjeant; a night he will want to forget, at least three falls, and withdrew from his last race, his time will come. Jerran Hart; when he gated he won well, missed out on a Semi spot, when he was excuded for causing a race to be stopped. Jason Garrity; mixed night for Jase, which included a costly fall, and machine failure, which meant he couldnt qualify for a semi. Joe jacobs; another who tried his heart out, this will be a good experience for Joe, his turn will come. Ben Reade <res> ben picked up 3 rides and notched 3 points from them. All in all, on a cold night, and a over run meeting, due almost entirely to the numerous falls, reruns, and fence repairs, i enjoyed it, ALL the riders have to be complimented on there efforts on a sometimes greasy Track which didnt get any easier as the night wore on, and the dew/frost came down, almost every race had some sort of incident, due to a combination of the above and the young riders enthusiasm to do well, when the riders did fall, they were usually back on there feet and clearing the track, unless they were winded from the fall. Well worth the Tenner admission, and again well done to everyone, Oh and despite running late, still managed to fit in the 6 junior races, so a special well done for that, and congratulations Joe Haines Under 21 Champion 2012.

update; 1st light shower at monmore 5-20pm, but Track is fine, word of worrying there are heavier showers around in the area right now, very heavy shower lasting some half an hour but it seems to have missed Monmore Wood at the moment. We dont want to much b,cuz these kids deserve a good track to race on, and we dont want anyone getting hurt.

Weather update, 3-45 pm, Lots of high white broken cloud, probably 65% cloudy, sunny spells, right now sun is out, with little or no wind, so if it stays as it is, its a definate ON, remember Wolves rode last night, so the track is in good nick, with a good drying day so far, good luck to all the guys, and hope they all stay safe, will probably be bringing updates on this, from Biker Fm, making my Debut on there so see ya guys.

hello Mr Vogster, any chance of being on if it remains dry all day ?? or is it like down here pretty wet underfoot, but it is brighter here than it has been for a few days.

Jeez, early bird, catches the worm, good morning mr V.

, I wouldnt be to sure about that Cookie, depends how much they both want it, young Mr Garrity might have something to say about that, Tom P could beat either of them in a 1 off. if he gets to the Final, Kyle Newman is very capable, and going on form young Marc Owen seems to have had a decent start to the season..I will go Kyle Howarth to win, Marc Owen as the dark horse. Tom Perry, Has undoubted ability, cant put 5 good gates together. Kyle Howarth, has started the season in cracking form, my favourite to win. Robert Branford, Rob seems down on confidence at the moment, on his day can beat any of these. Ben Morley, Ben has never seemed comfortable when i have seen him at Monmore. Marc Owen, Marc has recaptured his promise of a few seasons ago, when everyone wanted to sign him. Kyle Newman, another rider who seems down on confidence at the moment, again on his day can beat any of these. Joe Haines, Slowly getting back to near his best, sadly not there yet. Adam Wrathall, Sorry to have to say, but Adam is not up to the standard of some of the others, will struggle, but give 100%. Steven Worrall, Steve has been left behind by his brother, but again is capable of beating anyone here. Ashley Morris, Ash can beat any of these, especially on his own track, but he is another suffering a slow start to the season. Stefan Nielsen, If he gates he may well win a race,if he doesnt likely to be a faller. Richie Worrall,Rich has to be one of the favourites, storming start to the season in the Nl, and PL, top 3 finish. James Sarjeant, James will still have a point to prove, could upset 1 or 2 of the more established stars. Jerran Hart, Another rider who has a point to prove, not sure how much he has seen of Monmore, which could prove his undoing. Jason Garrity, Jase is the guy Heathens fans love to hate, which always seems to spur him on, Top 4 finish. Joe Jacobs, JJ seems to have had a decent start to the season, but as with 1 or 2 others not yet ready to win this. Hopefully the weather will relent, and this meeting can go ahead, if it does i expect the Worralls, Howarth, Garrity, Perry, and Newman to be up there, but i am also expecting, one of the lesser known riders to be up there, so i and going to plump for Marc Owen, to at least get to a semi, along with Ash Morris.

I have a feeling you are probably right about this, same forecast from further down the M6, hope it all clears away before next Tuesday, I suppose we are still having a draught, or it the wrong rain, or it wont soak into the ground whatever.

The Heathens V Mildenhall 2nd Leg
greyhoundp replied to greyhoundp's topic in National League Speedway
yeah, bloody english weather, i went to pick up a Speedway virgin from Minworth, dry and sunny on the way to Wolvo, 1 mile or so from the track, and large puddles at the roadside, i said to the newbie this is looking doubtful, and as we turned into Sutherland Av, NO Cars, and i said to my mate, its bladdy Off. Anyways we went to Mad O,rourkes, and i introduced Him to the "Desperate Dan Cow Pie" needless to say he didnt Eat it all. LoL. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1204372326#!/photo.php?fbid=3682069689385&set=a.3682069649384.2171122.1204372326&type=3&theater We used to be famous for our Pork Sarnies, now try the "Cow Pie" lol. -
Nice one mytheman, she is most likely a Coventry fan, Rugby is pretty close to Coventry, if you dont have any luck, i can let Chris Simpson know, he is the announcer at Coventry, and i think Birmingham, or if you want he is Superbart on here i think, and reguarly goes on the General Discussion thread on the Biker Fm topic, as he announces, and does the program schedule for there speedway program, I am sure we will find her.

Malcolm, yep you beat us fair and square last year, but also at YOUR home meeting we had to wait hours for medical staff to turn up, this year you have already had your pre season race off put back, light failures, meetings cut short, and its not even the end of april. Surely as a Director of Stoke speedway, you and Mr Tatum by now should know how to put on a Speedway meeting, if things continue ar they are up there there is only one thing going to happen, Your own fans will drift away, and they wont come back, I know of many Heathens fans who have vowed never to return, but most of them probably will, but they will think twice before they do, the costs of getting to meetings is getting out of hand, luckily for you at Stoke you are pretty local to us at Dudley, so its not to bad, but Malcolm surely YOU of all people must realise things have to be put right up there,i really feel sorry for long suffering supporters such as Vog, who have to put up with this never ending catalogue of mishaps that seem to happen up there. Hopefully now that you are a director you can have more of an influence on what goes on, or if its only a Dressing up excercise to have you on board, then your hard earned reputation gained over many years will suffer as a consequence.

Well guys just over 48 hours to go before an intriguing 2nd leg at Monmore Wood, Mildenhall have a 1 point lead from the 1st leg so its finally balanced. Here we have 2 of the favourites for NL honours in 2012, who will win, where will it be won ? the 1st question is anyones guess, but my idea of where it will be won, well i think JJ will have a big part to play,as will Ashley Morris, but i really think it will be down at the reserves position, where this could be won and lost, as the 1 to 5 seem very evenlly balanced, and all in all seem to cancel each other out, in my humble opinion, i cant see either team getting thrashed, but am going for maybe at most a 6 point home win. Good luck to both teams. One thing i am sure we will see, is a well run meeting, which seems to be a problem for some tracks to achieve. and it does the sport no favours, because supporters will walk away, and wont come back.

Buxton V Usa Future Sunday 15th April
greyhoundp replied to Jayne's topic in National League Speedway
So,come on guys, whats the forecast up there, i know it will be a wrap up warm day. -
Hope this meeting can go ahead, and complete, forcast is for some showers around the area, Im not sure with the weather we have had over the past week, how much water the Track will be able to take, one thing i will advise,is wrap up warm, cuz there is a biteing cold wind around, good luck to all the riders, and stay safe.

Its a catch 22, as you say you can only bring those that have the funding, and its not nececarily those that have the funding, who have the most natural ability, and also the economy has played a big part in recent years, this is what i am saying Steve, whereas a couple of years ago, I wouldnt think twice about going to away meetings, me and many others have to consider the cost nowadays, i live very close to your guys base at the Saltwells, i went to Bournemouth over the weekend, fuel alone cost me £45, and i am sure many people here are in the same boat as me, when it comes to travelling costs. Thats why i say, maybe its time to look at how the Tours are made up, whereas before many came to watch YOUR Teams, mostly as General Speedway fans, and nostalgic reasons from days past, <similar to BV days past> there comes a time for whatever reason, more needs to be done, to attract the local Speedway fan, the non Speedway fan, to make it value for money, and at the same time give YOUR guys the experience that they badly need.
-
You know, i am all in favour of this idea, of The Young Americans, and am fully behind these Teams coming over, BUT and this is the BUT, the meetings have to be competitive, it doesnt matter if the Heat times are 5 seconds slower or something like that, but what does matter is if there is half a lap between the first and last placed rider, supporters will not pay hard earned money to watch something like that. It may well be time in the interests of entertainment, and for the future of these Tours to introduce some kind of handicap racing, something similar to the Olympique that is held at Wolves ie, race winner goes off 30 metres, 2nd place goes off 20 metres, and 3rd placed guy goes off 10 metres, if a rider wins 2 races in a row, then he has a further 10 metre penalty, 3 races another 10 metres and so on, i dont know its just a thought, and only the management know how easy or hard it was to fill the program with dates for this Tour, but looking at the IOW result and Heat details, what was it 12 races before there was a USA heat winner? Laurence i am sure YOU know i mean well, and i am not criticising, I know the young guys spend lots of money to come here, and they try there hearts out, each and everyone of them, but its time now, that the management looked at ways to make these meetings more competitive, and thought of constructive ways to help the guys, and stop them becoming disheartened and demoralised before they even start out on there Speedway careers. In my opinion, you need to try to achieve two added things to these Tours to help them become a long term established event. 1. From the riders point of view, they cannot become competitive and achieve NL heat leader standard overnight, and to help them to not become demoralised, some sort of Handicap system HAS to be introduced. 2. This will also help to achieve what the supporters need which is entertainment. If i am speaking out of turn, then i am sorry, but its how i feel. These Tours need to be refreshed and i would like to read others thoughts on this matter, because i am sure most people want these Tours to continue, and there is a depth of support in the UK for American riders, they dont miss many meetings as some other countries riders seem to do, and there has always been Characters produced for whatever reason, so to encourage the development of American riders, these Tours need to continue.

Mildenhall V Dudley - National League Shield 8/4/2012
greyhoundp replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Good result for Dudley, but we mustnt count our chickens, same scoreline as last year, from what i recall, but then Mildenhall came to the Wood and won in the League meeting, so its only half time, and all to play for, however i still believe Daryl, Byron, and JWW are below there best, so theres room for optimism there.
