  1. There are rules to stop this as is deemed "not Racing" but is hardly ever enforced by the referee as difficult to prove(ha).
  2. Not too sure but didn't a couple of riders stay in the caravan then when riders were away, a few volunteers had sleepovers.
  3. Probably not doing our Premiership then. Sat Berwick, Sat/Sun Liga2, Tues Ekstraliga U24, Wed Denmark
  4. Too true as in this year. True averages based in 20 meetings was far better but I think all meetings should be taken in to consideration.
  5. I have just read this topic from page 2 mainly through TJ signing for you. Interested if past/recent averages are used from different leagues as the final averages (past) were based on 20 meetings. Lambert signing for Belle Vue was his last Premiership average although signed towards end of the year, this last years averages were based on last 10, 12 or 14 league meetings. All getting too complicated.
  6. Glasgow did well, also, out of the deal with Basso increasing his average to be no1 & with forthcoming loan fees & is also saleable in the future. Win, Win Glasgow.
  7. Riders will always tell fans what they want to hear before the club & any rider can make any signing official.
  8. Similar situation could arise as in R Kinsley & C Coles this last year. Expected to do well in heat 2 & pick up the odd point elsewhere but 3 x 0's & you're gone.
  9. I would be happy with this 7 but it is obviously a "red herring" as Joe Thompson is our first rider.
  10. They already have & had back up weeks for many years so maybe they are after something else that we do not know about yet. This is something we should do in all leagues. Even in English Football, when teams are involved in Cup competitions at weekends, they have to play their cancelled fixture within 2 weeks of the original date.
  11. The Rising Star system, in my eyes, was there to bring on the younger, less experienced riders who should have moved up from the NDL & those with limited experience(less than 3 years in CL). Rising Stars should NOT be in the Premiership. The lowest level of rider in the Premiership should have a Premiership average of not less than 4 even if converted Championship. This keeps the Premiership at a respected level of riders from 1-7.
  12. Standard of machinery seemed to be an issue a few years ago as he did not want to ride Premiership so could not keep up with the big boys. I seem to remember early season at Birmingham that he blew a few engines before splashing out just before his injury.
  13. He also does a great job as captain and was on the phone trying to get riders to ride in 1 of our last meetings(could have been away at Berwick) Mostly riding at no2 with Dougy so a job well done.
  14. I think Connor will be on a lot of teams radar and, as been said, the Thompsons do not do well at Championship level at the EWR. Coles worth another go if need low average rider.
  15. Yes, some riders were taking "holiday" breaks but even with riders being unavailable or injured our dreaded evil of guests is used which we will not get away from. Where teams refused to ride on alternative nights because of too many riders unavailable/injured needs addressing. We all would like to see "our" team racing most weeks but know it is almost impossible & I would think this last year, throughout each week had 8+ guests in.
  16. Yes you could do that also but your secondary off night, as in your(Poole) night this year, you used a couple of Fridays which 4 teams, Edinburgh, Scunthorpe, Glasgow & Redcar, have as their main race night.
  17. It seems, on average, that there will be more fixtures but I would have blank weeks to fill in with cancelled fixtures. I know it might seem strange but having blank weeks means no team will be riding so should be easier for rider availability to fill in a cancelled meeting or even bring forward one. If the season starts last week in March, have free weeks in May, June & July or August. Poland had & have had in the past free weeks even though they do not race as many meetings as ourselves & it works but it does seem strange that they have relaxed their rules regarding riders riding in Ekstraliga plus 1 other league to 2 other leagues but have priority to race some Thursdays.
  18. Official GSA's(10 meetings) are NOT a true reflection of recent average as there is a story in this weeks SS regarding this. A team could ride against 6 or 7 of the top teams & riders get a lower than normal average where, if you ride against mostly lower teams you would be higher. Also, there is the effect of rider manipulation where teams already in play off positions or teams in the lower reaches of the league will have less to ride for at the end of the league season so will try to drop their average to make themselves more employable the following year.
  19. Why does it say "Final Official Rolling Average" then for 10 meetings? I am guessing that the person who does this site works out the "Official" averages for the BSP Ltd/SCB.
  20. Is that at the start of the year or end? He did a cracking job for us at the tail end of the season, taking some memorable scalps.
  21. Go to http://www.gbspeedway.com/2022/searchriders.php?mc1=x&mc2=r&mc3=x&mc4=x&league=B&er=0 Don't forget British reduction to apply.
  22. I never liked the idea of reducing the number of meetings to get a new average as some teams/riders at the top of the league reduced their averages by being in the play offs, where as Scunthorpe, who were pushing for that 6th spot, made changes to their team, because of injuries, with the riders improving the team average by over 3.8 from August to September. For this reason, riders could become unemployable in 2023 with talk of a reduced team average unless we revert to a more sustainable number of meetings of 20 when ALL meetings should count. We have just seen that, in the Premiership, the 2 meetings on the 24th October should not count towards the averages in case of manipulation. Hence F Jakobsen is signed on his assessed 2022 average of 5.04 even though he should have attained a new average after completing 3H 3A on a 7+ average.
