  1. I have took these figures from the final averages sheets from the 3 leagues Morris.................................................................8.72 CL Lawson...............................................................8.65 CL Newman..............................................................6.10 CL Clegg...................................................................4.15 CL Ellis...........................5.56 PL x 1.3 conversion = 7.23 CL Wajtknecht................3.21 PL x 1.3 conversion = 4.17 CL Morley.........................9.49 NL only so new rider 2.00 CL That is my take on it & it is well under on 41.02 even without the reductions for British riders having ridden in the NL for 3 years. With 1.5 points to play with, there must be some discrepancies there.
  2. I am sure I read it somewhere that new averages were reset in 2017 once you had achieved a true average in either of the divisions. Therefore, as an example, Ellis should be a converted average from the Premiership as he has not achieved an average in the Championship & similar with Zach. Morley will be classed as a new rider to the CL.
  3. Like this year, 3 teams will be racing on a Thursday but Friday has got more popular with Scunthorpe & Glasgow joining Edinburgh racing on that night. Throw in few meetings for Lakeside & Peterborough on a Friday & it will not be as short as some might think, just might not be regular with the possibility of 1 meeting in 3 weeks. It will be interesting if some teams are still interested in having Bank Holiday Monday meetings.
  4. I wish posters would stop mentioning Jenkins as they are posting on multiple threads that he is doing NL ONLY to concentrate on his exams. On another thread, it has been stated that you need 2 decent reserves to cover meeting injuries or r/r. Having a no 7 that can't mix it in the 1st bend & is off the pace, is no use. He needs to pick up a couple of points, more so, at home.
  5. This presents the opportunity to not race when it is still cold at the end of March, the reluctance to organise meetings due to the Pairs, GP & Fours(no World Team Cup this year but a new Nation Cup to be sorted) & no cramming in of meetings due to positions for play offs. We moan when there are too many & now, when there are, possibly, too few!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. So how many meetings will you want to arrange because of the World Cup? You know you can record it or watch highlights later. Who would you want to see playing football? England, Brazil, Spain, Germany, ...........
  7. Matt Williamson has said in the SS that he cannot ride in the NL in 2018 as his average is over 4. I think it also applied to Max Clegg at the start of this last year. The over 4 rule, though must only apply at the start of the season for team building as Clegg & Roynon came in during the season on 2 x CL average.
  8. Teams have been using track specialists for years as guests. Not allowing Scott to ride CL does seem wrong as now they are changing a rule 3 times in 3 years. What is there to stop a similar scenario for Scott to guest again at the business end in 2018.
  9. There were a few riders at NL level who guested for CL clubs but were out of their depth but gave it a go. Ryan McDonald & David Wallinger spring to mind but I would be pushing to get the type of rider like Phillips or JPB who are still 2-pointers & who have not been named is squads yet, although that doesn't mean that they haven't been snapped up, just not announced. A 2-pointer that can get you a couple of points in heats 2, 4 or 8 is required before he, probably loses his 4th ride.
  10. Riding at 3 & 4 with another decent rider, Musielak, taking points off each other. Always the same as one can look good & the other poor
  11. Think that might have been from being transferred as an asset from Scunthorpe to Glasgow.
  12. It is ok to have the experienced riders passing on sound advice to youngsters in the NL picking up an easy pay check but not in the CL.
  13. Well you have been pushing his name on the Scorpions thread for a while, so now you have got your man a year earlier than you thought.
  14. Exactly. I have raised this point many times over the years that a training track is a blue groove, devoid of any shale. Similar on P & P day, the riders go out on a smooth track for photo opportunities. What they need, as a team, is 2 consecutive days of riding & team bonding.
  15. Now it depends on what riders turn up for the winter series. Some riders will already have been snapped up by the time a decision will be made. Riders that were there last year includes JPB, Kinsley, Hampshire to name a few.
  16. That's when a good manager comes in to play in moving your team around. Having Heeps at 2 when King was on form, you might get lower points from him whereas if he rides at 3 or 4, his team mate is generally on a par so can then bag the big points when on form.
  17. One of the rules brought in was only 1 x 8-point rider in the Premiership & NO restrictions in the Championship. Now, they are re-introducing one!
  18. I would like to think that most of the minor matters that are rule related will have to go to the SCB. Once everything is "clear", then an announcement would follow. The minor matters that have grey areas are starting rules, sickies, injuries, non-attendance, final deadline signings are just a few gripes.
  19. D Howe retired through injuries in 2015 but after getting fit decided to give it another go at Berwick. Bridger was another who returned to the sport they all love. It's about getting your head together & getting that chance. A Davies did a few grass track meetings with a couple of top 3 finishes, also, spannering for a few riders.
  20. I wondered how Harris was allowed to ride for Peterborough with the "must not exceed 6" in the old EL even though a lot of the better riders had reduced averages because of the old race format.
  21. He was told when and where to ride by Belle Vue
  22. It depends on how you read into this as we have had the Danish team "Testing" at the EWR in the past but it seems most posters have took it on to mean "Test Matches", which would not be a bad thing.
  23. We have had Ryan Douglas on a 3 year visa & unfortunately, he has to have a years grace. There was only injuries every year that dented his confidence as he would easily be a 7-pointer in the Championship. Will be missed.
  24. just glanced through late delivery of SS & it seems like probably no Aarnio or Bailey. But then again, where's the "frog"? Probably a change in his thinking when other riders became available
  25. And that's before you start scrolling down!
