I still stand by my view in that if you raced in the EL, you achieved that average to be converted by 1.4 for team building purposes as you raced under that race format, f you want to continue in the, now, Premiership. If you only have a PL average, then that was achieved in the present race format, which is to be used in 2017. For 2017 in the Premiership, once an average has been achieved using the 4H 4A system then a conversion factor of 1.25 is applied (Premiership/Championship = 50/40 = 1.25) for rolling averages.

TJ is a gater with quick reactions that most referees pick on as an unsatisfactory start. He can, also, wind it on if you have some dirt on your track.

There is a mention of Alex in this weeks SS in that we hoped he would have a good year in 2016 but it did not happen. Rob gave him a chance, hoping to turn his form around, but, unfortunately, it did not happen, which led to us making further changes last season which proved very fruitful. He is on a bargain average, similar to Lewis, who could easily average 7 if fit.

Official Teams For 2017
IronScorpion replied to madsteve's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Apparently Liam received reduction therefore his average is 4.69 If that is the case then Josh Bailey, having ridden in the PL & NL last year(his 1st) should also get a reduction to 2.00 -
Being in the teams 1-5 means he will be riding with & against a heat leader of Summers, Worrall or Lawson & against the opposition with only 4 rides. Attaining a 6 average might be hard.
-
Exactly. At this time of the year, there are a few motor shows going on around Europe of which he could be attending or meetings to be attended. Our Motorcycle Show is on now at the NEC & has a stand there for speedway.

The silencers were enforced to reduce the noise because of the noise made at some stadiums even though when tested, & in some cases, still do get bogged down when riding in the thick shale & that's NOT a safety concern!

The points limit could have been brought up by anyone BUT is was voted in by the rest of the promoters. We have benefited by keeping the same team we ended 2016 with. How many fans would like to see that at their club?

Freddie Lindgren is the perfect case of the savings made during a season of less servicing/maintenance required but how many others have tried or are trying to use the GTR engines. As has been made public, Chris Harris could not get the best out of these engines & Jordan Jenkins, a young rider in the 500cc Championship who was also tried at NL level, saying that savings have been made at his level. Does anyone know of any other riders that are using these engines, wether at home or abroad, that have had any success or feedback during 2016?
-
I am surprised Rob is not on board with the limiters as he runs a garage & cars & motorcycles have "red lines" on the tacho with limiters used so you don't blow the head of the engine(valves, etc). When the tests were done on the limiters, Rob was there at the tests, so knows first hand what was going on. One of the tests was held at the EWR & a Scorpion rider used in D Howe.

Berwick 2017 50th Year

I posted this in our topic Posted by IronScorpion on 16 November 2016 - 08:47 PM in Premier League Speedway I am reading that the foreign riders new minimum average of 4 runs similarly to why the new British reserves have a new minimum of 2 because of the maximum team building limit of 40 is lower than in 2016. Posters quoting the averages from the BSPA website are the FINAL averages for 2016 & not TEAM BUILDING averages for 2017. Just look at the figures for the old EL as their figures have not been multiplied by 1.4 for conversion to PL. The figures in brackets in the PL sections are the old assessed figures. Also, not sure if British Reductions still applies as we have lowered the minimum average for British riders this year & our press officer is quoting J Bailey as 2.05 & not 2.00 -
Is there any news & pictures of how the development of the stadium is taking shape? I last visited in the "Tai" days but have tried to visit this last couple of years with the Scorpions, weather curtailing this!

In the pits, the mechanics & riders blip the throttle for engine warm up procedures. If the engines are over-revved before being warm then you have a poor mechanic and/or maintenance. At the start line, when all riders are ready, they rev their bike until the start light comes on then rev it more before the tapes rise. It is this last action that causes the problems.

You just have to look at how we finished 2016 to know this is a good team that know each other, know how to ride the EWR & should improve. Ryan proved, in his head, he is over the injuries incurred in 2015 & showed improved confidence at the end of the season. Josh A if only he could gate better with better set-ups to get him off the line. His hand/finger injuries might have played some part in his starting. MPT showed after he left P'boro what he could do with multiple guest appearances in PL & EL. Lewis is now over his injuries & is on most posters wanted list for 2017 but knows there is more to come from himself by being where he is wanted at the EWR. Fritz is THE entertainer & now being at reserve & not riding with Lewis should see an improvement. Josh B can only have learned from his 1st season in the PL so hopefully should see an improvement. So there is 6 riders that could improve by anything between 0.5 to 1.5 in 2017. Finally to Wilko, Mr Dependable who I thought had reached a level which is one of his best at his age. Maybe his stints in the EL has taught him much more & that he needed to improve his equipment, which he did in 2015, off Andersen I think, to improve more. If he does the same in 2017, I will be happy.

Where have you found/seen this? According to twitter SpeedwayGB "SpeedwayGB @SpeedwayGB Nov 7 UPDATE | The minimum average for foreign riders is now 4. -
Thanks guys

Just checked on twitter@ roryschlein he has signed for the Eagles, a club that races at home on a sunday.

I have 5 teams written down on paper based on what Rob has said about keeping most of 2016 final team in 2017(but we know he can wind us up at times to throw us off the scent. It is also based on a couple of twitter posts on the SpeedwayGB feed of, quote, British riders who haver never achieved a 3 point average can start next season on a 2 in both leagues. Where a rider has raced and averaged between 2-3 he will start next season on that true average ie J Bailey 2.05. The other quote being The minimum average for foreign riders is now 4. So, based on my interpretations 1. Ryan Douglas 7.18 2. Alex Davies( if fit & fitter due to winter in Oz) / Carl Wilkinson 5.41/6.21 3. Rory Schlein(experience & could be no1) 7.17 4. Lewis Kerr 5.98 5. Josh Auty 7.01 6. Fritz Wallner 4.00 7. Jack Smith / Tom Bacon / Josh Bailey 2.00 Team Total 38.75 / 39.55 Team based on "entertainment", word Rob uses a lot at home but, also, a team that could score points away.

The BSPA page gives 2016 PL Final Averages & not "Team Building" averages. The true averages with assessed in brackets might give a clue but at the bottom the riders have averages of 3.00 rather than true averages. -
The SpeedwayGB twitter feed states the "The minimum average for foreign riders is now 4" Does that mean new riders or riders that are still assessed at 5 will now have a true average but not lower than 4 in 2017?
