Now Tuesday... Biggest indiv. event of the NL season on Saturday afternoon and STILL no line up.. Come on, someone, somewhere must know the 16 riders due to line-up in the NLRC..?! -
Kings Lynn V Buxton - Weds 27th October
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Hmm,, so how will this double header work..? The KOC Final first, followed by the 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' outstanding league match or t'other way round..? To me if there was ever an argument for 'combining' two fixtures into one match this is it.. -
Any of you Hackney Kestrels folk out there able to give me the indiv. scorers for both teams from this Q/F of the NL KOC back on 24 June 1988..? I got there three heats into the match so though I know it ended 56-40 and that Andy Galvin retained the Silver Helmet against Daz Sumner, the full indiv. totals I never got...!!

You and Uncle Len can rest easy, there's about as much chance of me ever "cheering on Rye" as there is of that place where Satan stokes the firey furnance being hit by a snow and ice weather warning!! -
Wide definitions of 'London'...! Rayleigh's almost at Southend!!! What about the Walthamstow Wolves and Lea Bridge/Clapton..?!! And as you are as ever the font of all knowledge, pray let us know what the latest full line-up is..? For example, who's representing the club you were once PRO for (you know the club that had run from 1928 but closed down with a few weeks of you being its press guru!!)..?!

With the modern GPs and the emphasis on getting in the top eight, it's often spoken that around eight points is what you need to make it into around 8th. And history shows that benchmark usually holds up... Looking back in time at the 1982 Overseas Final at the peerless White City Stadium one can see a quite remarkable stat. FOURTH place that afternoon went to Dennis Sigalos with just EIGHT points!! Has any rider EVER scored less in ANY indiv. meeting to finish as high as 4th..?! I really can't imagine there has... And has there EVER been so concertinaed a score-card: with Sigalos 4th with 8 (tying on eight with FOUR others!) and the unlucky Chris Morton finishing 15th. on five: yes three points less, 11 places lower!!!! Anyone now of any other meeting which turned out with a pattern of scoring like this..?!

And yet the Hornets won at Bournemouth in the play off semi on Wednesday... The truth is both the Hornets AND the Buccs are pale shadows of the sides which made the play-offs (by deadline time that is, before RH fans intervene!!). What a shame that the season itself has had the heart ripped out of it by play offs held so crazily long after the deadline point and meaning that Buxton or Dudley (whoever wins what must now be back on again as a very tightly poised semi...) have the prospect of very weak opposition in what should been the showpiece event: the P/O final...

Ken B wrote: "So if we go on the Mildenhall rain off, why are IOW not in it??? and sat evening could have been done and maybe Monday? Rye also raced on Mondays, Sat at 2pm is a none good time sorry but my opinion, if yer dont like it - tough, having said that I will be there, will you after all Crayfor arent in it? not Mildenhall" Blimey, Ken are you STILL sore about this clash with the CAFC game..?!! Move on!! It's the Buccs as opposed to IoW coz Bournemouth came third in Mildenhall's group in the curtailed semis.. The Islanders were in the other group!! I shall be there and cheering on the Buccs, natch!!! -

Heavens above - less than a week to this big NL 'double-header-championship' and seemingly zero interest in the event(s) here on the BSF. Notwithstanding that many NL posters may not be able to find this thread (so pushing it back to the top of the, er, Testimonials section MIGHT help...! ), maybe an indication on the line-up for the NLRC might encourage more interest... Trouble is, I don't know WHAT the line-up is...! Does anyone..?! -

Ah yes, that explains a lot!! A mis-hearing of the announcer from all those years ago!! Many thanx! Don't suppose you've a first name for that no.8, Signore Battaglia? -
Deadline For Nl Fixtures
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in National League Speedway
Which was the point Jayne was making several times in this thread... Ironic that, as Buxton seem now certain to be faing a Newport Hornets' side in the Play-off Grand Final which has drafted in TWO riders from other teams for the P/Os. Now personally I think that the Aaron Baseby situation is okay (well, I suppose I would say that!! ): but looking at Aaron's position, he was the victim himself of a late team change at Bournemouth and is blameless for the position he found himself in, was effectively therefore 'unattached' and has ended up riding for Newport AGAINST the very side (the Buccs) he was ever-present for and skipper of all year... But the Ashley Birks situation is different and surely MUST be outside the rules... Ashley's availability is ONLY due to his 2010 NL side, Scunthorpe having finished their fixtures. His inclusion in the Newport side CAN'T be regarded as a guest as there's no such facility avaialble within the rules so it must be seen more as a 'transfer' and that's not allowed. IF he can ride in the play offs then surely this is the green light for any of the P/O sides to change their sides, cherry-picking from any of the non-P/O qualifying sides..? Something the 'deadline' is clearly designed to prevent...! If Ashley Birks' inclusion in the Newport side is within the rules then I don't think any of us understand the rules anymore...! -
Had the pleasure of seeing the Italy touring side (first from that country I believe - indeed has there been another..? ) whiuch came over to ride against some NL (2nd. division) sides in early 1980. Match I saw was at Canterbury; the one scheduled for Crayford later same week fell foul of the dodgy April weather even back then! The one to seven for Italy at Kingsmead was: Octavio Nano; Mario Andrioto; Francesco Biginato; Gianni Famari; Mauro Ferraccioll; Fausto Birbini; and Pier Mario Zanin, Can anyone remember if there was a number 8 to this squad? I think there was and that he appeared in a second half race at Canterbury (and possibly in the team at other matches that tour..) - his name would be gratefully received!!

Hmm, judging by the indiv scores and resultant match score, the decision to draft in Hughes to strenghen up was a rather ill-judged move... -

Less than a week now to the meeting at Arena Essex (Lakeside). Young Hammers will apparently include Lubos Tomicek, Shane Hazelden, Ben Morley and two riders I have to say I've not heard of previously, both French lads: Xavier Muratet & David Bellego. A shame Marc misses out through injury and ditto Jerran... What's the expected USA line-up..? This meeting is followed by the London Riders Champs - see http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=58072&pid=1807008&st=0entry1807008 for that thread. -
Been a long time waiting for this return of the LRC but sounds like it'll be worth it!! So far - according to the Lakeside site - the following riders are 'representing' London (and slightly wider than London...) tracks of old: Cameron Woodward (White City Rebels) Peter Ljung (Hackney Hawks) Stuart Robson (West Ham Hammers) Joonas Kylmakorpi (Romford Bombers) Kauko Nieminen (Lakeside) Linus Sundstrom (Rye House Rockets) Leigh Lanham (Arena Essex) Winner or runner-up 'Vultures Race' (New Cross Rangers) Winner or runner-up 'Vultures Race' (Harringay Racers) Which, by my reckoning, leaves the Wembley Lions plus the two I'm most interested in, the Wimbledon Dons and the god-like Crayford Kestrels the remaining 'teams' needing riders to wear their colours.. I understand Chris Neath's likely to be one of these riders. Can I put in a 'request' that Chris is selected for Wimbledon as his was IMHO the greatest ever performance in the CL era at Plough Lane: an immaculate maximum for Young GB and the second fastest time of that era. Chris has told me how fondly he remembers that one single appearance in SW17 and I know Dons fans hold the lad in great esteem for his performance and the many kind words he's said since about the club... For Crayford...? How about Jack Bibby who made his racing comeback at Iwade the other week...!! Of the Young Hammers/US match - this is covered on the thread in the NL section but I'm sure my travelling companion davidba will be all excited about seeing the French pairing of Xavier Muratet & David Bellego!!

Blimey, that's an impressive result from the Young Stars! Must be a pretty good chance now they can make the Final. I wonder when they'd fit in the NA leg of that Final (one has to assume vs. Buxton..) Would have - I'm guessing - to be next Friday, the 15th.?? -

So is there no chance at all then of the suggested meeting at Lydd - see following link http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=56826 With the 17th. now free I wondered if this was in any way back on as a possibility..? -
Was it that difficult..? Surely R/R for Kyle was what SHOULD have happened here. It was after all a play off semi, so sticking to the rules should really have been something of a priority... Certainly hope both James and Jay are okay - Jay's really not had a good 2010.. Can imagine that Aaron was one very happy Asbo when he won heat two... Well done on the six points mate...
