Some of these may have been posted before but what about:
1. Any rider that wins a race has weights added to his bike to slow him down for the next one. If he wins again add more weights. This would be very cheap as I saw a weight lifting kit in a shop yesterday for less than £100
2. The lowest scoring rider from each team at the end of the meeting can have a bigger engine (600cc?) at their next meetings. It won't be as cheap as #1
3. Each rider must - in one of their programmed rides - use a tyre that will only last 3 laps if ridden flat out. This will make the sport just be like Formula One. In fact it will be hard to tell the difference.
4. Any team which is behind in the match score should automatically be given the benefit of the doubt by the referee if the race has to be stopped - for example a rider falls off. The riders from the team ahead in the scoring should always be excluded even if it was not their fault. This means the scores will be closer.
5. Although (in general) the rules should be followed, the promoters as a group can decide to opt out of any rules which they think may cause a losing side to fall further behind if they cock up. For example if they are on a 5-1 and an opposing rider is lying just off the track with maybe just a leg over the white line the race should continue. If the winning team are on a 5-1 then naturally the race should be stopped. See #4 for why this is a good idea.
6. The gate picks for the GPs is the wrong way round. The rider who finishes with the most points should get last pick and the rider who qualifies with the lowest points should get first pick. This will make the semi final and final more interesting to the fans.
7. Riders in the GPs should be allowed to ride with engines that are outside of the regulations. For example by adding a turbo. Clearly this may give them an advantage but the governing body should take the wider view that it's more important to have entries than to bother with the rules. Therefore modified engines should be given waivers to allow them to compete.
8. The speedway world cup is flawed. Why do the organisers insist that each rider must ride for just one country? It means Denmark/Poland are far too strong and Team GB are far too weak. Instead each County should appoint a team manager (I think they should have a suitable licence otherwise it would be stupid) who can choose whoever he wants to represent each country. For example Team GB could be Hancock, Pedersen, Zagar and Ward. They would wear Team GB race suits so it wouldn't matter to them one iota if they beat riders representing their actual country. The Team they ride for (even if they have never set foot in it) is far more important.
9. Get rid of the joker double points thing because it's putting people off the sport.
10. The SCB should be relieved off their responsibility for the governance of the sport. It just gets in the way causing them to get involved in enquiries and investigations just because (and hypothetically) a match was run all the way up to heat 10 when in all probability it should never have started. In addition the elected independent chairman (I think he's a retired colonel or something similar) need to quieten down and stop getting involved just because a few people shout foul every now and again. Governance is not that important anyway. Seriously who needs it in a professional sport?
