This is an area that also concerns me. The track is approx. 2 miles from the bus station. There is a bus that runs with Tai on its sides but do people know him? To me, we need to educate the kids what speedway is about, & not what you see on the tv, Sky & Eurosport. We are NOT gate & go, we entertain with multiple passing opportunities. Videos need to be sent to schools, posters put up around the town(the circus, fair & monster trucks were always a plenty) a pick up bus either from the bus station or a type of circular route to be more direct to the EWR.

Official Teams For 2015
IronScorpion replied to madsteve's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ryan Douglas for the Scorpions http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Ryan-Douglas-second-signing-Scunthorpe-Scorpions/story-24561847-detail/story.html -
This is where riders should be graded AND averages used. Blackbird, for example, at 8.95 & 3rd in the averages is not a heat leader(Grade A) but is probably about Grade C. Kerr, Garrity & Worrall come into the same category. Bech, Lawson, Stead, Schlein possibly Grade B riders. Wells, Howarth, Klindt possibly Grade C. You could even have 3 Grade A riders, making a team top heavy but, by doing this, lose the opportunity for Grade B & have to sign 2 Grade C

It seems that there were a few areas that they did not know how to change/compromise to be right but then, who knows which is the right/best way? T/R rule I am happy with & also not used in aggregate matches. Yellow & Black helmet cover. Is this because when the yellow fades it can look almost white! So when the yellow/black fades it might look ...................black/white. In the EL points limit increased to 34 but only allowing 2 riders over 7. This is where, in my opinion, they did not know what to do. Heat leaders had a lower than normal CMA as they were riding with & against better riders more often. Some 2nd strings had a higher than normal CMA as they were riding with & against a lesser rider more often. The better Fast Track riders in 2014 ie; Blackbird, Worrall, Kerr etc will not be in a teams 1-5 as it would use up too much of the new 34 points for team building. This is an area where they need to adopt something similar to the European Leagues where gradings are used also. Along the lines of 2 grade A, 2 Grade B 1 Grade C & 2 Reserves. This could be an area where a Fast Track rider becomes a 1-5 rider on a % of their CMA to become Grade B or C riders. This gives more British riders a team place. Fast Track reserve guests, also have to have a lower CMA than the one they are replacing. The use of guests to make teams stronger is abused, in my opinion. The reducing of matches is a good point as too many rain offs have caused problems in the last 2 years. The Play-Off system is improved.

No, with extra points gained thro my hated T/R, also, not counting.

quote from Scorpions 2015 Reckon Ashley will be a tiger and thomas might need a broom wonder if his team will announce him on Halloween

It is just my opinion but judging by end of season racing Howe committed to Scorpions as got the no1 back Douglas said his permit would be sorted early. Possible double up with Poole(connections) Auty is now our asset & still a snip. Consistency required with poss EL. Jorgy proved what he could do with almost track record & paid max in last meeting. Birks prob not here as Sheff expecting ex tiger to sign last week. Holder unfortunately not Chris as no GP rider allowed in PL but probably Jack, Poole connections Perks proved almost unbeatable at last few meetings & with improved equipment could prove valuable at reserve A N other mmmmm, could be anyone. Probably not an outright no1 as Howe, deservedly has got that back, but a middle order rider of Bunyan, Skids or Bellego required to score at home but pick up 4 to 6 away.
-
It was the nature of he team to be strong across 5 or 6 riders in 2012 & 2013, hence no outright no1. I have said before that our riders can beat each other but also get beat with no one consistently scoring big. This has lead to Douglas starting at reserve & during the season being no2 in averages, Birks almost starting as our no1 but was, also, at reserve & Howe at reserve (carrying low scores from his injury ravaged 2013) & now no1. I wouldn't think there would be much tinkering in 2015.
-
"Birks is not a team player, doesn't look out for his team mate and is not particularly a good captain". What! Where have you been since Birks took over from Howe? No disrespect to David, as he had his own problems last year never mind the teams, but Ash has been a good captain. Offered his bike when needed to & this year, with Auty, how many 5-1's did they have at home, always looking for each other.
-
But this is how Rob made this team at the start of the season. Most could ride at no1, Douglas started at reserve but is no2 on CSA, Jorgensen has been reserve. Howe has been reserve, also, but on 2014 form, is no1 & now Ash is at reserve who, at the start of the season, was 0.04 from being our no1. All can win races, take points off each other, which is why, on current CSA's, are tightly grouped.

In 2012, we had some cracking guests that pulled out all the stops & rode for the Scorpions, themselves a nice pay check & put themselves in the history books of the Scorpions. I was very hopeful that history would repeat itself as 6 Scorpions hit top form at the right time, all capable of top scoring on the night. Now, with injuries to Ash & Ryan, my hopes have sunk. No disrespect to the riders that are guesting but they are not capable of filling Ash & Ryan's boots on current form. T Poole & S Boxall I was happy with to guest this week. My support will, always, be there. It is my hopes that have faded. Let's hope I am proved wrong. UP THE SCORPIONS.

Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
IronScorpion replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I am not a favourite of the rolling averages as they are based on too many matches over last, or previous year if injured & not ridden, but I do agree, if used, to shorten the amount to 22 so they can't be manipulated or abused. Also, rolling averages are used to determine who competes in the Pairs & Fours & this is, also, a pet hate, as it should be current averages for their current club they are representing. I also hate t/r & would prefer to bring back t/s in 2015. -
Benji guesting on Sat & Tom Perry Sun & the rest of the season. Matt tried to ride thro the pain of his accident Tuesday for the Scorpions Wednesday & Thursday but struggled to hold onto the bike. He will still ride in the NL though. There will also be an ice bucket challenge during the afternoon so expect some hilarity. I am not, at this point, divulging who will be targeted. So, turn up and see! here is an example & very popular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wPUvs66l2E&index=3&list=PL-DfNcB3lim97Wo9NQsItnYPs3l3-nv4G

I travelled back home from the 4's on sunday to find the services & off-ramp to the circle closed. This was not pointed out earlier on down the M18 so we ventured up 1 further junction to the A614 & came back down. I could suggest those from the north try via Crowle to join the A18 coming in from the west or via Humber bridge via M180 or through Winterton on the A1077. From the south, try M18 to the A614 to join the A18 or A46 then A15 coming in at the east of scunny.

A grippy track will differ from week to week & at different venues. The moisture level & make up of shale/clay mix, the weather being sunny or windy drying it out will make a difference. I, also, expected a tight meeting but all 7 Scorpions rode to a high level throughout. The match report on our main site has Williamson saying that he took his line & why he was excluded. Obviously, we all see things differently as earlier this season, i was at Sheffield where TJ came out of bend 2, seeming to hamper J Bates who, in turn, on the following lap ran into TJ at turn 1. The ref excluded Bates.
