Where Was Nicholls
Bobbin' Along replied to Speedwayleics's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'll agree with most of this - there has been no mention at all of why Scott wasnt there on Monday night or tonight, either by team GB or by Scott himself. With no official explanation, we cannot surmise where he was or what his reasons were. By the same token, I don't recall anyone saying that Sullivan had decided not to turn up because he thought he would be dropped - just that he didn't turn up for practice. You can't make assumptions about either rider. -

Mr Bobbin' thinks she's the best presenter yet - and I'll agree she's miles better that Georgie (the girl with the blokey voice) or that Jane Amogwhatsername. However Suzie Perry was, and is, the best IMO. Charlie did ask some very good questions. But honestly "What will you do now? Try to get as many points as you can?" And some one needs to tell her that with her microphone attached to her head she does not need to shout. -
Cardiff Sgp - Swine Flu Source

I love the bit where the chap says something along the lines of "it seems to spread when people get together". Of course it does - it's contagious! Numpty. I feel there should be a joke in here about Dansih bacon, but I'm struggling to find it.... -

When it comes to track preparation - is anyone actually an Olsen fan? -
Mr Kieth Chapman
Bobbin' Along replied to gatekeeper522's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Dear Powers That Be, Can we please, please have tracks like this for the GP season? Oh, and don't let Olsen loose on the Lezno track Thursday and Saturday..... Thanks Bobbin' xx After the woeful tracks we have to put up with throughout the GP season (and, to be fair, some domestic meetings too!) it was a pleasure to see world class riders on a fair, well prepared track. Some brilliant racing, and a track showing more than one line, even at the end of the meeting. A great advert for our sport, which has taken a battering just recently with all the silly rows, rules and accusations. -
Seeded Gp Riders
Bobbin' Along replied to paul84's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Bomber still in with a chance at the GP Challenge? If it goes well, he may not have to be seeded through. Personally, given that Nicholls has been seeded through this year and done chuff all, I would give a place to Eddy or Tai over him. -

Apart from the stripes, fur and whiskers yes they're exactly the same. Separated at birth! -

Gb World Cup Team

Is it just me that absolutely hates this way of referring to the younger members of the team? What do we call Bomber then - the elder statesman? OAP? -
TBF - If I had been born in Scotland, with all the bad history between England and Scotland over the years, I'd call myself Scottish and not British too. Just like I don't like the French - not because of anything a frenchman has personally done, more because it's a dyed-in-the-wool, deep seated feeling, probably due to the 100 years War.

Gb World Cup Team

Rob Lyon's choice did rather suprise me - after all, he said on Saturday that he would pick riders in form, and he missed out Rico. I personally would have put Rico in and not included Danny King - but then again, what do I know? I'm not the Team GB manager.... I think it will be an interesting round at Peterborough, but I'm not certain such a young team will set the world alight. Not against the oppostion we have, anyway. Perhaps he is banking on them securing third and a place in the run-off. In getting to the run-off, we have a chance to tryout bikes etc. at Lezno - it's like an extra practice. I know it didn't work out for us doing that last year, but you never know. -
Please read my post more carefully before you answer it. Done so? Good. Now answer me this question: Where did I say it was OK for any of this to happen? Nowhere, that's where. At no point in my post did I condone the actions of either rider, either before, during or after the fight. I merely stated that there was no actual fisticuffs until Nicholls pushed Sayfutdinov away, just verbals. I also stated that IMO Nicholls made the first physical assault - which from youtube is exactly what it looks like. I may be "mixed up" but your obvious fondness for Nicholls has blinded you to the point where you read what you want to read, and not what was actually written.

I sincerely hope this was tongue in cheek..... Why would it be good news that Leigh stopped racing in the GPs? One bad season in the GPs doesn't make him a bad rider. I'd love to see get back into the top 8 and get through next year. If he didn't, then at least he wouldn't rely on being seeded through each year like some riders I could mention. Quite agree with you. Until Nicholls pushed Sayfutdinov away, the had been no actual contact, just verbals. Nicholls physically assaulted Sayfutdinov first, albeit after provocation. Still, we should be grateful that at least this year the music didn't include the song he used last year by Ivor Biggun. That is at least a small mercy.

Oh well, what do I know? The track was the best I've seen at Cardiff, with some good racing - for once. Shame I had to watch it at home. I'm not a Pedersen fan, but even I thought he was hard done by this time. The ref was inconsistent - the incident was virtually identical to the one that Harris got excluded for, so it followed that Andersen should have been excluded too. Just watched the Prize Fight after Ht 5 again - Sayfutdinov was out of order having such a go at Nicholls, but Nicholls actually "threw the first punch" as it were - he pushed Sayfutdinov, who then retaliated. Up to that point it was just verbals. Pair of big girls' blouses. Maybe we should award an annual "Handbag Trophy"? Leigh was very disappointing tonight. He just doesn't seem to be able to get it right this year even though he's spectacular in the domestic scene. Poor bloke. Crumpy deserved the win - he was superb. Being away from the British scene certainly hasn't mucked up his form, has it?
-
My heart says Leigh Adams to win, but my head - rather sensibly - has overruled my heart. I can't see Crumpy winning this time - I think Pedersen will win it, Crump 2nd, Hancock 3rd, Andersen 4th. I think the Dane's luck might finally turn - goodness knows they've been a bit rubbish so far this year.

Gp Programme Generator ?
Bobbin' Along replied to Damon's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm afraid I use Danish Webmaster's one for the line ups only - I save a bit of ink by using my own design (fairly straight forward tables using Word) because it hasn't got the legends on the bottom and top. Added bonus being that I can print it up without the names if necessary and just add them when I have them. -
The first thing that went through my mind was "what a load of short-houses" (or words to that effect....)

And just what other types of tracks are there, pray? Well, it gave me a chuckle at least!

Pedersen Breaks Finger Having Tantrum
Bobbin' Along replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A) Yes But I'm guessing that your brother isn't a sportsman seen on TV. And that's he's probably younger than Pedersen. I safrican americaned when he got excluded - because for once he was right and wasn't at fault, but that just made up for all the times he has been at fault and got away with it. He did a fair bit of damage with that chair though - forget about breaking his finger, did any one else see what he did to the plasma screen? As for Scott Nicholls....where do I start? I think that one of the contributary factors has to be Tatum. Since he got involved in the pits, Nicholls has been getting steadily worse. It's strange that he can be quite breathtakingly brilliant in his domestic form - where Tatum ISN'T with him - and so dire in the GPs, when he is. -
Race Card For Göteborg

You're an absolute star! Thanks. -
Aside from Tony Olsson who has been learning at the "Great Master's" feet for a couple of years now - who would want the poisoned chalice that is GP track preparation? I was appalled - even Mr Clean couldn't get a decent race all night on a track he's ridden virtually every week for 14 years. Olsen's preparation completely ruined what had the promise of a cracking meeting. The comparison between the track last night and Scunny's tack n Monday was immense. I was shocked to see that Scunny had dirt on it - I've grown so used to seeing bald-as-a-badger's-nether-regions tracks on Sky that I had to ask Mr Bobbin' what the stuff was on top of the concrete. And Monday's meeting was the best I'd seen for a long, long time. Just one tiny little question SSP. Do you have any proof of these accusations? I know we all have our opinions, but.....

Speedway From Usa On Tv Now
Bobbin' Along replied to BritPete's topic in International World of Speedway
The problem is that it looks like it was filmed on someone's mobile, the picture and sound quality is so poor. I have to say though,it was interesting to see just how tiny Costa Mesa actually is. I'd heard it compared to a Polo Mint, and now I can see why! -

She might have been good in the '80s - but she mimed every song except one. Not what I would call "live" music! I agree with what you say about Edwin Starr - absolutely brilliant. The other act that stood out for me was Tony Hadley - his version of Delilah..... . -
