Am pretty pi$$ed off as have tickets for me, the wife and daughter for Arsenal vs. Palace (and it's moved since I bought them to the Sunday AND now this late news of a KK involvement at the EoES!) so can't make it! Hopefully many Kings' fans will be there though!!
-
Happy to do so. The reference to Rye House 'Raiders' is an error on Peterborough's website/their Press Release. The team taking to the track vs. Coventry will be a Kent Kings Select.

Isle Of Wight 2014
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Jonny the spud's topic in National League Speedway
An admirable effort by Bryn to send out the press release at 4am!! I think too many folk now expect PRs to be posted here on the BSF - the best place to find PRs from clubs are on their official websites and that's right IMO. -
Could Mike Bast Have Been A Force In World Speedway?
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Wasn't THAT much difference.. Penhall scored three points; Mike Bast scored just the one! Penhall's massive improvement from that to being World Champ 4 years later was born out of riding in the UK. Bast would certainly have improved as well if he'd ever chosen that route. -
Could Mike Bast Have Been A Force In World Speedway?

Im agree Costa Mesa would certainly have favoured Bast big time. What I was pointing out was Vince's totally incorrect assertion that the whole World Final system was "highly unfair". It patently was not. -

A throwaway comment with no basis in fact! Look at the number of quality riders with multiple win and rostrum positions. Only TWO WCs in the whole post-war period about whom it could be argued that they would probably only have won in a one-off basis on the particular track staging that Final. -
Lakeside V Belle Vue 3/8/12
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Thanx EIA..!! -
Me too. Seems that Galliard the house builders apparently now own the site - if that's so that's a potentially devastating blow to the survival of the Stadium though Planning Consent for change of use does, of course, remain the key.. I certainly missed the story of that transaction with RCP selling... Or is this a misquote in the article..? Talking of quotes in this piece, interesting comments by Mr. Simpson of the Wimbledon Park Residents Association.. He's either very ill-informed or a huge optimist if he thinks AFC Wimbledon would ever attract football crowds of 20k..! Also I find his comment about the stations odd...: surely Earlsfield is nearer or at least as near as the stations he mentions & Tooting Broadway also not far, so there ARE stations aplenty to cope with people attending big sports events here. Regarding no stock cars which it's said Taggart has indeed ruled out, Ian Perkin has responded on the Wimbledon Fans Forum as follows, "Just because Stock Car Racing is not in the new proposals it would be premature to assume the door is closed to speedway. The Stock's may have other reasons for not wanting to race at a newly developed stadium in Plough Lane as currently proposed. The chances of speedway returning to Plough Lane are remote to say the least, but I am still of the view that it is only the Taggart proposals that currently offer any chance at all of a return to Plough Lane for us and that it is why we are keeping in touch with his organisation and continue to support his plans and would urge other speedway fans to do the same. A new track for speedway that did not have the problems of sharing with Stock Cars would be a huge advantage for us over the arrangements that we had in place during 2002/05, when considerable additional costs were incurred from having to lift the shale from the straights for many weeks of the season, not to mention the problems of removing and replacing the fence each week. I think if anything this bit of news makes our chances of a return slightly stronger, so lets hope the greyhound stadium re-build gets approved and see where we go then" So there remains hope...

Lakeside V Belle Vue 3/8/12
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Gosh - bet you're thinking why has someone 'bumped' this thread back into the frame?! It's because I have a question which I suspect only a Lakeside devotee there that evening could even attempt to answer! Before the EL match a rider who was staying with Justin Sedgmen (an Aussie therefore I assume...) came out for a few practice laps on Justin's bike.. Anyone know who this was by any chance..? -
2014 British Youth Championship
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Bryn's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Yes, MM, an issue of no air fence sadly... I really hope somehow I can get up to Northside this year... -
Always good to see new riders starting up in the NL and graduating from the Development leagues.
-
So would that mean TWO Guests if say Birmingham faced Lakeside on a Monday night..?
-
I thought NL would take priority.. :-( Would be a shame if Ben was missing from our side everytime Lakeside ride on a Monday. Let's hope that won't be the case.
-
Yes probably I'll agree - but I should really give it a go to see!!
-
Never been to see Stock Cars but that BBC series on Brisca F1s raised my interest so determined to catch one or two of their meetings in 2014... Probably will try Northampton or KL rather than all the way to Loomer Rd. though!!
-
Er, no-one has said Nikko shouldn't or can't comment on here! Other than himself!! He has though, in a couple of what he claims to be his closing posts, been extremely rude about me (personal abuse being banned on this Forum is a thing of the past, clearly..) and more or less claimed Kent Press Releases are full of lies. Again that was a serious breach of BSF rules and he should withdraw that comment.
-
You asked for the official statement and that's it. Of course one assumes you already knew the reason but why let THAT get in the way of making mischief.
-
The official statement from the Club relating to a matter of claimed copyright of the logo etc. is now posted on the website.
-
Well they'd be amateur racing meetings where riders actually pay to ride so I'd say there's a fundamental difference there..
-
Dan Blake has ridden over 50 CL/NL matches - mainly for the old Sittingbourne Crusaders (based at Iwade) and for Rye House but also had a spell with Plymouth where he was in their side which lost the Trophy Final to Scunthorpe in 2007. Good to see Daniel back!
-
Well, yes that's right Moggo (senior!) did last ride in 2006 but he FIRST rode (for Wimbledon) in 1981...! So a man for ALL seasons - well, 26 to be precise!!
-
Spelling it wouldn't worry me as much as having to pronounce it!!

Rumsey scored paid 8 for the Fen Tigers and 6 for the Kings 'guesting' in that Tunnel Trophy match vs. RH
