  1. I've been putting names down for a posible 2013 team but with the riders CMA's constantly changing here is my possible team. D Howe 7.89 CMA unfullfilled hopes in 2012, curtailed by injury & a snip at a lower CMA than at start of season J Auty 8.09 CMA although moving out of the reserve spot & into No2/No4 @ Birmingham, another year at Scunny will prove the changes made for 2012 were the correct decisions made. T Jorgensen 6.42 CMA improved rider in 2012 riding both home & away comfortably scoring well. Still room for improvement A Birks 5.59 CMA improved his average by 1.5 & riding well as a 2nd string M P Toft 5.21 CMA a dodgy start to the season but a top engine tune has seen the true potential. Still room for improvement. J Bunyan 5.14 CMA a great choice by Rye House to get Jason back riding again. Confident, fit & likes riding our track. We like him too. reserve 4.16 CMA remaining. Neilsen snapped up by Ipswich(the money men) Numerous possibilities from present PL resrves to upcoming NL rider. Any of the 5 pointers could drop to reserve if having a bad spell or the others improve to interchange. Richie Worrall 5.78 CMA has finished his 2 yr loan spell to Newcastle so could replace any of the 5 pointers meaning 2nd reserve would have to be nearer the 3 pt mark.
  2. Another accident that happened infront of me on bend 4. The nature of the track, when traveling wide then downhill, takes you even wider & into the fence. It did not look fierce with Cookie bailing off but, similar to Armstrong, consequences are severe. A good rider with enormous potential. Get well soon Cookie. I expected more of a tight match than what turned out & if it wasn't for unfortunate engine problems in hts 9 & 10, when in good scoring positions, the winning margin could have been greater. Though, this can happen to any team at any time. I expected more from Tully & Wethers. A good start, putting pressure on the others so let's see what this coming weekend brings. Well done to all the Scorps, even Bunyan, another good display from our guest. Deserved more than his 4 pts, 7 if not for his retirement, would be above his CMA, but i appreciate his efforts. Well done to all. Ju.If you are reading this, as well as our own forum, to support the lads up at Workington could have had an atmosphere similar to Mildenhall last year but, you were running this against possible bad weather but, more importantly, against the last GP. Sorry you have had to cancel the bus but many thanks for trying.
  3. After the meeting had finished on friday, i went to the pits to voice my concerns over the play-offs. I mentioned that if Newcastle picked Leicester, we picked Edinburgh, they picked Workington & that left Somerset - 3 friday teams with longest to travel. He said we needed to finish top to pick Leicester for travel & away support but if Newcastle picked Leicester, which he expected, we would go for Worky. All meetings against any in the top 6 would be hard, irrespective wether injured riders were getting back to fitness, ie; Howarth, Roynon, Cook & Tabaka.

  5. Rob stated last week that this meeting WILL go ahead, come what may, to finish as high as possible in the league, so i would have expected Tarpaulins down to keep the expected rain off the track as the showers were expected to stop around tea time. http://uk.weather.com/weather/today-Scunthorpe-DN16?fromSearch=true Although it is raining now & the forcast could change this meeting could have a late start!
  6. I've found this from "Cut off Victims & Thieves" Members 182 posts Posted 03 September 2012 - 02:41 AM Final day for Premier League meetings to count towards the play-offs was originally Sunday 16th September with a view to having a quiet week (or any cup meetings) leading up to the PL Riders Championship at Sheffield the following Sunday and then starting the play-offs in the last week of September. It was agreed at the BSPA's mid-July management committee to extend the cut-off date to include Saturday 22nd September thus giving most clubs an extra week to fit in their home fixtures. At that time, the two Stnday tracks, Glasgow & Newcastle, didn't mind missing out on the extension due to the PLRC as they hadn't been as rain-affected as everyone else and although the weather's hit them lately (Newcastle had only one meeting & 3 washouts in August), they're both still ok to fit their home dates in. The big problem is that everyone's scramble to squeeze in their league fixtures means none of the League Cup or Knockout Cup semis have been raced yet and with only 5 teams filling the 8 spaces left in those competitions (Somerset v Newcastle, Workington v Ipswich in the League Cup & Newc-Workgtn, Ipsw-Edinburgh in KO Cup) any rain-offs in those semis are going to be tough to reschedule.
  7. Choice of guest/agents has hampered all teams this year (barring when Howe & Auty have guested this year)
  8. ironscorp if the tracks as wet as the times suggest the normal set ups edin would use normally will be of no use, it levels the playing field. Are you trying to tell me that Edinburgh HAVE NOT ridden at home on a wet track this year! They must be the only ones to have ridden in good/best conditions then to have(had) a full house of points.
  9. Monarchs 39 Scorpions 54 with only 4 last places. 2 by Thomas in hts 1 & 3 allowing riders through. Well done on an excellent team performance. "Palm Tree" Toft outstandind going by the updates.
  10. Edinburgh, known for being a "trick track", sharp bends & riders need to ride it often to get to grips. Monarchs are weakened & are there for the taking but on paper, you still have to do it on track. It has been raining so makes it greasy & hard to get to grips with, i hear people say. It's been like it ALL YEAR so no excuses with set-ups though rider rustiness might come into it. The Monarchs should have had their bikes tuned up/serviced since their last display. We have got our noses infront & just started to pull away within t/r territory so things could change, but KEEP IT GOING THE SCORPS, if you can hear me.
  11. TMW. Thanks for the reply, as we have a few on here & our own forum that "attack the post & not the poster". It seems they know it all about everything as we don't as we say it as we see it. Comical, though, reading the replies. Berwick v Scorpions was another thread that had some "juicy" replies. Some posters have not got a life except for having a go at others.(Hoggy, also, had some replies on the Scunthorpe v Sheffield thread).
  12. Max Clegg could be another whose engine could go pop at any time. It sounds as it is over-revving/spinning as it comes out of bend 4. Maybe gearing needs changing to lower the revs as it could be costly. Maybe a family member or mechanic could stand on bend 4 for there assessment. Just a thought!
  13. Another good win for the Saints but i expected a better show from Buxton. With Birks scoring well in the PL it is also showing he is too good for the NL boys & there was a lot of experience out there. Young, Jones & Clegg had more than good but not great meetings showing that there is still a lot to learn. Clegg adapting better than most to the greasy, newly graded track for the Saints meeting which caught others out, but for me, same as last week, they need to learn how to ride, attack, pressurise & possibly pass by riding in the deep stuff. The younger lads do not seem to be able to turn & control their bikes in the dirt, but it's something to learn, which is what this season is about. Tom Young scoring some good points on well prepared machinery as he seems to have speed in his bike but, big him up as some might, he is not ready for a PL reserve spot which could destroy all the good work he has achieved so far.
  14. Scunthorpe Scorpions No1(or No5!) is back for another year. Thank you David. http://www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk/Scorpions-Howe-agrees-terms-ride-fourth-season/story-13809847-detail/story.html
  15. This is the latest i can give you, taken from the BSPA site in the NL section. http://www.speedwaygb.co/issues11/nl11_issue_26.pdf
  16. I, also, think this could be a close meeting with the results of ht 13 & 15 the deciding factors of how close this meeting could be. Most of the Mildenhall team have ridden the EWR racetrack at some point in their careers with also the possibility of Michael Lee tweaking their engines a bit could play a part. Hoping for a very enjoyable weekend with all riders staying safe. May the best team win at the right time of the season, the last fixture.
  17. Taken from Plymouth v Newcastle topic Group: Members Posts: 3,757 Joined: 15-March 04 Posted Today, 02:50 PM Don't think Richie is riding as I heard he has been giving permission to ride for Scunthorpe/Sheffield in NL play-offs (might be wrong though)
  18. Edinburgh not racing so Howarth is available, ex Saint. I would have thought with friday being chosen that phone calls would have been made to release the Saints from their respective PL duties. I hope!
  19. A challenge match against a NL play off S/F? I would have thought there would be a bit of lee way as regards an almost full strength Saints riding ASAP because of the weather & staging of the final(whoever gets there).
  20. Just 2 matches Thursday being Redcar v Somerset & Sheffield v USA select so i would think Sheffield would release Birks making Thursday the probable race night.
  21. No dig just replying to a quote from the updates. Re: Buxton vs Sheffield (NL) 28/8/11 3pm « Reply #34 on Aug 28, 2011, 4:26pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aug 28, 2011, 4:22pm, ironscorpion wrote: Victims of our own success. Last years Saints are this years PL reserves, deservedly so, but getting a decent team out, not just today, will make it easy for the playoffs when, if we make it, fixtures will be arranged around PL meetings so we have a weakened team. They wont as the the other promotion will see to that,Just been told that stoke were asked to got to Buxton today instead of us as we didnt have a full team, stoke refused cos they didnt have lambert, yet could have had any guest!!!! I wonder why they would go!!!! i hope we get to the plays of stuff stoke if that the case Read more: http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Buxton&action=display&thread=8694&page=3#ixzz1WWOXbMRh
  22. thank you montie. I was just stating that we will now suffer through the possibility of missing riders due to PL committments. Not just 1 riders but probably 2 or 3. Also, the double header meetings if a rider short we need to name a no8. Got caught out, again, today.
