  1. Scorpion's can't set bikes up, can't gate, can't win heats so will not win matches. How long is this going to continue for!!!!!!
  2. It is not just ex riders but present day riders that turn up with friends that walk to the pit gate or through the turnstiles, having a few polite words & gestures with staff that is robbing our sport/promoters of necessary cash.
  3. The rules for 2016 were put in place at the AGM & voted on by all promoters & ruling body. There was, later, a fresh vote & a new Chairman(Chapman) & Vice-Chairman(Godfrey) & different Committee Members voted in. It was said & put in print(Speedway Star) that they could not change anything until the next EGM or AGM so we were stuck with the 2016 Rules & Reg's
  4. Team Kevlars really make teams stand out but do we really know who's riding if they have the same suit, same helmet design, similar body shape/size & wearing goggles from a distance? Anyone can put a helmet cover on!
  5. Overcast with temp around 14C so the track prep should be spot on. Unfortunately, that means for all riders as we have no home advantage so expect Berwick's top 4 of Berge, Pijper, Doolan & TJ to outscore us riding the wide line getting 40 points. As the track was re-laid a few years ago, very few riders get into difficulties riding the wide line line as not enough dirt is there to upset them & this is where, I think, we could get an upper hand on teams by putting more shale out wide & getting our riders more used to it. Glasgow have done it so we need to follow suit. Getting beat out of the gate is one thing but when most riders ride 2/3rds up the track & wider, seeing our top riders getting beat by opposition reserves(Perry, Nielsen & Lambert) taking nothing away from them having the balls to ride that wide, is exciting but entertaining & winning has not been put in the same sentence for the Scorpions for a while now. Good Luck the Scorpions & hope we can turn it on & ALL riders stay safe.
  6. I have said this previously on many threads that when 2 riders of similar averages ride at 3 & 4(together for 3 heats) & 1 rider hits a rich vein of form, it makes the other rider look poor as his average drops & possibly confidence also.
  7. At most tracks, gate 4 seems to have an advantage so make all tape touching back 15m on original gate. It then removes the "done it for tactical reason".
  8. As has been pointed out, look out for the MDL matches of 6 heats after the main meeting. If you want to see more, though, look out for the British Youth Championship Meetings. We, at Scunthorpe, have had 2 already on May Bank Holidays consisting of an extra 21 & 27 Heats. Normal admission is £15 but yesterday it was only £17 for 42 heats. Also, look out for amateur meetings which are free.
  9. My post in 2016 Rain Offs, Postponements Posted 06 May 2016 - 10:16 AM Forecasting the weather is very much hit & miss as different websites have differing forecasts. On Monday, for example, rain was expected pm & it duly came then clearing, delaying the start of the meeting (see pictures on updates http://speedwayupdat...scrollTo=294115 ) After a 30min delay the 150cc British Championship Round got underway of 7 races after which the PLKOC match started where riders & fans were not covered in wet shale but dust (see pictures on Scunthorpe Speedway http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=5407 ) If riders, promotions & fans have travelled then give it a chance, if possible. Having a great promoter, draining track & track curators can make it possible.
  10. The ruling on being an asset is totally wrong. Any EL team can sign a rider & loan him out & never use him (eg S Stead) but in the PL, he/she has to ride in 12 meetings. Another rule (if I am right) needs to be addressed.
  11. some riders are like food labels ..........................use bye ....best before....sell bye
  12. At the start of the season our team plans changed because of the withdrawal of T Poole so we signed Klindt short term because of his Polish commitments. We then signed Morris short term because of Holubs injury with the intention of bringing Lyager in later. He has 2 bikes over here ready to race. No manipulation just a plan with a view to having assets of young riders that needed a bit of tinkering. We could have released Wilko & Davies who did well after 2 meetings but faded but Rob knew what they could do & gave them a chance to turn it round. The team was also built around a budget.
  13. I would think that the BSPA would turn it down "in the interests of British Speedway" as in the rules, no EL rider with a MA over 6 can ride in the PL. Also, Godfrey came on here to explain on behalf of the BSPA same as on the ill fated opening night of the NSS, Bomber came out to express the views of some of the riders.
  14. Awesome response from the fans for guest K Doolan. Rides to a 4 race maximum after he's been taken down in his 4th but awarded & his bike is wrecked. Interval is taken & a bucket is taken around the crowd to help his repair bill, which is half filled. Well Done!
  15. Holub started racing for the Scorps in 2015 & rode in 3 meetings scoring 12pts from 15 rides. He was then signed to ride for the Scorps in 2016 & was an Assessed rider on 7.00. To obtain a true MA, he had to ride in 4 home & 4 away meetings. He was subsequently injured before his 4th away meeting. His 4th away meeting was at Berwick last Saturday which meant he was to get an Actual MA 7 days later. He scored 23 points from 31 rides giving a MA of 2.97 but 3.00 is the lowest. According to the Rules & Regs 2016, 18.6.2.1 states "No rider with an Assessed MA, other than the Category 4 rider, can drop below 5.00 at any time during the season". I, also, found out earlier in the season, that in the LC t/r were allowed in the group stages & not KO stage, even though it states in the rule book that they are not allowed, to then find out that there are "sub" Rules & Regs which the referees have so all I can suggest is that there must be something similar out there.
  16. Keep it going guys & gals. 30+ more replies to become a "Hot Topic".
  17. And inside of Scunny. Just read my posts & quotes from the Rules & Regs
  18. So it's the rules that are wrong then! Ellis is an EL heatleader now & he doesn't ride in the PL but NDL(2 leagues lower) In Poland, therefore, this shows up where the squad system has faults
  19. Forecasting the weather is very much hit & miss as different websites have differing forecasts. On Monday, for example, rain was expected pm & it duly came then clearing, delaying the start of the meeting (see pictures on updates http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/15473/scunthorpe-newcastle-plkoc-02-2016?page=1&scrollTo=294115 ) After a 30min delay the 150cc British Championship Round got underway of 7 races after which the PLKOC match started where riders & fans were not covered in wet shale but dust (see pictures on Scunthorpe Speedway http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=5407 ) If riders, promotions & fans have travelled then give it a chance, if possible. 20. tut, tut shrimmy. Are you trying to wind lewy up? We don't cheat, we manipulate!!!
  21. According to our local paper, I would be very surprised if our team is not something like (after Glasgow meeting) Auty 743 Holub 500 Davies 653 Lyager 700 Douglas 705 Wilkinson 473 Bailey 300
  22. You also have Ellis & Newman "dialled in" at poole where as Auty is not. Do you think the poole riders are going to help Auty? He rides for Leicester!!!!!!!! Also, as pointed out earlier, he rode with/against Andersen, Kylmakorpi, Bech in ht3, Buczkowski, Lindgren, Kylmakorpi in ht6 & Andersen, Lindgren, Masters in ht10 & according to the updates site, was in the mix in his 3rd ride. How would Ellis have done?
  23. On Saturday, I ventured down to my local football ground to see 2 teams still with a shout, mathmatically, of a place in the play-offs. Our normal attendance has been about 3300 to 3500 depending on visitors paying full price. This Saturday, the last home game, it was "fiveorfree" meaning under 18s free & over 18s £5 if tickets bought on or before thursday. This ensured an attendance of 7300 giving an awesome atmosphere throughout the game. But what was the economics/takings of the game? Probably worse than normal so if the prices are reduced it's about getting a better atmosphere, hopefully.
  24. As montie & Lucifer sam have pointed out, why they do not have to change anything. Having riders absent means they can bring in guests/track specialists to get a win but it is a Newcastle select side. On the other hand, if the 3 riders named ride in the EL, the start time put back to allow them to ride in the 2 meetings, then have machinery problems or become injured how would that affect the Newcastle side?
