Well done IOW, wow i am surprised by the winning margin, however you did have a fully fit No1 this week (no dig at Stevie ) compared to last week against The Heathens, and your back up riders outscored there Mildenhall counterparts, well done Brendan, Danny and Chris, they ALL did so well, they even covered for an Off night by Dazza. See you both in the Play Offs.
-
Yeah i agree Tony, but it helped douse the IOW fire. (its catching) you know i hope the Islanders win, they need the points, The Tigers dont.

Can the Potters from Stoke stop The Heathens winning run ?. No it will be a massive upset for Stoke to win this Top v Bottom clash, and i cant believe how badly the season has gone for Stoke, prior to the seasons start, i had them down as play off contenders, not re-signing Liam Carr was a massive mistake, and if the reason was bcuz of alleged finances, then i understand it even less <surely a sponsor could have been found> this is only one of the reasons they now find themselves down at the bottom of the table. Looking at the averages, when Stoke signed Steve Worrall they could have kept Lee Smart, again one can only assume the reasons he was let go were financial. I just wish i had some financial clout, to make an offer to buy DT out of the Speedway side of things at Loomer road, from what i read and hear, he is not averse to upsetting people, sometimes its best to bite the bullet and admit you were wrong and have made mistakes.. Its all well and good being outspoken, but speedway cant exist without supporters. Have a good meeting all, stay safe, but i can only see a Ommering being the order of the day, lets just hope, The Potters show as much fight as Kent Kings in the last home meeting.

Difficult to predict the outcome here, after seeing last weeks meeting against the Heathens, however i have just read Steve Boxhall is covering for Tom Perry, so with a top 2 of Steve and Adam Ellis, backed up by by Ben Hopwood and the ever improving Darryl Ritchings, I think IOW,s top 2 should just see them home, in what will be a tight meeting, possibly going down to the last Heat. The Fen tigers have a strong all round squad with Aaron Baseby down at reserve, and 4 good heat leaders in Stefan, Dan, Armo, and young Josh Bates, this meeting could well be decided by the lesser lights,as i give IOW the edge at the Top end, the middle riders will cancel each other out, but Brendon, Danny and Chris, will need to get the better of Aaron, Nathan, and Connor, to close to call, but i will go for IOW with possibly The Fen Tigers sneaking a point, if one of the Teams Top Quartet has an off night, then that will decide the meeting. Stay safe.

i have not commented on the state of the Track, i wasnt there so its not for me to comment, obviously the Kent riders found it difficult, but i will comment on the Team manager situation, apparently Will Pottinger The Heathens Team manager stood in, so someone has stated <not confirmed>. This was a difficult situation for Will, unless the Kent riders asked him to complain, i doubt he would have done so, all i will say, it was the same for both teams, and luckily there was no serious injuries. past is past, and we move on, and hopefully learn from the experience. -
I think in this instance, you mean Adam Ellis riding for IOW, and not Ipswich, though Im sure Adam would love to be in the Top Ten Pl riders .

Well done to Kent on another home win, tough on Storm, meeting Kent when they at last seem to have a competitive team, going to be pretty hard from here on in, for teams to take points off them at home.. -

I think its known as Buxton water. -
Buxton, one of my favourite Tracks to visit versus Kent who i would like to see do well. If Kent reproduce the fight and spirit they showed at Monmore Wood recently, then this could be a pretty close meeting, just a word of advice to the Kent riders, If the Track is heavy, stay on the inside to mid track, and you will be Ok, if you take a middle to wide line, 9 times out of 10, you will end up eating shale, or kissing the safety fence. Good luck to both Teams and stay safe.

Do you expect The Heathens still to be NL in 2014 ?, you know what the fans want.

Wightlink Islanders V Dudley Heathens
greyhoundp replied to Great Central's topic in National League Speedway
I dont know what the aformentioned stuff you refer to was, but i was there and stood at the first bend with Bradtony and his good lady, no problems that we heard of. The meeting itself was a closely fought match up to the 10th heat when the scores were all square, then Ellis had an EF when his Carb came off when leading, this cancelled out an earlier EF for Lewis Blackbird, and in the same race Danny Stoneman provided the fireworks when his bike caught fire, and a big 5-0 to the Heathens, who from then on in increased there advantage to take all the points. For The Islanders Young Ellis is fast when in front, but needs to learn how to overtake, Dazza rode well, and Tom Perry is NOT fit, from his own mouth he said his shoulder is Knackered. For The Heathens, Steve, Lewis, and Starkey scored 37 points between them, but the match wouldnt have been won without backup, and BOY did they get that, cometh the hour cometh the MAN in the shape of young Nathan Greaves, 12+ was the haul he got, and Im sure the Heat leader trio would be the 1st to admit he was the STAR of the night, once again an enjoyable visit to the Island, and the supporters were there in large numbers, and the Island fans were generous in there applause. If i were an IOW supporter i wouldnt be to despondent about this result, many are saying this would be the case when Ellis got into the team proper, but 2 points from your No1 is where it was won and lost for me, Im NOT blaming Tom Perry, he is clearly unfit, and Im guessing it will be touch and go wether or not we see him again this season, For The Heathens Steve Boxhall was a fantastic guest for our No1 and we didnt miss Ash, Ishy would have maybe scored about the same as RR, and thanks to Danno Verg, but he didnt score the points Cleggy would have done, so on another day maybe the score would have ended much closer, not much to choose between the two Teams. -
I can only echo some of the comments on here, maybe Stoke were the Team, but the time was wrong, maybe he can re-discover some of his old form elsewhere. good luck mate wherever you may end up.

The weather is lovely and sunny down here in Bournemouth, just walked the Dog across Bournemouth Beach Tops, looked across to the Island, a little sea mist over there, but sun is blazing down, and the forecast is good, yes there will be a Coach, don't know how big, but also some making there own way down, such as myself. Yes we have been hit badly hit by injuries, but hopefully we may take a point, Top guest in Steve Boxhall, R.R for Ishy, and Danny Verge covering for Cleggy, who will be a big miss, if Dan and Nathan can step up, to cover Ishy we may get a point. The ex Heathens Tom, Dazza, and Danny will all be out to prove a point or two, and Adam Ellis, Ben will be hoping to continue there good form. Good luck guys, stay safe, and Im sure The Heathens faithful will enjoy the day, as I always do. -

Yeah, weather forecast not great, but there looks a possibility that the south east corner may miss the rain belt, To the meeting itself if The Kings show the same spirit and fight, and David, Adam and Connor up there form from what they showed against Dudley, then I cant see Storm taking anything from this, but bearing in mind Storm need all the points they can get for there play off hopes, I wouldn't be surprised to see Storm take an away point. So to summarise, if Kings show the same form they showed at Dudley they will win, anything less, and Storm will take some points. Stay safe guys. -

Hmmmm, yes i have seen James Sarjeant, and Rob Branford numerous times, when he is on it Rob is a far better gater than James hence, Under 21,s winner RB, and JS nowhere, who is the current Cov Storm No1 ?, RB. JS has a lower average, who would i choose to have in a side of mine out of James Sarjeant and Rob Branford ?? NO hesitation Rob Branford. I have probably seen both riders home and away around 10+ times, its my belief Rob also has a far better temperment . -
I dont know whats happening with Tom, but for me unless he improves his gating, gets a decent spannerman, he has reached his level.
-
Im not sure what meetings you get your figures from, but at the moment they may be a little mis leading bcuz, Dudley have only ridden in 4 NL home meetings so far, so naturally there averages will be expected to drop as away meetings are ridden. The top 2 riders i have seen at Dudley this season are Steve Boxhall and Charles Wright.

Ben came second when only 2 finished in Ht 4, Jack lost it on Bend 1 and fell, Ben slowed expecting an all 4 back, then tootled round at the back, then Greaves has Ef, so Ben got 2nd, only two finished, then Ben got a good 2nd to Morris in Ht 6, Then won Ht 9, and ran a last place to Morris, Blackbird and Boxhall in Ht 13. I think 21st must have been surprised when he did the texting, by the Kings having a go, and he got to excited . Im sure i heard on the way out Jack scored 6, which adds up, he was worth more than that, and Kings were worth more than the 39 that they scored. -
Nice to see Danny back on Track, hope he has his Steel shoe welded on , hows Tom, and when is he due back ?.

That is a harsh and somewhat unwarranted criticism of a young rider trying to make his way in the sport, he has never struck me as having a big ego, he deservedly won the Under 21 title, best rider on the night. I dont think we can say just yet he has reached his level, however lack of funds can play a big part in holding a rider back, as can not having a competant mechanic, and driving to a meeting, then preparing your own bike can have an efect, i know his dad has in the past flown over from Aussie, and during those times his scores have improved, i dont know if Chopper has got over here this season, but hopefully he will be able to, and support his son, as he always has done in the past. -

Good meeting tonight, with probably in my opinion some of the best racing we have seen at Monmore in the NL this season, Kings were superbly led by Steve Boxhall every race he was in was worth the admission money, Benji fought hard for his 9 points, Ben never stopped trying, Jack Kingston impressed me he never gave up, and in the 2nd of his 2 falls he was unlucky, as i thought Paul Starke may have taken him out,Dissapointed with David Mason who seemed down on power, and Connor who seems to have gone back a bit, and Adam Kirby was not the same Adam Kirby who rode as a guest at Monmore earlier in the season, although to be fair he had numerous ef,s. For Dudley i am yet to be convinced we will win the league, Max was obviously missed, and we would have had another 6/7 points from him, Nathan to me seems lacking both power and confidence, Gareth is inconsistent, and Dan where has the rider from 2012 gone ? he was out gating the best of NL riders last season, but this year he is rarely making the gate, and therefore struggling. However well done to both sets of riders tonight, a very enjoyable meeting. -

Anything is possible, but The Heathens are very strong all round, even if 1 rider has an off night, and Monmore aint the easiest of Tracks to ride, but i think all except probably Jack have ridden there previously, Max will obviously be a miss for the Heathens, but still cant see a Buxton type upset. Cheers waco, the weather is still as it was earlier, light cloud, with sunny spells, and you know yourself all the NL Teams are up for it when they ride in front of the Monmore crowd, hopefully your Ben will get the hang of the track one day soon. Should be some good racing between Stevie B and the rest of the Heathens, and for the Bronze Helmet, which i expect Steve to retain. -

Ha, now AJ didnt ask how warm it was, i have had a coat every meeting except one, The stand at Monmore always keeps the sun off track, and the supporters in the shade, a bit like most promoters do to be honest .
