  1. [ Josh Auty 7.93 David Howe 7.23 Ashley Birks 6.98 Thomas Jorgenson 6.89 Ryan Douglas 3.79 Taken from BSPA site from 1/9 Auty 7.57 Howe 6.34 Klindt 7.07 Birks 7.16 Jorgy 6.28 Douglas 4.67 It was only the carry over of injuries & not hitting the peaks of tail end 2012 that but the doubts of what would happen in 2013, plus not realy knowing how our reserves would perform in 2013 that hampered our start in 2013 but this is a good base to start from in 2014. Auty ave has droped but we know what he can do Howe a snip if injuries have succumbed & upper body strength to improve Klindt gave him his chance to ressurect his confidence & his final CMA might be about 7.4 Birks done well with move up to EL & deserves second season in double up role Jorgy as like MPT rides with decent riders that can take points off him but can win important races. Another season a must. Douglas as i thought was decent in Aussie but could not keep up with the progress made by Fricke & others. Towards the last few weeks surpassed them and supporters expectations. Nailed on for reserve in 2014.
  2. I know it's early doors but season almost over for the Scorpions, defending Champions, always a tall order, but as others have posted early 2014 teams here is mine, Auty done well in EL & PL but just might benefit from extra rides in PL Howe got his knockers but, to me, is an awesome rider & a snip at 7.23 or thereabouts Klindt hope he stays with us as we gave him his chance to resurect his confidence Birks as Howe Scorpion thro' his veins & move to EL has served him well. Does not need to learn small tracks so stay with us. Jorgensen As above just cannot lose this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Douglas now showing the points scoring ability that Rob saw in him. Maybe behind Fricke but another snip in 2014 No 7 3 pointer soe of the above CMA's might drop & rise so 1 of the above might miss out but as Rob tried in 2013, continuity of the team is important, if the CMA's allow.
  3. Any idea how they crashed? Kalle & Hynek came together on a tight line exiting bend 4. Both got up fairly quickly, thankfully. Kalle looked like he refused treatment, then went down on 1 knee where he then received treatment. How good was Jensen Scunny fans? Rasmus Jensen, for me, was the pick of your 2 Danes. Chased Auty in ht1, filled in behind Bech with Klindt not far behind both in ht5, won ht 8 beating Auty into 2nd who was getting close enough to challenge, team rode out in ht11 by Jorgy & Ryan but not far behind. Infact, just nosed ahead of Jorgy at 1 point but then repassed, if i remember out of bend 2, deserved his ht 15 selection but adrift of the other 3.
  4. Well said, David. Glad to see your still on here replying to your doubters. You're still a hero in my eyes, with the injuries in 2012 curtailing further improvement at scunny(as posted previously) & you, personally, getting in the top 10 average riders in the PL. Will gladly see you in the Scorpion colours in 2014 so don't discount us because of a few numpties that doubt you. Injuries take it's toll & sometimes you need to be out their racing when you shouldn't be, for a wage as it's not a hobby for you lads, it's a job, a dangerous one at that. A great show by the Danes just need Klindt to show a bit more craft of the racing lines to overtake at the EWR. When he gates, he is hard to catch. Kurtz showed that you don't always have to ride in the dirt to pass he he mode numerous moves up the inside. Very impressed with Jensen & Bech didn't take long to have a liking to our track, also, bar his t/r ride where he went too wide on bends 3 & 4 but his race with Josh in ht 13 was awesome. Also, nice to see our riders doing a 'Rye House' & team ride to victory. #prayforricky A nice amount collected for Ricky's family to help out in these difficult times. Around £970 collected at the gate rose to about £1150 on a further walkround by our turnstile girls.
  5. At the moment, Ryan is performing the best of the 2 reserves so i would move him to 7 fot team points scoring(no7 v no7 3 times). Do not allow the oposition reserves to score more than us.(in theory) #pray for Ricky.
  6. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the end of the 2012 season, we would NEVER have been able to keep the top 5 who performed to the end of 2012 plus our guests & Nick wanted to move south. On paper, we had a good side at the start of the season but some of the top 5 did not step up to the plate & the rserves were not good enough to step into their shoes.
  7. Oh, how people have short memories. To get a rider of Davids stature to ride for the Scorpions was an awesome capture. His injuries in 2012 & 13 have, somewhat, curtailed his progress & confidence but we all know WHAT David CAN do. A husband & recent father maybe changes his outlook to the sport but he has never lacked giving 100% to the Scorpions as shown, last year, supporting his fellow Scorpion riders to the title. This year, maybe, still carrying the scars of the injuries, has had an effect on his confidence but when he gates, he is hard to catch, but the incident of last friday has had a big impact of his future in speedway. Long track & grass track, maybe no no problem, but the close proximity of a speedway track has got to him, mentally. Hope you come out of this the right way, David, & hope to see you in a Scorpion jacket next year. Best wishes Ironscorpion
  8. Bellgo had been smoking in his previous ride, obviosly doing no harm. Very hard but fair riding on a a wide track by Smith & Ashworth but over shadowed by the curtailment of the meeting. Best wishes to Ricky & his family. It looked like a simple lock up that catapulted him over the handlebars, twisting in mid air.
  9. I am keeping tabs on Ricky's wellbeing throgh twitter & other snippets but the nature of the accident was due to Ricky using the wide line on bend 4(got 18 pt max before, riding wide) but seemed to shut off as nearing the fence causing him to go over the handlebars & twisting in mid air, looking like his back or head might hit the fence first(the air bags he had just passed). We have had numerous serious injuries at this point in the past as it is a downward stretch coming out of the corner. It must be hard tonight for the riders of most teams competing tonight, more so, Scorpions & the Bandits. A swift recovery is hoped for Ricky as he is in the best place, locally, at Hull Royal Infirmary.
  10. It seems everyone has their own opinions & sees things differently, it's life. As regards David/Ryan's incident, yes, it did seem a carbon copy of last week from the bend 4 stand but thats racing & wearing a helmet & goggles does not help your peripheral vision. Grieves did it in ht5 on Jorgy, Josh has done it a few times, also, Wilko in the past & you also see it in the GP's & EL racing. Sometimes their is contact, an exclusion or all four back. Also, David is a Scorpion all the way through his body & proved it supporting & helping the lads, last year, when he was injured. Give the guy a break. Also, on another topic, someone has posted that we swap David for Adam Roynon before he was snapped up by Sheffield. David can easily improve his CMA to be a top 5 rider when fully fit. Swap him! Not in a million years.
  11. Officially, like Ryan Douglas, after he has ridden in 4H & 4A league matches
  12. This is my post & opinion of last weeks meeting of which montie(the all-seeing know it all with tunnel vision)said that i talk crap. I am still waiting for an apology(but might have to wait). I am sure i heard this right, last night, when Rob said he thought it was going to be easy. WHAT! I do not think so as we are the champions & there to be shot at, a scalp or a feather in teams caps. We WERE awesome in the 2nd half of last year, after the changes, & covering for David &, later, guests for Jorgy, but this year we have been found wanting. The nature of our track leads to fair, exciting racing with numerous opportunities for riders to hone their skills during the winter. Yes, the track racing surface is diferent & not consistent week after week, but it is the same for all teams with the changing weather. We seem to be riding against teams that are on form at the wrong time & it is making us look worse than what we are but we are, & so are others, missing key riders, but others are coping better than us. We were hoping to keep the momentum going with our 5 from last year, supplemented by new reserves but it has not worked. Losing Irving just before the season started meant we were playing catch up with a quality reserve being able to step in when riders were not performing. Losing Jorgy early on did not help & r/r has not worked as Ash & David could get the points but Toft & a reserve could not. Both Jorgy & David seemed to be trying to find their feet again after their injuries of last year. Ash has stepped up but the others have not. Josh is racing for that no1 spot all the time. Cannot blame him but it is not helping the team. He is racing for the win & 3 pts for his CMA rather than settling for the 2 pts & protecting your teammate & the team. "Palm Tree" Toft has got no speed. If his engines were no good last year, then were sorted, what is the problem now? David now gets an injury when he commits himself to the PL & not EL but still has long track commitments, seemed to have been riding to test himself from last years injuries bar his last 2 meetings when he was going for it. As for the reserves, we knew Bates was not ready, not even scoring big in NL regularly, Douglas his bikes were not good enough for the PL & even though he used to ride the dirt alot during the winter in Aussie, it's a different kettle of fish over here & he is not scoring enough. Lewis was taken on, & i hope not just because of of his performance against us, as i checked his results of away meetings & this could of been why Leicester let him go. He has, certainly, not reproduced that form since. Why we are struggling at home is a mystery, but the opportunities are there for the riders to practice & wether they were or not, as i left after the injury in the 2nd half, the track could have been graded back and riders gone out to iron out the problems they have. The top 5 CAN do it as they have showed before, but it needs to be shown again, & soon, as fans will drop away, even though it is a fair, entertaining track, we need to be winning. On to last night & THAT is what we have been missing! Josh in ht 1 looked like he was going to race Jorgy after 3 laps but then settled for 2nd. Well done but look over your shoulder to look where the opposition is will make it easier. Jorgy, hold your head up, son, 'cos that was awesome & totaly unexpected. The lay off has done you good & the test on tue, riding in the dirt, obviously, tested the shoulder to the max. Palm Tree rode like he meant business & his bikes sounded like he had made a tweek(seemed to be reving or spinning more). Ash gave another solid performance, plus a bit more. 1st max for the Scorps so well done especialy against Tigers no 1. Davids 1st ride round the boards from the gate was typical of what he can do but did it niggle the injury. 2nd ride i don't know if he couldn't ride or had bike problems but then for his 3rd, Rob said he thought he had withdrawn & then could not turn the bike, hitting Ryan in the process. Take a leaf out of Jorgys book & take 2 weeks off. R/R might cope now with Josh taking a ride & any other 3(Jorgy, Ash + 1 other, going by last night). Ryan rode in the dirt & changed lines to the inside showing he is now getting to grips with the track. Lewis's performance is what we have been waiting for since he rode against us for Leicester. Well done everyone connected to pull off that performance & long may it continue
  13. It is fine outside at the moment & the forcast has changed from earlier in the week http://uk.weather.com/weather/hourByHour-DN16:4:UK so should be a good meeting(as long as not too wet from overnight & riders get filled in so it becomes follow the leader stuff).
  14. Looking at the stills from the traffic cam outside the stadium gives a fair amount of traffic turning in to the stadium. The rain might go past them but the rain might hit around 8.30, mid meeting. Rob really needs this meet to be on to get Ryan's 4th away league meeting for a new CMA.
  15. Just having shower in scunny(expected) & heading west at 13 mph according to metcheck
  16. Another missed oportunity, possibly! Did well in the David Howe Testimonial on old gear & borrowed silencer, mudguard etc. Could have done a good job in the middle order. Likes the EWR & scores decent away.

  18. Thought that might be a mistake as we are still waiting for a specialist report on his broken shoulder. Insurance, who you are & who you ride for as another rider with Scunthorpe connections(Tai) gets operated & sorted within 2 days to speed up his recuperation.
  19. As the title states, just commented on the Jorgy area. We know r/r is not working as David & Ash get the points but Toft & a reserve, collectively, cannot get the points that Jorgy would have got. We all know what Toft CAN do as he proved that last year, after his engine was sorted & the number of guest appearances he got. Has he got a problem with his engine, is it confidence, is he overtrying or as a champion, i,ve done it so it's easy now, but you have got to keep looking to better yourself, as others have done. As a team, the lads have upped their CMA's but they have not ridden to the highs of the end of last year & this is making us look poor. Coupled with inexperienced reserves, we have not been able to replace riders who have not performed with a reserve. We have missed the big reserve scorer that Heeps, Kerr & Dyer, who have all done well.
  20. I've heard a rumour J Franc could be returning to Britain. There is a story in our local paper that a new rider has ridden no1 before. Personally, i would have gone for a rider that we were chasing & almost got at the tail of last year, Mikkel Michelsen. Another young Dane so travel arrangements we are used to but depends how busy he is & if he could help us short term. He is riding well abroad & he could help us similar to Mikkel Bech at Plymouth is hoping to do. Ryan Douglas could get a new CMA based not on 4h & 4a meetings(not sure if league cup counts or just league) but on a rule posted by lucifer sam. This would drop his CMA & allow for a rider above Jorgys, so he could come back after his injury. I would guess this could be the hold up. This is just my guess on things as the rules are not simple to follow.
  21. The rainfall radar on Met Office gives rain around Glasgow but doesn't hit until 7. Then blows over quickly to give a fair evening so it all depends if the track was prepared earlier for a shower but give it a chance & run it a bit late. Do you have a curfew & at what time?
  22. A true quote but they are performing better than the reserves, & duly so. Top reserves that are making the difference are Blackbird, Heeps, Kerr & Dyer. Just a few mentioned but they are genuine 8pt NL riders who deserve their PL places. The gates are sorted as gate 3 had most wins in the last meeting.(Though i disagree using gate wins as a rule-it's to the 1st corner that gates count) New averages are given out to assessed riders after 4 home/4 away unless things have changed, if i remember correctly.
  23. Rob has stated that we are weak at reserve, & it looks obvious to the supporters, that if they gate, they can win but i have not seen or read of many overtakes by our reserves. I can see things in Ryan that he could be a good rider but just needs to learn different racing lines as we know the outside is, generally, the quickest at the EWR. He says he can't make changes until the new greensheets come out! Why? Other teams have! He has the option of redeclaring his team changing riders as he has 1.3 points to play with. Maybe he is waiting for the new sheets as Ryan is riding to about 3.6 which would give a difference of 1.4 from his assessed 5, 1.3 to the max limit of 42.5 for the team & Josh Bates(sorry Josh but i think it is just too soon for you in the PL) 3.0 giving 5.7 for a new rider. This would bring MPT down to reserve. This would be my change.
  24. Welcome Josh, to our class of 2013. Signed, probably, due to being on our radar thro' 125's, 250's & now 500's on our track. Now it's just a matter of riding order but mine would be as in my signature.
  25. With 4.3 to play with, it will not be a foreigner but the translater is for the dialect of the new rider. If he is a NL rider, is it a 2x conversion from NL to PL giving a CMA of 8.6 NL to use or has the conversion rates changed?
