  1. its quite simple, riders demand high fees, promoters cant afford them but need to be competitive, promoters then have a golden goose, goose lays the eggs, riders eat the eggs, goose dies, promoters fooked!!
  2. speedway in Milton Keynes was never sustainable, why should it be any different nowadays? MK Dons, lovely stadium, virtually empty for home games. Basketball, all but died a death.
  3. and yet there are other riders who cannot forget what other riders have done quick enough.
  4. the lost revenue on turnstyle income could be made up by having it as a pay per view event.
  5. how I wish that the sport had a Bernie Ecclestone, Eddie Hearn or a Frank Warren at the helm, our sport is a untapped fountain of excitement.
  6. spot on Jacques, I wonder if he ever needs medical help again he'll go private?...my guess would be no.
  7. nah its never going to happen is it, it would be a lovely fairytale ending but this is reality!
  8. Schlein is about as British as my Citroen van, absolute joke, he gets in on a technicality, if the speedway gods are looking down he'll miss out on qualification tonight!
  9. like I said he's found a loophole in the rules similar to other riders have in the past, does it make him a Brit?.... this may go against the grain in this day and age but to me he isn't a Brit, he's rode 95% of his career on a Aussie licence and now his career is all but done he decides to ride under the GB banner.
  10. He found a loophole in the rules, good for him but he isn't a Brit by any stretch of the imagination and should not be riding in the British Final. Wiggy, I thought he took out a Dutch licence to "help" his long track/grass track career on the continent?
  11. Here's the scenario. I have all the ability in the world but because I'm a fat bloke I'm never going to make it. I'm the fittest bloke in the world but because I have no ability I'm never going to make it. I am fairly fit and have ability but still never going to make it. I am the fittest bloke and have as much ability as anyone else, I'm still not going to be top dog. I am the fittest bloke, I have the same ability as anybody else and a selfish mindset but I'm still not going to be top dog. I am now the fittest bloke, have good ability, selfish but above all else I have my more than fair share of luck to reach the top.
  12. To me its fairly obvious, there are 15 minutes of racing in speedway meeting, yet meetings tart at 7.30 and finish at around 9.15 on average, stadiums in general do not have full under cover stands, pa systems that are pizz poor, announcers/presenters that are ta best average in terms of geeing up the crowd and keeping everyone entertained. Fans and riders used to moan about Frank Ebdon but maybe just maybe he was ahead of his time in pushing meetings through, todays youngsters are the one's that will need to sell speedway to their youngsters going forward, nobody wants to stand out in the elements for nigh on two hours for 15 minutes of entertainment and lets be honest most races or even meetings may not be entertaining!
  13. why be so facetious, it was a genuine question.
  14. these engines have been out for a while now, if they were as cost efficient and competitive as some believe then surely there would be lot more of them out on the tracks than there currently is, as we all know once a rider has a good spell and its put down to something totally different to what others are doing the vast majority follow suit. Is Fast Freddie currently on one of these over the counter engines?
  15. I've seen a lot of Brady over the years, yes he's very fast and fearless but I've always had the feeling that he is a crash just waiting to happen.
  16. getting large chunks on is hard but it is still perfectly possible...you just have to use your head, there's a few of us in a syndicate that bet heavily during the speedway season.
  17. its not rocket science teams making a loss, when a teams number one in the elite league earns roughly the same as twenty paying adults per race. then add to that the other six riders, then its obvious debts are going to mount up. Perhaps Rosco wasn't keeping Doyle safe and sound by not using him in meaningless heat 15s? The simple solution is.... promoters only pay riders out after all the other expenses are paid on a race night, sadly speedway is now a glorified hobby nowadays with a few promoters willing to risk their own money....
  18. but that theory is no different than buying a GM, Jawa, Weslake etc etc off of the shelf....once they are out of the shop they are open to all sorts of "abuse"!
  19. I think you are missing the concept of the meaning of off of the shelf, that would indicate that I could go and buy exactly the same engine as FF and then ride it on the shale without doing anything to it, your post indicates that this is not the case as FFs would be tinkered with and alas is a whole different beast. There is no way on this earth that this has any mileage in it, do you honestly believe that all riders will use the same engine without trying to find that extra advantage out of the engine?...very similar to does every single rider use methanol.
  20. Do you not think there should of been over twice as many in the stadium considering that the World Championship was all but done and that the champion would be a Aussie?
  21. Or maybe the voice of reasoning, if you think last night was good and entertaining then maybe, just maybe the sport isn't as entertaining and as attractive to the outside world of the current fraternity as some like you believe it is.
  22. a piss poor grand prix and a mediocre world champion(yes I know he can only beat whats up against him)...if people enjoyed watching that then good luck to them, I'm hearing there was 19000 in the stadium, so how many actual paying punters?...the tv coverage made the sport look shocking with vast parts of the stadium completely empty. Maybe its just me and my love affair with the sport is all but finished but surely even the most rose tinted glassed fan must admit as a spectacle it was dire?
  23. SCB/BSPA need to be careful in situations like this, as if Cook has a doctors note which he has implied he has, then he could be the one in the right and calling the shots.
  24. they're all cut from the same cloth, Corbyn is just the poorer option!
  25. which ever way you debate this it was a dreadful advert for the sport.
