Rye House V Plymouth 25th May
Odds On replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
And to think some Rockets fans wanted Len to sign Roynon! -
Really, I guess you have little idea of how much it would cost to bring in Rosen, the travel costs alone would be huge, uncle Len hasnt maintained speedway at Rye House all these years on whims like yours fella, I guess we should be happy that we have speedway to watch on a weekly basis....The team that we have is going to finish mid table and will be competitive.

Odds On replied to The Pedaler's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
why all the negativity people?....Rosco has a cunning plan that has worked on previous occassions for him, once things start to come on top(which they will) he will play his ace card....tears for the cameras. -
No Sky Or League Sponsorship Money Etc...
Odds On replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
if a rider can't afford to fund a hobby then surely they shouldn't start in the first place?..after all in reality a lot of riders do not make a living out of the sport. -
No Sky Or League Sponsorship Money Etc...
Odds On replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
so in a nutshell the money Sky gave to speedway in previous seasons has gone to waste?....its little wonder when you have guys on £100-£200 a point and promoters in the winter months being played off of each other by riders demanding higher wages. Looking at riders nowadays, most of them need at least two or three mechanics, a new and sign written van, more engines than they can count on one hand, engine tuning every week when in reality the real problem is the consistancy of the rider himself! The main and biggest problem is that riders are taking more out of the game than is coming through the turnstyles, harsh but sadly true, how is this rectified? In reality it is nigh on impossible but somebody somewhere needs to buck the trend and sooner rather than later. -

and remind me, what credentials does "Batch" have for being a NZ GP wildcard?....just wondering like!...if it's because he's the Aussie Chump then Scott Hicholls has just as much credential.

Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again
Odds On replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
does anybody know the date the offences took place, as I was wondering if this would have a knock on effect with drug tests etc, surely there is a time limit as to how long cannabis stays in the blood stream? -
No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?
Odds On replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
lest face it, it doesnt matter if its league or gps, speedway is on a sharp downwards spiral, surely someone cares about our sport other than the paying fans? -
New Zealand Gp.
Odds On replied to STARRGAZER1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
ever wondered why GP speedway isn't on Sky this year, the sport needs a radical view and a directive from somebody outside of the speedway world?...perhaps the sport isnt entertaining enough, speedway is competing in a market where the customer wants to be entertained, people dont want to watch 60secs of dross, of course "some" of the riders enjoy the track, three quarters of the time it is gate and go, if all was great with the speedway GPs, why haven't Sky jumped at the chance of showing it? -
New Zealand Gp.
Odds On replied to STARRGAZER1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
the track was awful last season and may I say in just about every GP, for the sake of speedway do away with Ole and his grand ideas at preparing a track, the public and the sponsors want entertaining, the sport needs to get away from the rolled roads that we witness week in week out, entertainment is the name of the game. -
The only three I'd have from this years team are Mellgren, Garrity and Bunyan, these three are the only ones likely and capable of upping there averages, not sure about Kasper to be honest. This season we have lacked an out and out number 1 and also a good strong second heat leader. Those knocking Bunyan I fail to see what more he could of delivered, came in at reserve, upped his average and all this on the back of a terrible injury, like I said its the top end where the problem has been not the lower end.

Awful advert for speedway in many terms. Awful track. Racing non eventful. Crowd non existent. After watching the Olympics our sport could learn a hell of a lot, attitude of riders, professionalism of the sport and organisers. Sportsmanship of riders in general, not just in GPs may I add. After the success of the Olympics our sport faces even bigger challenges from others in terms of youngsters wanting to be either a Farrow, Ennis, Rutherford, Daley, etc etc... Is our sport set up well enough to compete for youngsters to try our sport, attract new sponsors, attract people through the turnstiles, I believe the answer to all those questions is no. Speedway GPs are our sports advert to a wider audience, just how much publicity did the sport of BMX as a sport receive in one week compared to years and years of GPs?

For those knocking the Rockets have you ever thought that the budget Len has to play with building the team isn't a big one? Fans must take into consideration that X amount through the gate means only X amount can go into team building. Ftampton retiring is a blow but if the guys heart isn't it then fair play to him, once a riders desire to race is gone then it is best all around to call it a day, hard on the team but the correct decision. Fans are knocking the Rockets but they should take stock of what they've got, ask any fan from Oxford, Reading, Milton Keynes, Crayfird, White City, Bristol et etc and see if they feel the same about a team finishing no worse than mid table!
