  1. With rumours on the Plymouth thread that Alfie Bowtell is signing for the Brummies, plus Nick Morris that leaves 2 places up for grabs, who would you guys like to see in the team?.
  2. Its not just Asians though is it as far as Speedway is concerned, we struggle to get white British/Europeans to watch Speedway never mind any other ethnicity. The product and its costs are all wrong to attract potential new supporters, to many to list here but if the alleged rent of 4k per meeting is true then Speedway is a no goer at Odsal, I think the maximum rent payable to make Speedway viable at Odsal would likely be in the region of 2k per meeting.
  3. I hate to keep picking you up on points, but the Team building has been imposed (as Barry clearly said in the press release)on the NL not negotiated, so im sorry but its not the same as the other 2 divisions which were agreed not imposed, as for the financial situation travelling to the Island brings added costs for spectators, officials and riders so it is slightly different to being on land.
  4. Dormant meaning not in use such as Oxford, Buxton, Swindon, Somerset, Coventry and now the IOW, not sure if there are any others lying idle at the moment ie Lakeside, by all accounts Rye House has gone or very close to being gone.
  5. No, the new Team would have been new to League racing, but we have lost a Track due to the imposition of rules by those that had previously had no interest in the National League, there only interest up until now was what Overseas rider they could find on a false low average that they could turn into an asset for their own benefit, now they have lost another Track for 2021 and i suspect that another could well follow in 2022, there are ways this could have been achieved other than the route that they have gone down, strict adherance to pay limits would have been one way to achieve this.. and we probably wouldnt have lost another track for 2021, now i suspect the NDL will be nothing more than a glorified second half with one man/woman and his dog watching, but hey its what the BSPL want so it must be right, not.
  6. Im sure Barry will take the oportunity to explain the decision thats been made, not least that it appears the NL has been taken over by the BSPl and brought in regulations that have made it impossible for speedway to be viable on the Island, of course i could well be wrong in my thinking..
  7. Arghhhhhh dam the BSPL no IOW which is a great loss to the Sport and argueably the most supporter friendly Promotion in british speedway are lost to the sport.. but " Its for the good of the Sport" is it heck.
  8. If i remember correctly wasnt their also some chatterings of a Team entirely new to League racing ?.
  9. Im surprised no-one has gone down this route, especially with streaming for a small charge to view being available nowadays, in fact i will be amazed if at least one club doesnt go for live streaming at a reasonable pay per view cost in addition to pay on the gate for this season, thats assuming the BSPL allow this to happen without affecting the current TV agreement thats in place.
  10. The middle of that bend has caused a few riders to lose it over the years, Sam was only one of them.. it seemed that when they were riding mid track they either hit some divot or whatever and lo and behold they were on the floor.. seen it happen many times from off Scotsmons bonk...
  11. I just hope the BSPl dont poke their unwanted snouts into a League that they know little about and ruin it for the stand alones..
  12. Fortune favours the brave or so Iv always been led to believe and Plymouth are certainly being brave, Im sure they have calculated the costs and looking at the website, there will be much more than speedway going on at "PACE" I can only hope that the Covid situation allows all the plans to go ahead. https://www.plymouth-speedway.com/
  13. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Plymouth+PL7+4NW/@50.3905983,-4.0831732,125m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x486cec5a6270a7c7:0x7876ec0529192a46!8m2!3d50.3897364!4d-4.0815281 Well done Plymouth they are being very bold with these 2 signings whose averages will be high, if they can get the 7th team place right then im sure they will do well in 2021, I just hope financially it works out for them as well..
  14. I dont know what the capacity is, but if Plymouth have to worry about Capacity then im sure the management will be thrilled. Their is from memory open banking on the 3rd and 4th bends, that in itself will hold a few thousand.
  15. Congratulations to Plymouth, So where does this leave the NL especially the 2 stand alone tracks ?, I have been out of the loop for a while but understood some of the Profesional Teams were looking to run teams in the NL, however the big questions will be of what standard of rider will a more NL Development League consist of, and will the fixtures consist of a second half type meeting for the majority of profesional Teams ? those in my opinion will be the main discussion points for the NL/NDL to decide, I believe that the standard of rider can be overcome, but have serious doubts that Mildenhall and the IOW would be viable should the majority of profesional Teams decide to have there NDL Teams as a second half of a main meeting, when i say viable i mean in the way that both these teams will be in the lap of the gods when it comes to curfews and such like should the meetings be basically a second half, and i cant see the majority of profesional teams wanting to put on NDL meetings as a fixture in itself. All in all worrying times for Mildenhall and the IOW as we as a Sport simply cannot afford to lose any more Teams from the Sport especially two Teams that have been mainstays of the NL for a number of years, the NL coordinator has some big big decisions to make but has his hands tied by the profesional teams being able to say this is what we want take it or leave it, and should they leave it then its impossible to make up a League with only two Teams.. once again Congratulations to Plymouth on being accepted to the profesional ranks I just hope there can be a way forward for the NDL.
  16. Just use a debit card instead , never had to pay any charges when iv gone to Asia which aint part of EU..
  17. Yes you give the criteria, i will just throw an hypothetical example, If Cradley said they wanted to ride at Monmore in the Premiership in 2021 what would the response from the BSPL be ?, Its totally hypothetical as it wont happen.. but i think most of us know what would happen to the Ghost team situation, it would turn into "its for the good of the sport" or some other reason to allow it..
  18. But they are, Premier League allowed 3 subs from 9 on the bench, EL five subs from the bench, however this doesnt alter the fact that the BSPL like to put its spoke in the National League wheel, a wheel which it has little idea about how its run and tries to ride rougshod over whenever it doesnt like whats happening, such as not allowing so called ghost teams, a Ghost team will always attract a few more supporters than the Junior team of a senior team, those supporters simply will simply stay away. As an example Wolverhampton rode in the Conference League watched by one man and his dog, they changed the name to Dudley Heathens and we all know what happened then.. If a promotion wants to ride its junior team under a historic name whats the harm it it ?, BSPL answers on a post card please.
  19. Whatever the AGM decides its still in the hands of Covid, yes maybe the season can start in May or maynot, but the fact remains that so long as we have the various tiers of Covid how can any League run ? one week you may be in tier 2 so okay to ride, then there may be an outbreak and your moved into tier 3 and not able to ride, then think of the riders that are none British can they afford to commit to all their expense without knowing they are going to have a regular income ?, the British riders have the same issue but without the airfares, they all have mouths to feed and bills to pay. Whilst i like the idea of one big League what are the prospects of it being completed ?, maybe it would be better under the current circumstances to go the opposite way and have mini leagues, then Covid permitting the league winners could have play offs, i really dont know im just thinking out loud, but would riders be able to remain competitive with minimal meetings ie maintain machinery versus food on the table ?. I think 2021 needs to be treated as a one off.
  20. And with there nearest and dearest ie Swindon not running in 2021 i cant see any way that Poole would want to go back up to the so called top League, at least by staying as they are they will have local derbies against Somerset.
  21. I think following on from the most recent news conference, I would be saying to fans dont pin to much hope on an Easter start to the season, if the Tier system is still in place then how will that work, Tier 3/4 no fans, Tiers 1/2 up to 2000 fans, basically if the tier system is still in place then we cant really start the season, as an example prior to today Kent, Somerset can have fans but Birmingham, Sheffield cant have fans, how will that work ?. We simply do not know how this Pandemic is going to pan out.
  22. There are ways to get these Covenants removed whether or not the Covenant on RH is removable i dont know, with regards the lease thats surely something that needs taking up with the Leaseholder/Landlord whoever that may be..
  23. Im sorry to say Speedway is a profesional sport run by amateurs..
  24. RIP Bernie, he was Mr Cradley for a number of years, for me he was up their with the best riders Cradley have had over the years.
  25. Great to see all the positivity down at Plymouth, and a well done to everyone involved..
