greyhoundp replied to Brummie Boy's topic in National League Speedway
Well i was going to go along to this meeting, i dont think i will bother now, and why cant Promoters see this is part of the problem with British Speedway. -
Jeez how many more injuries only this week, Dan Greenwood out, Zach Waj out, David Wallinger unknown, at this rate we will soon be needing guests for guests and rr for rr, something has to be done.. For the people who have more knowledge than i whats the possible causes ? is it a combination of Bike set ups, track prep, or whatever else.. that is causing these accidents.

Heathens Planning Application
greyhoundp replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Press release from Heathens Speedway Supporters Trust. The Board of HSST would like to thank the current Management for their unequivocal support of the Planning Application submitted in respect of a new stadium by the Board last week. The Board would also wish to acknowledge the co operation of the Management in allowing HSST the presence of a Trust Table inside Monmore Green at the remaining Cradley "stand alone" home matches. The Trust Board would ask all Heathens Supporters to do all they can to back the Planning Application and to turn out in their numbers to support the current team in their remaining home matches at both Monmore Green and Perry Barr. We are all pulling together to get this application through Planning, further updates will be made available as and when we know anything.. What i can say is that we are going to book St James Church Hall on the Lion Farm Estate for a public meeting with local residents to explain the whole project, and ease any concerns that they may have, also we are talking with the Youth Club about taking along The Trusts Speedway Bike to the Youth club at St James church hall. -
This is my thoughts to help British Team Speedway; 1. Scrap doubling up/down i follow my Team that rider rides for my team, except for occasional Guest bookings. 2. Riders are paid solely on points money, this would hopefully end manipulating of averages. (how its policed is another matter), currently we have the contradiction of riders riding there hearts to win and for their team to win, only to find they get replaced by another rider supposedly on an artificially low average this HAS to stop. 3. One League or at the very least promotion/relegation between Leagues, plus development Leagues where Teams are allowed rider assets. 4. A British Speedway Co-ordinator overseeing the senior League racing. 5. Something has to be done about machinery ie costs and safety, im no expert but it seems to me that Lay downs, combined with the new exhaust regulations seem to have made Speedway more dangerous through the riders not having so much control over the actual bikes. F2 maybe could be a way forward could we have a F2 league ?.

Well while everyone seems to be talking about the planning application everyone seems to have overlooked this fixture, firstly will it beat the weather ? thats difficult to say because the forecast showers seem to be sporadic, however weather permitting i think if Cradley can hold Bv to 55 or less they will do well having said that i could make a case for Cradley to take something out of this meeting, Danny Ayres & Tom Perry should enjoy the racing circuit at the NSS, Dan Greenwood looked more on the pace against Plymouth, Joe Lawlor has had plenty of laps around the NSS, and if Connor has his gating Gloves on he could prove a handful, Dan Bewley is pretty well unbeatable around the NSS, and will have solid support right through the Team, so whilst BV will just have to be there usual self to take the points, some of the Cradley riders may have to ride above themselves for them to get anything ride with pride guys, and stay safe.

Heathens Planning Application

Whilst the linked topic is probably not directly linked to Speedway it does support what many locals already know, that The Lion Farm Estate is not only amongst the most deprives areas in Sandwell but amongst the most deprived areas in the whole Country, again this was another reason that we have chosen this particular site.. http://www.sandwelltrends.info/themedpages/IMD/Regional Again this project just has to improve the wider Community as a whole... -

Im guessing maybe they were intending to use him in place of the other reserve, as for the result a lot will depend on Marson, but if he has been given a 5 point average then Im guessing he will be in the Top 5, the reserves will decide the outcome of this, and by Brum not using Dicken i think that tells you who Dreary thinks is the stronger, i think Brum will win this.. -

There are some great posts on here, and i thank you all, every suggestion will be taken on board and investigated to see if we can work with whatever has been suggested. Yes Dean it is Junction 2, but i have to check whether or not its Jct 2 or 3, and i must have used it hundreds of times over the years. I have to say its nice to read the positive comments on here; We (HSST) are planning to hold a Public meeting on Lion Farm Estate where the late great Dan McCormick,s son Barry will Chair the meeting, Barry is a very good speaker in Public, a little bit of his dads gift wore off onto Barry. Gypsys!! The site has been used by illegal Gypsies over the years, indeed their was one occasion when i went over to the site that one such person aimed his 4x4 at me, and only swerved away from me at the last moment laughing his head off as i jumped out of the way. Had another very positive meeting with some local Councillors again today, their final words were "dont be shy come and see us again" i told them i needed to go as we were at The "Old Hill" show, an hour or so later one of those Councillors turned up at our display, and had her Pic taken on a Speedway Bike, and verbally told our Chairman and myself that she supported our proposals, she has no choice her daughter supports us Hahaha. -

Dudley Wood to Dudley 3.6 miles Dudley Wood to Lion Farm 3.2 Miles Lion Farm to Dudley 3.3 miles Sorry Rob i couldnt help pointing out thats its even more local to our old DudleyWood Stadium than what you actually pointed out.In actual fact Rob Cradley Heath is in Sandwell but Cradley Heath as a community has always had more of an affinity with Dudley geographically, Sportswise i guess the major alliance of Cradley Heath apart from the Heathens is with West Bromwich Albion Fc, and for supporters to get to "The Albion" from Cradley Heath most of them would go past "Lion Farm" on the way to the match. -

Heathens Planning Application
greyhoundp replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Despite what people may think or read on Private social media accounts, Its always been the HSST stance that they wish to work with the present management, indeed I can only see one meaning to the last paragraph, please read the re-produced Heathens Promotions statement; THE Heathens management would like to take the opportunity to offer the Heathens Speedway Supporters Trust their unreserved congratulations on their announcement that they have submitted an application to Sandwell MBC which could, ultimately, see the development of a site into a future home for the club. The Trust have been able to achieve something which we have been unable to in the past 8 years, but that's not to say there has been any lack of time, effort or expense spared in that time or by others before us. When you feel like you're constantly running into brick walls and treated as the political hot potato, as we have been with both Labour and Conservative led administrations at Dudley MBC, your motivation is severely challenged. We would urge all supporters of the Club to fully embrace this scheme which could finally achieve the ambition of every Heathens fan and ultimately see the return of their team to a home of their own nearly 22 years after the closure of Dudley Wood. Gary Patchett, Chris Van Straaten, Nigel Pearson - Heathens Speedway Club Ltd. Thats the official club statement guys, its been in local media, on local Radio, on Social media, I think it makes it pretty plain what is the aim.. -
Heathens Planning Application

I cannot answer for others, except that for me personally it has always been right at the top of the list of any potential site, we have canvassed Sandwell Planners, Sandwell Council leader, Sandwell CEO, and Sandwell Councillors, whilst there has been discouragement from certain areas, every Councillor that we have spoken to has liked the proposals, indeed one even went so far as to mention a partnership . We are nothing if not persistant, the area we propose to site the Track is an unused piece of scrubland which has been dormant for more years than i can remember, surely its better to have tried and failed rather than to not try at all.- 135 replies

Heathens Planning Application
greyhoundp replied to martin_t's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have been involved with this project since its inception, submitting the plans is the easiest bit, getting them approved is the hard bit, however as Speedway is only a small part of the whole project, we feel this is the way forward, and as many locals that know this particular area it is one that badly needs something like this; The Sports & Recreation Project will include Outdoor Volleyball Courts, Netball & Basketball Courts, Crown Green Bowls, Rugby Pitch, Cricket Pitch, Outdoor Exercise Equipment, a BMX & Skateboard Arena, plus a Cycle Speedway & Speedway Track. https://www.doogal.co.uk/ShowMap.php?postcode=B69%201JD The site already has numerous football pitches, and a barely used Clubhouse facility with 30 Changing rooms, Medical room, 2 Function Rooms holding 150 and 250 respectively, plus a small Lounge holding perhaps 20 people ideal for Sponsors.. and a lift for those that need it, logistically its almost perfect with local Bus routes having stops on all four sides of the site, its within a minute or 2 of Junction 2 of the M5.. -

What Went Wrong?
greyhoundp replied to cowboy cookie returns?'s topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The BSPA has to take a lot of responsibility for whats happened outside of the GPs, despite the fact that not many British riders are good enough to get to that level these days. Firstly the promoters do whats best for them for that season, then they do whats best for riders, and finally they do whats best for fans. Doubling up/down has to STOP, the riders are our Teams the Teams are what we have an affinity with, thats been lost with the doubling up/down ruling, Im sorry guys our No1 is not riding tonight, he is riding for his other Team, Im sorry mate im not going to watch tonight Im going to watch my "Other" Team... thats a big part of one of the many problems with British Speedway, if we HAVE to have doubling up/down then the Leagues have to have different race nights, but thats never going to happen because every season we struggle to even complete the league program, yet Iv noticed over the last few weeks of mid summer there has been very few meetings ridden, but in April/October when we all freeze our B**lls/B**bs off we are expected to stand there watching our so called summer sport.. -
Birmingham V Cradley Wed 5th July

Thats exactly the point i was trying to make, its difficult sometimes trying to make a point without naming names, three years without lifting a Trophy is difficult to accept, and doubly so when a local team that have always lived in our shadow continues to have the beating of us, and it cannot be down to a lack of support from fans, because thats just about the only area that we continue to have the upper hand. -

Nothing about timing, Its about comparisons.. simply that, and that this will be the third season now without silverware, NO i dont expect to win every meeting, but neither do i expect to be annoyed and embarrassed by the scoreline either, whats the term flattered to deceive ?, seems thats the way our seasons turning out.. -

Well done Brummies, as for Cradley they got what they deserved Ommered.. Brummies sign Hampshire, Cradley sign Rutherford that sums up the shift in the balance of power in the NL. -
But he did turn up, Iv noticed with the Team that i support the management are infrequently there to support, especially away from home.
