  1. Well i wouldnt think it is a risk for Cradley, so i would guess you are hinting at the Brummies, my take on this is that (NL) is the only way back for Brum at this moment in time. and if the 2nd city cant support NL racing at £10 or so, then it doesnt deserve Speedway, yes Speedway itself has big problems which need sorting out, and i dont mean points limits and doubling up, or double points, but if the BSPA grasp the nettle then there is a place for The Brummies.
  2. Yes maybe it wouldnt attract local fans to Perry Barr, but if The Brummies and Cradley both rode at Perry Barr in the NL I do believe that would be viable, both Teams would have an identity and there would be cracking local derbies between them.
  3. Here is the video referred to by Ray http://greyhoundscene.proboards.com/thread/58338/panorama-video Whilst Doping does go on in the sport, namely the stopping of greyhounds, you can never make them run faster, it is only a very small element that do it or attempt to do it. For me the biggest scandal in the Sport is the allocation of GBGB Funds, you have people on Committees who allocate themselves Grants to, Improve restaurants, Put in Lifts, buy new Tractors, Car Park resurfacing, these are Grants NOT Loans, and its commonly known as the Gravy Train within the Sport, another scandal is family members being awarded contracts for work, when they are not even the lowest tender.
  4. As a promoter ? I didnt realise NL Teams were allowed at the full agm.
  5. Yes i would like to add my thanks for the very invaluable service they provide, many thanks.
  6. If you believe the bottom line , then you believe anything, but its good PR. For the end of season do, sold out weeks ago, a commemorative Brochure at £6, Champions Team photos at £10 but its for the Fans, so why arent they free ?
  7. Thanks Jayne..so its on a Tuesday at Monmore Wood ?
  8. Seems we are getting a little sidetracked from Is there any Come Back, to the general ills of British Speedway.
  9. Im guessing Brian the Heathens would probably be senior Tenants at PB, and Brum the sub tenancy, so The Heathens to share Monmore ? dont think that would be feasible, Im only basing the Senior Tenancy thing on the fact Brum may not be able to raise the finance for The Tenancy etc etc. Im a little concerned that Nigel Pearson only rates our chances as 50/50 for 2015, the last person who said better than 50/50 said it was a no goer a week later.
  10. Nice post Chris. I just hope the powers that be read the last half of the post, and more important take note. Speedway is an entertainment business, and its failed to compete and move with the times, post war the crowds were in 5 figures not much else to do. 70/80s the crowds were good 4 figure crowds, today for the most part they seem to be 3 figure to very low 4 figure crowds, there simply aint no where else to go from that, except follow Birmingham, Peterborough and Eastbourne. Iv said before change things completely, throw in some 1 lap sprints, is it possible to even have some jumps on a straight ? the whole sport needs to be reinvented, even if it means different bikes, and changing the Sport completely, the importance of the centre green announcer has never been more important than it is now. more inter action between riders and fans blah blah blah. Speedway as we have known it since the 2nd world war, is almost dead RIP.
  11. Nice post and sensible Double up. There are only from my viewpoint 2 options, let Perry Barr remain empty, and therefore lose a Track completely and 2 Teams, or Cradley Heathens take on the lease and run NL racing for the first season, but offer The Brummies NL racing at Perry Barr then we still have 2 Teams. The location of Perry Barr is about as far as Monmore is from Dudley Wood. If the present Cradley Heath promoters dont want to run the risk, then Nigel Pearson said way back, they are only custodians of the Cradley Heath name, so i presume they would offer the Team to somene else who may be prepared to take the Team forward at Perry Barr. Gary Patchett said on Tuesday he would do all that he could to prevent the Cradley Heath Team from folding during his watch. The various options for 2015. 1. That Cradley run out of Stoke, This has been tried previously to far away to travel reguarly. 2. That we run out of Leicester, again the same problem just to far away to travel for regular home meetings. 3. We attempt to take on the tennancy at Perry Barr assuming this is available, and keep our Team running and possibly The Brummies as well. 4. If No3 fails then i firmly believe that will not be down to a lack of support from fans, but a lack of ambition by others. I firmly believe that Cradley Heathens will be running in 2015, and with the current management, otherwise they are going to throw away all the hard work of the last 5 years, what league ? well i think now it will likely be NL again for 2015, however if its a success it should lead to us going PL in 2016. Bring on 2015 lets goooooo Ommering..
  12. Thanks and hard luck Coventry Storm In what way could it have been different ? i hear all this about Experience of riding Leicester Track, but ever since Leicester have come back its been known as a gaters Track, Cradley are not renowned for That, Dan G for me Storms rider of the night, yeah Stef had an off night for whatever reason, There was never any reason for The Heathens to bust a gut last night, they did a professional job, held on to what they had which was a 10 point margin. I would like to thank the Leicester Track people for hosting this, lovely set up that you have there, Track was in great condition and thats all you ask for in these meetings, my one gripe £1-50 for a Hot Drink. Well done to our boys, great atmosphere from our supporters, and well done to everyone for making it another great night, roll on 2015 whatever it may bring, i do suspect its another season in the NL now, wherever it may be.
  13. Yes Deanno, because they have changed the product, Speedway unfortunately has not, it still 4 laps of bikes followed by Tractor racing, followed by unsatifactory start, riders to pits, supporters twiddling there thumbs, and this with riders who dont even ride for your Team, and to top it all Deanno even the Tea is cold.
  14. Im thinking out of the Box, no need to keep council happy with names, Planning permission is there. as for being being a Heathen, a 352 mile round trip for most home meetings is proof of that.
  15. Sorry to disagree mate but wouldnt be at all happy with Perry Barr Heathens, jeez we ran out of Perry Barr as Dudley Heathens when we used that name i never once called them Dudley. If we want Cradley fans to support the Team we have to go as Cradley Heath, i tell you now, i wouldnt even go if its any other name. Give me a good reason to go as Perry Barr Heathens, its a mish mash of the 2 names and means nowt to anyone. Planning? the council gave planning permission for Speedway whatever the name. I am totally in favour of NL racing out of Perry Barr by both Cradley Heath and The Brummies personally i think it could work, and would be viable, No one seems to know what the rent is, shall we estimate as £1.5k per meeting, that equals 137 supporters at £11 per meeting if Brum cant get that then they dont deserve speedway. Yes i fully realise the additional costs involved but surely the rent is first and foremost. 25 year fan, 1 week ago i would have agreed that we have outgrown the NL at Cradley, now however its an entirely different situation, Firstly it would be a gamble to have the first season in the PL if we supposedly used Perry Barr, and secondly i think the NL will be a much different entity to what it has been recently for instance a tighter points limit than we have had recently with min and max points limits depending on the number of Teams involved, hopefully this would eliminate the regular 60 point results of this season.
  16. I think Coventry do this to boost program sales, but the Team line ups are on the BSPA site anyway, and are as you printed.
  17. Brian Buck you are a true gentleman, and i wholeheartedly agree with you. Regards Paul, Blackbrook road.
  18. Yeah, in the hands of WHEN will the rain arrive, no clouds and sunshine earlier, cloud building up now, everything crossed.
  19. The name situation isnt a problem, Edinburgh havent ridden in Edinburgh for how many years 10+ ? its hasnt stopped them being succesful, Dislike between Birmingham Cradley fans, i dont think so.. rarely have we been in the same league. I feel particuarly sorry for my friend Brian Buck, however i still believe Birmingham could track a team in the lower leagues.
  20. Theres always hope, that monies might help set up a NL Team from where ? well Perry Barr is unused at this moment in time. I have said since last week joint tenancy between the 2 Teams.
  21. Do you know whats the saddest thing about all of this ? we are on the 107th comment and barely a word has been said about the meeting itself. So from a Cradley fan i would firstly like to thank the riders for taking part, and trying to provide some entertainment. Congratulations to The Heathens on retaining the 4 team trophy, Paul Starke, Tom Perry, Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves, and a special well done to the 2 young boys in the Team Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves, they were both reserves at the start of 2013, they have both struggled somewhat in the EL FTD because basically they were not ready for it, however for the 2nd time in less than a week they have both starred and even outshone the more senior riders in the team, whoever ends up with them in 2015 (if Cradley dont ride) they will have 2 great young British prospects, they have made tremendous strides this season, and this will continue in 2015. Finally get well soon to Scott Campos and Aaron Baseby both injured at this meeting.
  22. Conflict of interests yesterday he is also Cradley Heathens Honary President i do believe. However maybe thats even more a reason the Track should have been better than it was.
