  1. Brum have the Top rider in the League in Adam Ellis, they arguably have the best Pair of riders, in Adam and Tom Perry, Zach Whatsisname wont be far short of being the best 3 pointer, IMO Ellis Perks is the best 3 pointer. Cradleys No1 and its pretty obvious now who its going to be, will be amongst the better No1s, but Morley, Ellis, Halsey, Sarjeant all have more experience than our No1, as for our Top Pairing, again Brum just shade it, i cant comment on other Teams pairs as i dont know who they are. In response to uk martins words of Cheque book Speedway, please tell me how poor little Cradley could compete with Coventry, Birmingham, Belle Vue, it wasnt only through the Cheque book. Brum are the 2nd city in the Uk, and let me tell YOU, its not for want of trying that Brum have NOT got Ellis Perks, they allegedly tried there damndest. If Brums best would get off there fat arses and support there Speedway Team, you should be able to walk this little NL league with all the advantages a second city has, and allegedly its NOT just Cradley trying to win at all costs. But good luck Brum i have nothing against you, but for people to point the finger before a wheels been turned, when its a case of if you cant beat em join em. Oh let me remind you Bruce Penhall signed as an unknown, Eric Gundersen was a reserve when he signed, Jan o Pedersen another who started at the bottom, Bobby Shwartz unknown, Lance King another unknown, Greg Hancock unknown and Billy Hamill unknown, from recollection the two big money signings were Phil Collins and the late Simon Wigg. Maybe your promotion in those days should have been a bit wiser as to what was happening across the Atlantic.
  2. Danny Phillips wouldnt be a bad call for your 5 pointer Vog. And it seems likely there is nothing holding back the signing of Moggo junior.
  3. Thanks for bringing this up, I searched for this at the seasons end, but with no luck. So "In the end" is the BSF 2014 NL Team Manager of the Year, well done to him, as for myself the years report has to read, "Could be better"
  4. The best for me at the moment is we have signed 4 very decent riders, and still have 19.71 for our final 3 riders, though Im fully expecting 8.58 of that to be used up when we announce our Captain at the end of the week.
  5. Yeah, i was thinking 3rd 3 pointer signed up nice mix between them, and loads of potential, it will be good to watch them progress as the season goes on.
  6. Ellis Perks Is following family tradition by joining Cradley, Official announcement follows shortly.
  7. Its Official Ellis Perks is the 3rd Heathen.
  8. Following on from our first 2 signings of Michael Neale and Nathan Greaves, who is being announced tomorrow morning ? it seems we have whoever this may be and another who is being announced at the Christmas party, apparently this rider will also be Captain.
  9. Looks to me, that they may be going down the only 2 X 3 pointers route. Personally i think Luke Chessell would be a half decent signing appeared to make some significant progress in the 2nd half of last season, even held the Bronze Helmet having won it up at Stoke, and he is on a decent average which he will certainly improve on. Its never easy to find the balance between finding your own youngsters and having a competitive Team.
  10. Zach Wajtknecht is the Brummies latest signing, Speedway fans are going to have fun spelling that name, i know i did..
  11. Birmingham Speedway @BrumSpeedway · 33m33 minutes ago SIGNING NO 2 is on the way later this afternoon folks... keep following us here and our website! #brummiesareback
  12. According to his dad, and i quote from Fb, "I looked at a photo the other day of Adam's first competitive ride on a 500 speedway bike. It was in the British youth championship at Eastbourne, July 2012…….. some people forget he's only been riding speedway a few years". So basically 2014 was his 2nd full season of racing a Speedway bike, and to get a 4.67 in the PL in what was is 2nd season in the PL was decent progress, the PL reserve position as we all know was far harder than the Elite FT scheme in 2014. As to why PL Teams were not knocking his door down ? only they and Adam know the answer to that one. I will hazard a guess, and its only a guess, his dad was disapointed that due to rules he could NOT spend another season (2014) in the NL to gain more experience. According to 2 Team managers in the NL Adam will be on The Higher of Adams 2 averages, 1 double his PL average which was 4.67 x 2 = 9.34 as a matter of interest only, his 2013 IOW average was 8.90. So it will be slightly tougher for Brum to Team build, but hey Adam Ellis is a fantastic prospect, and No doubt Phil Morris used his used his connection with Neil Vatcher (Lakeside) as Adam is a Lakeside asset, will we be seeing more prospects signed up from the British youth set-up ? who knows and who really cares? it certainly will keep other Teams on there toes during the close season.
  13. Jayne Moss has just confirmed its the higher of the 2 averages that Adam will have, so seems its 9.34 but i still expect him to improve on that, however Tony Mole will need someone like Ellis Perks down at the bottom end to compensate for a 9 pointer at the Top, with a 36 point max limit.
  14. Im guessing he has commited himself to Brum for the season, i think they have named him as Captain, but undoubtably he will be close to being No1 rider in the League not only for Brum.
  15. Brilliant signing for The Brummies, nowt else i can say.
  16. All teams are allowed 1 rider over 30, The other reason is if a rider has a PL average over 4 he cant ride NL unless he doesnt have a PL team spot, hence Stoke signed Ben Wilson in 2014, but lost him when he signed for Sheffield. Can someone enlighten me about this age 25 restriction ? its a new one to me. Paul Starke his PL average is to high, Dan Halsey has re signed for Mildenhall, I would want my No1 to have a higher average than Jon Armstrong, Lee Smart isnt the Lee we used to know. Maybe i can throw another name into the hat, but i dont know if he has ever ridden for the Brummies, how about local boy Ashley Morris ?.
  17. Im thinking probably Simon Lambert, surprised to see that Jack Lee wont be returning, maybe GD will return in the short term, however its not ideal when riders need to be signed. Maybe Tony Mole could invite Malcolm Vasey to do the job, no one has more experience of the NL than Malcolm.
  18. Well out of his year there was only 1 British Youngster better than him, and thats Robert Lambert, I think Nathan is either 16 or 17 and Max is probably a year or so older.
  19. Robert Branford, Ashley morris, or Max Clegg, Ash Morris doesnt expect to get clearance from his doctor until January, Rob Branford gave 2014 a miss, so that he could work and save for better equipment to give it a real good go in 2015, his dad also says he is riding well, and lost weight. Max Clegg is one for the future as is Nathan Greaves, Nathan is the better gater, Max is better from the back, 2014 was a season to early for both of them to ride fast track, they both ride Kings Lynn well. Take a look Simon Lambert Red, James Cockle Blue, Nathan Greaves white, Max Clegg Yellow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtdW5vyYvjw&feature=youtu.be
  20. Here is a website that you Brummie fans might like, will be nice to have some rivalry between you and the rest of us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/216596265131644/ It will be good to have some, wind up merchants on there, if only to put us Heathens in our place..lol
  21. Those 1/4 odds are a bit Skinny Savalas.
  22. Finally i found the quote from Nigel Pearson on Fb "Nigel Pearson Ian - the club has lost money this season and the only reason I referred to this fact was to try and address some suggestions that we are only in this for the money. Not this season, for sure, we haven't even taken expenses!! In the bigger picture of the track situation I agree, nothing to do with it. Cheers." Which makes it even more of goodwill gesture that Cradley Heathens haved pegged ticket prices at the same level as last year, now all that remains is for us to find another 5 riders.
  23. What do people expect to see, and what would they like to see from the AGM today ?. Im expecting to see the applications from Birmingham, Eastbourne and Rye House, and a New Minimum and Maximum points limit. I would like to see, No riders to return to pits after a false start. I would like to see the same formula for Heats as used in the Elite League ie 2 guarded reserves races, and Heat leaders racing each other more. The re introduction of a Tactical ride, when a Team is 6 points behind or a double tactical if a team is 10 points behind, instead of the current Double points ride. In my opinion its always better if a result is decided by gaining points on track, rather than being given double points. The KO Cup to be completed by the end of July, Teams can then concentrate on There League meetings. Also i have never been a fan of Play offs, however most teams see them as a money spinner, but dont seem to realise this then devalues ordinary meetings to no more than a qualifying competition.
