Where Are The National League Fixtures?
greyhoundp replied to OldHawk's topic in National League Speedway
We are discussing the NL here that has as its co-ordinator a certain Mr Peter Morrish, in case you didnt know, you will lucky if he knows its 2015, let alone its time for fixtures to be released, again another failure by Speedways heirarchy to move with the times, and put a forward thinking guy at the head of the NL, he is just another part of Speedways establishment who wont rock the boat, and just bumble along on his Zimmer frame as though speedway was thriving, and cant see the Woods for the Trees thats if he can see at all. -
I hate to put anyone down, but from my knowledge of the NL, i will take just to points made from the sussex bulldog statement, 1. Martin Dugard stated he expected Eastbourne to win on the road often, i cannot see that happening with the current No1, who for a few years now has been a "Homer" only getting double figures at home. 2. A good chance of winning the League Title, I really cannot see the Team a it stands winning the League Title, they may be lucky and squeeze into a Gold Cup place, but this Team is not strong enough to win the League. I think there nearest neighbours have a better Team, and several others, however i will be delighted to be proved wrong and wish The Eagles every success in 2015.

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.
greyhoundp replied to doners1234's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Its not about riders, teams or countries, this is about riders meeting the criteria laid down by the UKVI. For example certain other visa criteria have to meet a minimum income level of 18.600, so imo if they have to meet there criteria there is NO reason Speedway should be any different. I will say here and now if i can see ANY Speedway Team flouting the regs, of minimum average, they will be reported to the UKVI, By all means if you want a 5 point rider to be in your Team on a 7 point average go ahead, but usually Team managers prefer 7 point riders on a 5 point average. So if a visa is issued for a 7 point average, then the rider is included in Team building plans as a 7 pointer, even if he has a 5 average. I have to abide by UKVI rules, so should they.. -
Tsunami, I am pretty sure Dean isnt thinking its about promoters fleecing him, its more a point of "The Establishment" in this case The BSPA having there heads in the clouds, supporters banging there heads against a brick wall, because the BSPA wont/dont see the need for change, to save what almost everyone perceives to be a dying Sport, not only that, but they appear to not want to listen to anyone from the outside of there little Castle, nor can they see the walls have been crumbling for many years now.

Really! To your knowledge how many, i dont see very many trying to make there way in the MDL. West Midlands, Coventry to the South East, Wolverhampton to the North West, Sutton Coldfield to the North East and Hagley to the South east; within that area which is the West Midlands county then i would say, very few MDL riders. -
I agree with your second point, but your statement that Cradley took the Mick! How ? we operated under the rules as they allowed, Kent Kings, and Mildenhall both have there own Tracks and good attendances, and NO rent, so should have been able to compete with Cradley, why they didnt was down to them entirely, so show me where Cradley took the Mick. Stevie Worrall, Mat Williamson and Danny Phillips were there to be signed by anyone. Tom, Max, Cradley assetts, Paul and Nathan were at Cradley the previous season, so where is the problem ?.

UKBA; United Kingdom Border Agency, I have had dealings with them in the past, not succesfully i might add, If the BSPA mess them around, i can see this ending badly for none internationally established riders, especially if British riders are without a Team spot, which incidentally has been the case for many a year now. I have an idea that one of the criteria that is being talked about is that before a visa is issued, every effort must have been made to have signed up a British rider before a visa is issued, if thats the case then it could be good from the perspective of young British riders.
-
Well the clock is running down now to the start of the season, and the longer time goes on, without any rider announcements, the more the project seems less likely, Yes there are riders still available, but this silence from RH becomes more deafening with each passing day. I can understand that Andrew wants to choose the best prospects from any training school, and to do that it needs to be left as late as possible. However the riders that are to spearhead the Team, surely its possible to announce them?, and give supporters something to look forward to.
-
Maybe its the British riders who are trying to make a way in the Sport, but cant get a Team place, they are the ones who should be holding the meeting with The UKBA, the BSPA will only bend rules to suit there particular circumstance. For instance a new None British passport holder is assessed as a 7 pointer, but the following year if his average is lets assume say 5 points he can still ride here, surely if he is assessed as a 7 pointer to obtain a visa then he should be 7 or above for the following seasons..

Ashley Morris is looking for a NL team spot, i think his average is around 9+ but with only Hopwood and Chessell remaining a top 3 of Morris, Hopwood and Chessell would go well with 4 inexperienced riders.

Hmm, somewhat surprising choice, I have seen Adam ride a number of times, and whilst he has had the odd good ride, my overiding impression of him is seeing him either have engine failures or falling, having checked out the team i didnt realise Brum were starting with 3 newcomers, so Adam should stay in the team proper through the season, he has had more or less 2 full seasons of regular NL racing now. -

There are different kinds of riches i guess, Brum in comparison to some other NL Teams are probably Rich in terms of Stadium facilities, Rich in terms of Rider potential, Rich in spectator potential, but very Poor when it comes down to these potential spectators actually coming through the gates at Perry Barr. The old saying use it or lose it, has never been more pertinent than 2015 for The Brummies PL racing was tried with a measure of success, EL racing ended in disaster, and now NL racing is being tried in what can only be described as a final throw of the Dice, Tony Mole has once again been the savior of Birmingham Speedway, but should this season be a failure, i think even he will decide enough is enough, he has signed up a very good NL Team for 2015 even without knowing the final rider, if they dont challenge for League and KO Cup honours i will be absolutely amazed, it remains to be seen if the Birmingham public will support NL racing, but it will be there loss if they dont. -
Well we have Benji Compton, Ben Hopwood, Ash Morris, Ollie Greenwood, Rob Branford, Luke Chessell, Luke Priest, Adam Kirby, Tyler Govier all out there without Team places at the moment, some decent point scorers there and with potential to improve, which of these are going to end up at RH ?.
-
So as everyone suspected Arron Mogridge is the final signing for Cradley Heathens, heres hoping he has an injury free year and he can push his average up.
-
As you say maybe not the best, and definately not the worst, outside chance of the play offs, depending who that No1 is.

Seems that you can re declare even before one meeting, as Max Dilger has found out, but yes in Adams case it would need to be after the season has started. -
Jeez Max Dilger, Rebels would have been far far better giving young Nathan Greaves a Team Spot, it would have been a year of settling in to PL but Rebels would have benefitted in 2016, Dilger well how many chances has he had ?.

I have to admit, Phil Morris has used his contacts with Youth Speedway to good effect, cant really fault the Team building. It needs the Birmingham public to get behind the Team and support the Management in there efforts, and these young kids in there efforts for The Brummies, Im sure you will enjoy your Speedway again, no need to worry about if so and so is riding, this is your team get behind them, at £120 for a seasons racing what is there not to like about it. You will find these young guys are much more aproachable than some of there EL & PL counterparts. -
Ya Money does talk, remind me why Eastbourne dropped down?, not one but TWO divisions.
-
Correct i am not, so lets see who they could have signed, Ben Morley was never going to leave Kent, James Cockle pretty much the same as what Easty have already signed, Dan Greenwood Likewise, Jon Armstrong again the same as the previous two, Dan Halsey never going to leave Mildenhall, Adam Ellis i think he prefers a Track other than Eastbourne, Max Clegg & Nathan Greaves leave Cradley for Eastbourne ? I very much doubt it, Josh Bates & Sarjeant not doing NL this season. So of all the No1s they didnt appear to have much choice. Possibility maybe Mills could have been tempted. Lets look at the lower order, James Shanes they missed out on him to Kent, Aaron Baseby happy at Kent, Jack Kingston happy at Mildenhall, Coles more than happy at Mildenhall, i could go on but Im not going to check team signings just to prove a point that Eastbourne didnt have much choice. Granted Eastbourne dont appear to have a greatly attractive Team, but they should be able to finish mid table, and when Rye House finally name there Team, that will prove how difficult it has been this season to build a team, especially from scratch.
-
Its not been easy for Eastbourne to build a side from scratch, firstly with the 36 point limit (but that applies to every team), secondly they are in competition geographically with Kent and to an extent with Rye House, yeah maybe they missed out on Adam Ellis but did he want to ride on a track with Arlingtons shape ? plus Brum had a ready connection with Adam Through Phil Morris & Neil Vatcher. I think they could have attempted to sign Luke Chessell who 2 weeks ago said he had not signed for anyone at that time, plus Benji Compton would have given them a stronger No1 especially away from home, but we dont know if attempts were made to sign these riders.
-
Has to be Chris Widman i would have thought, cant see Stoke wanting to waste over a point in there Team building.
