  1. After reading about the last 10-12 posts on here, if we were all perfect, the World would be a better place
  2. With the "Beast From The East" causing so much havoc, even a walk down the street & slipping on ice could be hazardous.
  3. I would like to see Danny as our no7 & I am sure Steve will have his input on Rob's decision as he would have kept an eye on him at the IOW training camp. Wallinger was used a few times last year & cannot fault his enthusiasm to ride for the Scorpions but feel with the standard of no7's in the other teams, he would struggle as he is only, at the moment, a 5.6 NL rider & little Josh B is an 8.9 rider who is being replaced.
  4. If the rider is excluded, no bringing in a better rider on the night(reserve), no 15m, rider suffers, team suffers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Similar could be said of riders being too good for the CL that ride in the PL, depriving riders of CL spots. If they had kept the "2 Brits per CL team", it might have helped. The adding & removing of certain rules, this year, will not help British Speedway.
  6. check your previous post! Byron is an ex Scorpion & is from South Africa.
  7. Clegg only rode 4 meetings as a 2.00 pointer for Wolves in the PL in 2017 so has not got a true average BUT he has an average from 2017 having ridden in the CL, so I would imagine that would be converted down.
  8. It has been just a few that have complained about the noise that has caused problems for stadiums. In motorsport, don't the grid girls wear clothing, hold umbrella's & boards with sponsors names on. This could lead to revenue being lost with no or limited air time.
  9. I know we are debating the rules for 2018, but from your statement, if C Cook has a poor GP season & is not chosen for 2019 & is only riding PL & abroad, does this mean that he will not be allowed to ride CL even if he has an old CL average. Could be interesting for further rule amendments.
  10. I am sure my eyes did not deceive me but wasn't there dancing girls on the stage at the Premier League Darts on tv last night so make your mind up. You either have them or not but for the girls, it is a paid job.
  11. Does this part mean that Scunthorpe or any other club, could have tried to sign R Douglas for 2018? Ryan did not achieve one of the main parts to apply for a visa(a 7point average) so end of! There is a lager advert about, Carlsberg with the wording "Probably the best lager in the world"
  12. Who was the other rider that was mentioned that was refused entry? A certain Ryan Douglas, who has ridden for Scunthorpe since he came over to our shores & would, if possible, been riding for the Scorpions, again, in 2018. It is, also, noted that other teams were interested in him if he was available.
  13. It is what, we, the fans, have been asking or hoping for these last 2 or 3 years. Heats 13 & 15 have hurt us badly on too many occasions.
  14. click on the 4th icon above when replying.
  15. Regarding the number of riders doubling up, at the declaration stage in 2017, there were about 28 riders doing 2 leagues. With places still to be filled, we are about 22 for 2018.
  16. I have posted, previously, about this but I stand by the decision where all teams have put their teams together using the current rules. IF they change the decision, it should apply only when team changes are available later in the season. Other teams could have chosen any available rider if the rule was still in place from 2017 & we know Lakeside were told that they could not use Nichols and/or Kennett & that is why they went for Lawson & Morris.
  17. We are still going through a transition period because of the racing format in the old EL which gave averages out of proportion to their abilities, where team leaders rode against fellow team leaders numerous times giving them a lower than normal average. Similarly, but to the other extreme, reserves rode against fellow reserves & had inflated averages, almost at team leader levels. Some riders gained from their lower than normal average enabling them to be offered a place in the CL in 2017. Limits have to be set as applied in the rule where if you have an average over 4 in the CL, you are not allowed to ride in the NL. This rule is obvious in Bewley's case but has stopped Williamson who, at the moment, is only riding in 1 league. There has been some strange rule changes this year, whether good or bad, that have been discussed on this forum. One rider over 8 in the Premiership was, in my mind, strange as I thought the intention was to bring over the better riders. Having fixed race nights should minimize the amount of guests used when riders who double up clash. This should not be evident early season but wait while later when the Premiership have rain offs & need to squeeze meetings in. The Championship have plenty of spare days as they will only be racing at home 14 - 18 times. Why was the rule dropped where teams must have at least 2 British developed riders. This has allowed more Europeans to come in on lower assessed averages meaning more British riders not getting team spots, again. The new starting procedures???????????????? We know there are going to be changes to minimize re-runs where rolling will be allowed.
  18. With the top teams, probably, being involved in extra meetings ie KOC semi's & play off's, the lower clubs could still be racing for something worth while as in the Championship Shield.
  19. Not too sure on this , but the new Wembley is used for BOTH Cup Finals & errrrrrr now the FA Cup Semi Finals. It, also, hosts the Play Off Finals.
  20. His loss of form, albeit through carrying an injury, meant you benefitted quite nicely with r/r
  21. They did with the Rathbone/Peterborough in the 4's/J Holder situation.
  22. YES! Someone has posted about what I have been saying for this last5 or 6 weeks in that once you have achieved an average in 2017, everything else is irrelevant(racing in different leagues. I also pointed out that riders with older than a 2016 average ie Musielak should have NEVER used an old average but assessed on current form. I also agree with 2nd bendbeerhut in that those riders should have reassessed averages. There have been a few issues which were not thought out thoroughly at the AGM, but Rome was not built in a day, so we now have to go with what we have got & hope that Supplementary Rules, made by the SCB, that will come along in 2018, are for the benefit of British Speedway & not individual clubs.
  23. Cradley came back into the league, beating all before them, with 1500+ crowds enabling them to pay decent wages on top of a good riders package. They cherry picked the better riders, until after 5 or 6 years just the hardcore were left, money in shortfall, ground sharing at 2 clubs while still hoping, after nearly 10 years, of having their own stadium. They milked it & lined their own pockets & are trying it on, again, for a successful return in 2019 cherry picking top riders. Mark my words, they don't like playing 2nd fiddle this past few years to Birmingham, Eastbourne, Belle Vue & probably Mildenhall this next year. I agree with others in that they should have picked from available riders or, at least, a limit on riders declared in 2018 teams.
  24. From memory, clubs apply if they wish to hold a Major Event & Peterborough did not apply for the 4's in 2018. The only Major that seems it will not move will be the Pairs at Somerset, with it being the day before Cardiff & a lot of speedway fans in the area.
