Conflict of interests yesterday he is also Cradley Heathens Honary President i do believe. However maybe thats even more a reason the Track should have been better than it was.

Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures

So without being detrimental if Stoke had selected lets say, Kirby and Shuttleworth for the pairs would they have won ?. -
Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
greyhoundp replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
Leaving aside the PR Issues Stoke did have a better season, but what amazes me was everyone highlighting the Ben Wilson leaving, in my humble opinion the rider you missed most was the one rarely mentioned the loss of James McBain was the main reason The Stoke season faded from mid season onwards. -
Martin I can see you are a bit of a wizz with computers, coming South East as you look at the Pic there is an amount of ground which could be used, currently its a buffer between the Ind Estate and The Nature Reserve, its is the first squiggly line that you can see, its a fenced pathway seperating the Ind Est and Nature reserve, Now if that lands useable it alters everything, if its not useable then you are correct, but then again everything is down to Hulberts.
-
Taking your points, never dealt with Hulberts, Nowhere near big enough its my belief you are wrong, there is more land there than the basic 65,000sq ft stated, a Buxton type facility would fit into the land available, I know Iv walked it, not just looked try to google the land before you reach the Nature Reserve. Traffic congestion ?? I never notice much Traffic on Sunday evenings between 5-oopm and 10-00pm, I live just off Peartree lane and no-one has more knowledge of the Traffic situation than me, believe me Tommy i know. So its my firm belief that land could support a Speedway Track, The Traffic congestion can be avoided, but Hulberts need to be convinced to change (according to you) there attitude to leasing there land to a Speedway team. This land has been lying idle since before Cradley Heath lost Dudley Wood, surely an annual rent whilst waiting to build is better than nought ??.

As you say Joint Tenants in the NL would be workable, Im sure some supporters of both Teams would go along to watch important meetings
-
But who actually owns the Track itself ie who laid it, is it CVS who is responsible or is it Monmore Stadia ? i cant see CVS consentingto have the existing Track used for Stock cars. Planning permission would definately be an issue, houses not to far away, and Stocks can be far louder than Speedway. Personally i think this rumour is just that, a rumour.
-
Sensible post, however the fact remains, many sites have been looked at by both Teams over the years, and None have been suitable, somewhere in the Sandwell Valley would be an ideal location for both, on a long term lease, purchasing land would not be a viable option. I still believe Cradley need to approach this company with a view to leasing what is described as Phase 2 on the Plan, http://www.grazebrookpark.com/the-park Note the distance from houses. surely even Dudley Council cant object ?.

I always get on the M5 for 1 junction from Toys r us to west brom, past the baggies ground then turn left through Handsworth, not much difference time wise, maybe 5 minutes.
-
Currently The Stadium is used on Monday and Friday afternoon Dogs Tuesday Mornings/Lunchtime Dog trials, Thursday/Saturday evenings Dogs, Saturday afternoon its on standby for Dogs during bad weather on the gee gees.

Brummie yes the situation in the Midlands is very uncertain right now, and the possibility of only having 1 Track Open in a few years is on the horizon, Coventry, Cradley, and Birmingham needing new locations is unbelievable, leaving Wolves as the sole remaining Speedway team. The suggestion you say of Brum and Cradley sharing is common sense, however i would think EL would be a no go, PL for one Team and NL for the other could be possible, but in my Opinion NL for Birmingham and Cradley could have its merits especially with the banter between the 2 sets of fans. Its certainly dark times for midlands speedway, lets hope there is hope for us all in the near future, now more than ever we can see what Tony Mole continues to do for Speedway.
-
rubbish news to wake up to, Consideration needs to be given to Ride at Perry Barr along with the Brummies, a joint tenancy agreement needs to be considered, and if possible Brum to join the NL and us, this would give enough racenights for the 2 teams. Or the other way around it is one of the Two Teams to be PL and the other NL. howevever whichever way it goes, its worrying times ahead.

Its time the BSPA looked inwards rather than towards Frauds vision of winning the (European Cup) this is not the time for it, Speedway is like a dying Duck at the moment (barely keeping afloat) here in the UK. The engines have to be lower power, and cheaper to maintain. If the riders dont like it, then there is Poland, Sweden and Denmark to ride in. Im hearing a single race night is going to be the way forward for The Elite League (Monday) that in itself isnt going to solve Speedways problems in the UK, thats pampering to Frauds vision, The fact is The Majority of Teams in the UK cant afford the highest earning riders anyway, gates of 800 to 1000 at £17 to £20 are uneconomic, we have to cut our cloth accordingly. Check out the facts, a dwindling supporter base, average age alarmingly high, Supporters costs going through the roof, Rider costs spiraling, Those all need to be addressed before we even look at the product itself, Double Uppers,Treble Uppers, Double Points, Guests, Time between races, Presentation, Track Prep, all need to be looked at improved or done away with, its the Whole Package that needs improving. The BSPA really needs to look at the bigger picture but within the UK, can they do it ? (yes they can) will they do it ? I very much doubt it.

Oh dear, he had beaten Storm No1 in his first ride, was in 3rd when he pulled out of his second, do you really believe he wouldnt have scored more than his replacement ?. -
King's Lynn V Cradley Heath (koc Final) - 22nd October
greyhoundp replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Is Stevie Worrall actually riding?, i know he is anxiously awaiting the birth of his first child. -
Yeah the date for the 2nd leg was Tuesday 21st, but seeing as Coventry cant be arsed to arrange the first leg,I guess this has now become the 1st leg, can someone remind the Promoters at Coventry the season ends on the 31st. Is it any wonder Horton struggles to succeed ? look up the definition of promote, how can someone promote something, when we dont even know the date.

I think there is no need to include any ruling with regards 2/3/4 three point riders, the natural reduction to a 35/36 point max and 30 point min limit, would mean Teams would have to include them to get under the limit, the most interesting view is are there enough riders to get ALL Teams over a 30 point minimum ruling ?.
-
Seems not only does the El, PL take precedence over the NL, but this coming Sunday 19th is a free day for all the riders involved in the NL PO, but we cant have it bcuz there is a stock car meeting the night before . I tell you what this is becoming a joke, whats stopping them having a 6-00pm start, and having most of the day free for track prep, how long does it take Mildenhall to prep there track from previous nights Stocks ?. To make matters worse, this weekend is a decent weather forecast.
-
Very good post Malcolm, and as you say the limit needs to be 35/36 Max and 30 point min, but has to be tied to the number of Teams competing in the NL.
-
Hunty whilst i sympathise with you look at the problems mate. Coventry Bees in the play offs, Somerset in the Play Offs, Edinburgh multiple finals, and the weather unsettled, also NL is 3rd choice in the Tiers of Speedway. 1, Check when the EL Play Offs are 2. Check when Somerset are riding 3. Check Edinburgh Dates Both Teams are trying there best to Track full strength Teams, already we know this week at least one rider has another commitment,so first free date will be Sunday.

Agree with that also.

Agreed with most of what you say, yes the site had potential but it was the wrong Track and unfortunately the wrong time.
