  1. If the updates site is correct, Stoke refused to rearrange to ride today as they were missing ONE rider, Lambert & we said yes to get meetings out of the way missing THREE riders, R Worrall, A Birks through PL duties & S Nielsen through his 7 day ban through concussion. This is where the sports rulers should get a grip of things. But, then again, it is Speedway. No wonder people struggle to follow the sport or try to encourage new followers.
  2. Strange to stop Stefan not ride in ht15 as in the NL it is A nominated rider & not top scorer or by CMA(rule book 2009!) Our use of the no8 probably was because others were scoring points & theirs were not but it is about practice & learning. If you don't ride you don't do either!
  3. Unfortunately with the number of times i go to Sheffield to watch speedway, tonight is not one of them. I am working. Live cam of the weather just outside the Stadium/Casino. http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/utc/cam15.htm Initial concerns with 2 meetings following is will they get them both finshed. Start at 7, curfew later. Any dragging on of the meeting, fence repairs, serious injuries requiring the ambulance to leave will cause problems. But we will see how they cope. Good luck to the SAINTS!
  4. I have posted about this issue before & i will post again. This venture is for the good of Scunthorpe Speedway. In the past 2/3 years, most of the Saints meetings have been part of a double header, which at the price we charge, is excellent value for money. Sadly, the stand alone meetings are not well supported with possibly 350-400 supporters only. We are blessed seeing great racing at the EWR. How many meetings have you seen Tigers, Bears, Vikings & other race jackets being worn when we are racing different opposition. People want to watch speedway and will travel where ever. It will be the same for us at Sheffield. It will be well supported as they have a great fan base & excellent facilities. The price of fuel keeps going up but if you car share with 4 people what would it cost you? Depending on the Vehicle being driven, probably about £12 which is £3 each. I know a few people that, have in the past, travelled to the EWR by bus & walking & seen others getting out of taxis! How much does it cost them? Please, give this venture a chance as the new PL fixture set up has left us with very few fridays to fill. Not just NL fixtures but rain offs & success in the cup will take care of some of these.
  5. Thank you AndyP. That link was not there before!
  6. Adam Mckinna might be the grey area to correct the averages. I found this http://www.speedwaygb.co/nlteams10.html updated 8-10-10 so these could be nearer the truth.
  7. Thank you SimonB, as these were just the latest i could find, at that moment.
  8. i am amazed that there are a lot of posters that require others to do their homework for them here are some that i use:- BSPA National League-last year removed? http://www.speedwayinfo.co.uk/ConferenceTeams.html http://speedwayresults.com/ click on riders for individual performances Garrity 5.16 Howarth 6.61 McKinna 6.74 Mason 5.85 Widman 3.43 Richardson 5.16 Becker 7.53
  9. I think this is a great idea regarding the use of 2 tracks for a NL team. Was it an idea, last year, put forward by Rob & Neil that brought Dudley back, racing at 2 tracks. This year we have the tie up between Lakeside & Rye for the Hackney Hawks. Regarding the support of the Saints, double headers were always well supported & worth the money. Last year, the stand alone meetings for the Saints were poorly supported, & wrongly in my view, as the NL always gives the best entertainment. Reading through this topic, there are only about a dozen who are posting on here & you will find a few Scunthorpe supporters that watch speedway in Sheffield for their own enjoyment, so, i would think, there would be a considerable contingent that would travel & car share. I travel in car & on bike so there are opportunities for others to travel with me & i know of others that travel also. Support for the Saints/Prowlers?, in Sheffield, would not be a problem.
  10. you'll find out soon as a saint because of the merger with Scunny & Sheffield
  11. If you require any info on averages etc, try this site http://www.speedwayinfo.co.uk/index.html and click on National League

  13. What is the last bit supposed to imply It was a racing incident where Benji rode on the inside of Marc at bend 3 & continued round. Unfortunately, he clipped the kerb causing him to collect Marcs front wheel resulting in Marc breaking his collarbone hitting the floor before the air fence. His family & friends, who i had been speeaking to during the PL meet were sat/stood just infront of us. His mum and a few others ran, out of concern to the stricken Marc, whereas Benji had rode round to also check on his condition. Please edit your last implication as it is well out of order.
  14. The after meeting talk about how tracks are prepared will not wash with english promoters. An individual meeting is set up to be equal for all riders. Team events are set up for the home teams. As a lot of people voted for best track or best meeting, then come to Scunthorpe to see the best racing in English Speedway. A fair, wide track produces great racing with multiple race lines like Leszno. If you don't believe me read, the forums, get a copy of last years Sky meeting or get in touch with GRT Media, who cover our meetings.
  15. Taken from Scunthorpe website for info only; Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints rider Ashley Morris was crowned British Under-15 Champion yesterday after the final round at Workington yesterday whilst team-mate Kyle Howarth won the round and finished just four points back in second place overall. The destiny of the title went to the last race of the seventh round with both Saints riders capable of claiming the title along with Plymouth’s Josh Dingle. Morris only needed second place to claim the title and after two re-starts he achieved just that to follow in the footsteps of former Scorpions Josh Auty and Joe Haines as national champion. In the 250cc class Scunthorpe Scorpions’ mascot Reece Downes, who was the youngest rider in the competition, looked well set for a podium place but fell whilst leading the semi-final. Brandon Freemantle went on to claim the national title in after a race-off with round winner Robert Lambert whilst there was consolation for the disappointed Downes, who turns 11 today, as he climbed two places in the championship to finish fourth overall in his first season. After the meeting Saints Team Manager Malcolm Vasey, who was at Workington, praised his riders “Ashley and Kyle are two outstanding young riders. They are very talented and it has been an absolute pleasure watching them progress whilst riding for the Saints this season. They have a bright future in the sport and there were others here today who also have great potential. Young Reece is undoubtedly one of those but the disappointing aspect of junior speedway is the number of young riders involved. Quite simply we need to attract a lot more youngsters into the sport. At Scunthorpe we have our mini-track and I understand numbers are really increasing on that this year so hopefully that trend will continue and eventually we can see something akin to the 80cc scene that is so successful in Denmark and Sweden develop.” Ashley Morris and Kyle Howarth are next in action on Friday night, 25th September, at the Eddie Wright Raceway in the British Under-18 Final. They are joined by Saints’ team-mates Richard Franklin, James Sarjeant and Adam Wrathall along with Scunthorpe Scorpions’ Premier League rider Jerran Hart. Racing starts at 7.30pm. Results 500cc: Final: Morris, Howarth, Dingle, Sibson, Kirby Semi-final: Dingle, Kirby, Hoskins Final Championship Standings (unofficial): Ashley Morris 100, Kyle Howarth 96, Josh Dingle 94, Daniel I’Anson 68, Darryl Ritchings 62, Adam Kirby 61, Cameron Hoskins 56, Tom Stokes 49, Jack Butler 44, Lloyd Barrett 16, Adam Portwood 13. 250cc: Final: Lambert, Stoneman, Sibson, Freemantle Semi-final: Stoneman, Sibson, Archer, Downes (fell) Final Championship Standings (unofficial): Brandon Freemantle 98, Robert Lambert 98 (after title race-off), Nathan Stoneman 90, Reece Downes 73, Jack Cornes 67, Adam Portwood 65, Daniel Sibson 60, Steven Archer 52, Tyler Govier 45, Jack Jones 45.
