  1. Ahem it was Cradleys home meeting, Iv no doubts thats what the Cradley fans will take to calling it, if we want to split hairs its The Alexandra Stadium.
  2. Atkin for Ellis means it has to be a home win for me, home Track advantage will count for more against inexperienced Teams, and Brum have 3 riders making their debuts a Loomer road, Adam Ellis would have been pretty nigh unbeatable and though Tony is very experienced around Loomer he doesnt fully compensate for The Leagues best rider. So Im thinking somewhere in the region of a 50 - 40 to 55-35 win for the Potters, but it will be good experience for the Brum riders.
  3. Parking in Poole is a nightmare at the best of Times, what with the Hospital close by and visitors to that establishment also looking for free parking, if you want to find ON street parking and NOT miss the start i suggest allowing plenty of time.
  4. Not as good As they think they are, or as some of us think they are, I have publically said even after last week that The Brummies are Top three material barring injuries, It was almost impossible for The Heathens to improve on last week, and barely believable that Adam Ellis the Leagues Top rider would have another poor night, added to that the Brummie riders ALL put up improved showings maybe only by a point or two,but that was enough to turn a 30+ point deficit around, 26 points from your Top Two, 13 from two middle order riders, that only needed 7 from your lower end which they got admireably, Harvie Banks may only have scored 1 point, but without that point Birmingham wouldnt have won, well done to all the riders. Porky is what he is, he is the Cradley Centre Green announcer, most of us Heathens love him, lots of away fans hate him, on nights when it is a 60 point procession he keeps the boredom away, yes he sometimes takes the Mick out of away fans, but he is a sound guy, he knows his Speedway, is quick witted, and can take the Mick out of himself, i wouldnt change him for anyone, he always without fail thanks the away fans for coming at the end of a meeting, as for being called a Clown he would be happy to know he is that funny..
  5. Well done the Brummies, so who were the guys that were saying Cradley will walk the league and Brum will finish 7th or 8th ? its not going to happen, this proves the League will be a lot closer this year, Okay some may say it was over after last week, but believe me, there is NO way Cradley riders didnt want to win that last heat local bragging rights were at stake, pride was at stake and us Cradley fans are NOT used to losing especially at home. This will do wonders for Birmingham speedway, it wont hurt Cradley either a diet of 60 plus scores was becoming boring, bring on the next meeting between the two sides. I wasnt there but according to someone on updates they said it was a big crowd, remember this was Cradleys home meeting so that alone would ensure a decent crowd.
  6. The rules as i understand are that the Highest Average rider must ride at No1, then your 2 lowest average riders must ride at reserve, the remaining riders can ride at 2,3,4,5 as the Team manager prefers, actually i was thinking the same thing last night, but i think many Team managers want a strong No2 to ride in Heat8.
  7. And if we all did that it would be pointless having an open forum, its what forums are about opinions. Some think Eastbourne will win the League, others disagree, some think Eastbournes reserves are the strongest pair in the NL, others disagree it all goes to make a good strong Discussion Forum.
  8. Thanks BrummieSte, i was thinking it was a weird move to get Phil back in after only 1 meeting.
  9. Looking at Sam Masters last night compared To jamrog was a little bit like chalk and cheese, I have NO idea what visa regulations allow these days, but if Sam Masters is allowed to ride EL surely that would be the way to go, just a pity the Edinburgh/Coventry racenights clash or it would have been a no brainer even for Horton.
  10. Im afraid this about sums up Wolves Speedway these days, they just dont seem bothered about the spectators, they seem to want maximum crowds with minimum effort. I will say here and now if Wolves struggle on Track Mr CVS will have a rude awakening with the size of his crowds, the days have gone when people will pay hard earned cash to watch a poor Team, people simply dont have the spare cash to waste watching a team get beat.
  11. Whats behind Phil Morris being Team Manager for Brum on wednesday night for the 2nd leg Is this just a one off ? I know Phil sorted out the signing of the Team, but then Graham Drury was announced as Team manager, now after just 1 meeting Phil is back Temporary or what ? i personally dont see the point in having Phil back if its only for a 1 off meeting, either he is Team Manager or he isnt.
  12. Dont be thinking Mike Neale is any sort of mug on a Speedway Track, he can look after himself, he spent a season up at Buxton and that as you will find out isnt the easiest Track to ride.
  13. Guys i hate to P on your Bonfire, but you are an Elitist Club just come down to the NL, you for the most part do not yet have any idea of the strength of the NL, we all understand the Trick Track that is Arlington, we are aware it is a big home advantage, but also it puts your riders at a disadvantage when they ride away, Im loving your enthusiasm, and Yes its great to have Eastbourne in the NL, also you must be aware that Mason and Warwick are pretty predominantly home scorers, I just dont see where you are going to get your points from away from home. I wasnt going to say about my Teams reserves but seeing as philipsr mentioned it, Neale and Perks dropped 2 points in 8 rides last week, so Im looking forwards to seeing Dugard and Woods scoring two maximums in there first meeting. I dont for one minute expect Neale and Perks to keep up that level week in week out, but they have set the bar high, and if they can do it once then they can do it again. Looking at the fixture lists they should both still be at reserve when you visit us in less than a months time April 22nd, but unless we have a rain off, it looks like at least one of Neale or Perks wont be at reserve when we are due at Eastbourne on May 24th, Im unsure how soon after the 4th meeting the new averages come into effect, the meeting at Arlington is the 5th Cradley meeting. Anyways guys the Eastbourne discussion pages have kept the Forum lively over the past few months, and i wish you good luck for the season.
  14. Its almost time for the 2nd leg of the TT Challenge for the Dan McCormick Memorial Trophy, how do you guys see this panning out? after last weeks Ommering of Brum. I see Phil Morris is the Team Manager of Brum for this meeting, is this a temporary thing or an occasional move ?. Since last weeks meeting, Brums No1 Adam Ellis has had a very poor few days in the meetings he has competed in at Ipswich and Lakeside, he took a fall at Ipswich in the Billy Sanders meeting and was feeling the worse for wear at Lakeside. He needs to quickly rediscover some form otherwise it will prove impossible for The Brummies to be competitive on Wednesday, remember they are a Top heavy Team, and this relies on Adam and Captain Tom Pom Perry getting double figures in all their meetings, Otherwise Brum simply dont have the strength in depth to cover a loss of form, so can Phil Morris quickly help Adam show some form ?. I have no doubts he will be a help to the more inexperienced members of the Team such as Alex Wilson, Zach Wotsisname, and Harvie Banks. I expect Brum to put up a better showing, but doubt they can turn it around enough to win on the night. The Heathens were simply awesome last week and their wasnt a weak link to be seen in the Team winning 13 of the 15 Heats. Im going to plump for a Home win The Heathens are at home this week lol and admission is £1 less than last week, 49-41 to Cradley.
  15. I have to agree with your comments with regards Marc Owen, i fully expect him to be Eastbournes No1 at the end of the season, providing he stays injury free. Whilst Mason is going backwards I doubt very much that you will see him in the reserve berth even with his poor away form, as for Dugard and Wood being the strongest reserve pair, well soon we will see, as its almost time for the talking to be done on track.
  16. To be honest you would have IMO been better off with Brendon Johnson in the Team rather than David Mason, Im guessing what you saw today was the David Mason that performs at away Tracks, yeah he will improve around Arlington, but his away form for an Heat Leader is aweful.
  17. Hunty, I like to read your posts especially as a fellow Heathen fan, but in what way do we have the pick of the bunch ? Mildenhall and Kent should be able to compete with us financially, in fact Kent dont have rent to pay, so should be able to sign whoever they want. Brum had 2 new NL riders in Zach and Wilson, Banks has as much NL experience as does our own Luke Harris, Adam Ellis has ridden at Perry Barr before so it isnt new to him, and as for Perry Barr being a tight track thats simply not true, and many describe Perry Barr as having little or no home Track advantage, next week should be closer, but as for Coventry giving us a sterner test i very much doubt it. Tom Perry has often shone for the Heathens in the past, but Tom has gone back a little, and these young Kids, Clegg & Greaves are still progressing, but Tom will still get regular double figures at Perry Barr, and they wont have to meet an on fire Cradley every week which should help.
  18. Whilst i am happy that we won, in some ways Im dissapointed it was by such a large margin, I want the Brummies to survive and getting beat by so many wont have done them any favours in front of a big crowd.
  19. Markyb, Profiles saying they have only recently taken up the Sport ?? surely that is what the NL is all about! or am i missing something?.Two seasons ago Max Clegg and Nathan Greaves were Cradleys reserves now they are senior Heat Leaders, okay the result tonight looked one sided by the scoreline, but its a Challenge meeting, basically to prepare for the League meetings to come, thats why both Teams gave there riders there full programmed rides, The biggest factor in the scores was Adam Ellis only scoring 3 points from his 4 rides, i doubt Adam will have a score like that again at Perry Barr all season, most of the other riders except for Zach scored what was expected.
  20. You can add young Ollie to that list, he seems to pick up an injury most seasons.
  21. Two pretty well balanced teams, and taking it rider against rider Ellis over Clegg, Kirby over Harris, Williamson over Chapman, Mogridge over Banks, Perry and Greaves level, Wotsisname over Neale, and Perks over Wilson which by my reckoning makes it 3 each and one pairing level. I wouldnt really expect the Heathens to use any T/R by the reserves as its only a Challenge, and as there isnt going to be any real home advantage this could go either way, Im pretty sure AE will get a 5 ride maximum, Tom Perry is the enigma which Tom will we get ? Im going to say he will score 11 from 5, Kirby, Wilson, and Chapman 4/5 each, Banks will struggle 1 or 2, and Wotsisname 6/7 add them all up and it will be a pretty close meeting. Cleggy 10/11, Nathan 10/11, Willy 7, Perks 7, Harris 2, Mogridge 5, Neale 4, Thats my neck on the block now lets see someone else come up to be shot down. Whatever happens looking at the forecast it looks like a goer, should be a packed house at the Barr, and hopefully the riders will all stay safe. I took this from the Cradley website, which maybe clarifies some points with regards the Invisible Trophy, "Wednesday’s meeting is the first leg of the Travel Plus Tours Challenge, hosted by the Brummies, with Cradley’s staging of the second leg also at Perry Barr next Wednesday, March 25. The winners will receive the Dan McCormick Memorial Trophy following the sad passing of the charismatic promoter who was with both clubs during a glittering career". So the winners will receive a Trophy, but it will be the late great "Dan McCormick Memorial Trophy" a fitting Memorial for a great man, who had connections with both Teams.
  22. Bet Victor odds for winning the PL 2015. Glasgow Tigers 3 Edinburgh Monarchs 4 Ipswich Witches 6 Peterborough Panthers 6 Somerset Rebels 8 Newcastle Diamonds 12 Scunthorpe Scorpions 12 Workington Comets 12 Sheffield Tigers 14 Berwick Bandits 16 Redcar Bears 18 Rye House Rockets 20 Plymouth Devils 25 EACH-WAY TERMS: 1/ 2 1/3 looks to me as if they have got it pretty much spot on, as Teams are at the moment, any one of the First 5 Teams could win the League, dependent on luck and Injuries.
  23. I notice the Bookies have you down as 25/1 to win the League, or in other words the Team least likely to win the League so therefore the weakest Team, as we all know its not often the Bookies get it wrong, so it seems again the management have got the Team building badly wrong yet again.
  24. Peterborough won't touch Ellis if they have any sense, Most of Peterborough's home fixtures are Friday night's which is also Lakeside's race night who Adam is owned by and rides for in the EL he'd never be at Peterborough So looking at 19.9.1.2 the moment Adam Ellis signs for a PL Team he would become ineligible to ride for Brum. I would imagine Adam intends to ride for Lakeside as he is there asset, and to complete a full season with Brum in the NL, he will do guest bookings for various PL Teams, and Cherry pick these dependent on what they offer, and how well he rides a particular Track. Thats my take on the Adam Ellis situation at Birmingham, why is that my belief ? I can recall his dad being particuarly dissapointed that Adam Ellis could not compete in the NL in 2014 as he felt that another season in the NL would have been beneficial to Adam Ellis,s career at that time, i have not read anywhere that his opinion has changed and Adam wants another full NL season, which will rule out signing permanently for a PL Team, indeed why should he when he can Cherry pick where and when he wants to take guest PL bookings, and still ride NL.
