  1. OK thanks. Glad he's been found.
  2. Has apparently gone missing. https://www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/former-speedway-star-christopher-schramm-4151350 Sincerely hope he is OK and soon found.
  3. Have you tried the online chat facility on BT website? These can be a lot quicker than hanging on the telephone (cue Blondie song).
  4. Rye House website says adult & seniors get £4 off, £2 for students & children, £3 for disabled ticket holders. Seems to be right in line with the rules. http://www.ryehouserockets.co/news.php?extend.1525
  5. Bomber has been a track record holder at Rye House. Back when he rode for Trelawney. As I remember, he wiped a good chunk off the old TR at the time. Good omen!!
  6. So now there have been a couple of meetings at Rye, what improvements have people noticed? I've seen good comments about the stands but what about the track? Better prepared? 2nd bend camber gone, has it improved racing? Presentation updated? Program worth the money? Fish & chips worth buying now? Draught beer in bar? Car park craters gone?
  7. I thought exactly the same as you Bruno, It did take some time to get the thing working & with the help of YouTube videos (& encouragement from Steve Shovlar - Thanks Steve) I got there & am enjoying the benefits. Can't wait for the GP's to start now.
  8. Obviously some concerns over track preparation for next year but there should be more positives than negatives with this change. Could we now see a decent team, stadium upgrade continuing, new presentation, better communications from management, supporters club and who knows even better fish and chips and draught beer in the bar!! Not been to a meeting since the Doyle "get lost" statement, despite being a regular since the re-opening, but I feel a re-appearance coming on next season.
  9. One of the original "Web sliders" & she was certainly original. Good to see tributes from a lot of the old posters, nice to know they still look at the site even if, like me, rarely post. So farewell Shazzy, enjoyed your posts all those years ago. RIP.
  10. Thanks for the "heads up" I watched with great interest the league matches shown last year & hope to wander up to Ipswich this year to see some live matches. Would appreciate further news about TV showings throughout the year, if you wouldn't mind. I'm sure others would also be interested.
  11. And I hope to see you both this season. I've fallen into bad habits of staying home/in pub on Saturday nights & reading of what happened on & off the track has not yet convinced me to return on a permanent basis like I used to. I have missed "the startline crowd" though - good fun chatting to everyone about everything, oh, and jeeering the refs decisions of course!
  12. Hey Shadders, which pub did you stay at? Was it Graham's in Cannington?
  13. Tai can consider himself very lucky in the Torun GP. In all his races he didn't have that disc thing in his back wheel which should have been disqualification from each race. Check it out on Sky replays.

    Gote Nordin

Wembley lions signed Gote for a few meetings in 1971 to cover injuries & I remember seeing him then. Was surprised at his easy looking style & how he seemed unhurried by anything, but boy could he ride & score heavily. He was also a gentleman & didn't seem to have any enemies. Bit different to some of todays stars (no mention of GB v Denmark!!)
  15. Zetters, U the famous Magnus? Alias Zorro?
  16. Some of you may know about this website but for those of you who don't www.britishpathe.com is well worth a look. Put speedway into their search engine & some interesting historical clips can be downloaded for free. See England v Australia test matches from the 1930's, see Bill Kitchen on a rocket bike, see the last meeting at Custom House, see Hackney pre-season training 1968, see World Finals from the 1960's, Rye House in the 1940's, White City training, Belle Vue 1942.........you get the idea. The site is a bit tiresome in that you have to "buy" free clips & go through endless screens to get to your download but the end result is worth waiting for. Pathe made films up to about 1970 & have over 100 years of history on film. Search their site for more than just speedway, it's extensive. Norbold, you are going to love this!
  17. Surprised you could see anything Sean, the amount you poured down your gullet!!!!!!!!
  18. This is really bad news for me. I spent my youth going regularly to Wembley for football, ice hockey (OK next door at the 'Pool) & speedway. I feel like a part of my life has been blown away - shame they couldn't at least save the twin towers somewhere. Going away to hide in a quiet corner for a sob :-( :-( :-( :-(
