Ah ha, so SCB's not so clever after all!!!
-
Well personally I'm astonished you, SCB, of all people should be bothered with such a thing - considering you're always telling us you never complete one because you can remember all the heat results and therefore progressive score in your head!!!

Underrated Ipswich Riders From The Past
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to colinc1968's topic in Years Gone By
Surprised mo-one's mentioned Alan Sage. One of the West Ham riders who moved to Ipswich wnhen the Witches moved up to the top division - he never missed a match before moving onto Crayford in '75. -

Yes I suppose Sidecars could've been in there too but it is a Quads event in the main and I think the move towards these Quad Speedway meetings in the past couple of years has been a really positive thing - so they deserve to take centre stage! The Midget Cars I've never seen and would love; to but in truth does anyone own any let alone race them here in the UK? The Speedway demo races see two of my all-time favourite riders in Eddie Kennett & Stevie Boxall take to track along with Kent Kings' Ben Morley and newbies, Brandon Freemantle & Dan Blake - so that's good. Last Speedway at the famous track before a new era with the installation of the air fence.

????? Always amazes me tbh, how you have virtually no interest in anything. You don't complete a programme and think everyone who does is wasting their time. Now your latest is that you don't care about tracks records because, er, there's a time keeper..? Not sure I get this, would you rather count in your head to work out the race time..?! I sometimes wonder if you actually like Speedway at all!!
-
It is interesting and unusual for Greyhound racing types to protest the closure or proposed closure of their track. When Catford went there were no protests - the shocking way in which the sport was ended there with no notice was really appalling but not a wimper from the owners/trainers/punters as far as I can recall. Now we hear that the sport's about to close again with very little notice at Brandon. Wonder if they'll be protests from the Dog Racing fraternity up in Cov?

Steve Boxall also set a new NL track record at Rye House (in the NLRC) last year! And NB. his track record at Mildenhall is an all-time record not just an NL/CL one!!
-
Robert Branford's been seeded into the U-21 Final (as one would expect as the holder..) so seems it's expected he's going to be back in the UK...

The big difference with Speedway these days at this kind of level is the requirement to have only seven 'declared riders'. Back in the day they'd be effectively a 'squad' of riders and with active second halves a rider not in the team right now could ride second halves and then get his chance if injury happened and/or if he showed good form (like say, beating the incumbent reserve) in second half racing. Of course difficult for us at Central Park to fit in second half races but we did manage a few times last year. As Mimmo says, my guess would be both Adam and Sam may end up getting a chance in the Scunthorpe Stags side..?

No both those fixtures are 'Challenge' matches

Leicester Join The National Trophy
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Islander15's topic in National League Speedway
I'm sure they will do that. There used to be this sort of thing before, when the Conference Trophy contained a number of different teams to the Conference League - it worked fine then. The prospect of a different visiting team and a different track to visit is very good news for the stand-alone clubs also competing in the NT. And as it happens, yes I do think a different name than Leicester Lions should be used! Am sure they'll be a different nickname at least - will be interesting to see what gets the nod. Previous nicknames used have been Hunters (not very PC that these days!) and, a long way back, Hounds.. -
Leicester Join The National Trophy
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Islander15's topic in National League Speedway
I actually do wonder if some people who post on the BSF actually LIKE the sport of Speedway at all... For some, and iris123 is a classic example, it seems just about them sniping as much as possible and trying (though failing badly, certainly in his case..) to be funny, while denegrating all the efforts of people & clubs actually trying to improve the sport. If - as is the case with iris123 - you hold the whole of the third tier in such contempt, maybe you would do better to steer clear of this section of the BSF? -
Yes, the facades of both the East & West Stands of the former Arsenal Stadium remain intact. I go past here every working day and it doesn't lessen the pain of losing the ground I loved so much to see those remnants remaining... Naming roads after memories from the demolished stadium has happened in West Ham before - with the streets on the site of the former Speedway stadium in Custom House including Hoskins Close, Croombs Road, Young Road, Wilkinson Road and Atkinson Road. Again doesn't really lessen the pain or reduce in any way the loss.

Riders To Watch In 2014
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to HBKPCNBob's topic in National League Speedway
Good stuff 21CH. My pick from the Storm though would be the other Greenwood: Oliver. He is a rider of great potential and I reckon 2014 will be the year he breaks through in a big way... -
King's Lynn Young Stars 2014?
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to DIAMONDS's topic in National League Speedway
Well, yep, one is Jack - born at King George's Hospital in Ilford when the family lived in Barking - yes, these are in London boroughs before anyone cries, 'Essex' at me!! And the other isn't Daniel, it's Ryan Terry-Daly - who though raised in NZ was born in Hammersmith! Young Ryan told me last year that the first part of his double-barrelled surname signifies he's related to - funny enuff - someone else from Barking; a sportsman who's made his name not too far from Hammersmith, in Chelsea to be precise! Not sure if he was winding me up on that family link to former England football captain, John Terry..?! -

The return of former Tottenham Hotspur school-boy footballer Master Cockle brings the total of London-born riders in the 2014 NL to three. Come on folks, it's still the 'silly season', how quickly can someone name me the other two!! -
