  1. The only thing that has surprised me is the Swindon fans thinking a new stadium would be built.
  2. rolling at the start is the same as using model airplane fuel...cheating!
  3. do you honestly think a stadium will be built?..let alone for just greyhounds. Too many people have too many memories of previous promises of new stadiums.
  4. Ole Olsen was the master, at Coventry they even had to bring in a massive rope to try to stop him rolling!
  5. on those figures then the promoter would of lost money I would guess.
  6. so then, how's the new stadium coming along?
  7. would be interested to know what cheap deals Sky are doing at the moment, my contract is up for renewal and am thinking of leaving.
  8. who gives a flying fekk about the Aussies in the SWC, most of them are just good time charlies.
  9. a very good post by Steve Shovlar, I can see why Tai chose to ride in the likes of Poland, Sweden etc as opposed to Britain, the main reasoning being money, the one thing I don't understand is that previously he has said he was "tired" during a season, like most things in life you cant have the best of both worlds. By all accounts Pete Adams has been instrumental in his achievements and success in the sport, time will tell if Tai has anybody in his camp with that influential and calming manner.
  10. if Mr Schlein isn't impressed with our NHS then don't use it, quite simple really but don't moan about it.
  11. this may go against the grain but imho a sensible move from arguably Britains most professional speedway rider. The guy will have a calendar and if he deems a meeting less "important" than others then of course he will have to cut down on his commitments, its not just a case of two meetings its also the logistics, cost etc that will also come into the equation.
  12. Most of us that have supported the likes of Bristol, Reading and Milton Keynes have this inkling that the stadium wont be built ever let alone this year!
  13. but is it, most music fans can go to a different gig weekly, similar to a nomadic speedway fan which there are many, speedway is charging £15-£20 for 15 minutes of entertainment, this is the main fact the sport cannot get away from, add to that a track takes a couple of races to bed in and in most cases by the end of the night the blue groove appears its hardly entertaining is it.
  14. Barry Briggs was a half decent rider but his son Tony was shyte...the list goes on!
  15. doesn't matter who the seventh rider is the bulk of the team is pure and utter crap!
  16. I think your mentality on the subject is what is wrong with speedway, the sport needs its owners/promoters just as much as the top riders, if not I would say even more than the top riders......the top riders have creamed the sport and its sponsors for too long, the well has nearly run dry.
  17. thinking out of the box it is most certainly is a possibility......whats to stop having an indoor tournament, similar to the old four team tournament but inside with a few different rules here and there?...yes it would mean laying a proper indoor track!
  18. Swindon do have a BAGS contract, they are the money spinners for stadiums.
  19. good for you sweetheart, who taught you that or is that something that's now taught in schools.
  20. simple solution put the cost to view at £20, that way the club gets the original entrance fee(£17) and the broadcaster gets £3, the viewer saves on petrol etc...everyones a winner....most speedway venues are leased to the speedway promoter so they wont miss that secondary spend by the supporter in the bars/food outlets....they could also produce an electronic programme for fans to download on line per meeting.
  21. spot on and anybody who thinks the American kid can sustain or better a 5pt average should wake up and smell the coffee. going to the likes of Pboro and Sheffield will scare the hell out of him!..maybe a sick note for those away days!
