And I can't really think that 28 day bans apply considering, er, the season has finished!!! -

Good Lord - such generosity of spirit...: NOT. Would you have been happier if poor Newport had had to ride with just three riders!!! -

Sore loser in what sense? I have no connection whatsoever or allegiance to Dudley or Newport..!! You'd best read again. The people who are so angry and upset at the farce that has been the end of this particular third tier season (probably as a result of this, the last as a meaningful division) are those of us who have actually devoted time and energy over the years to this particular form of Speedway. Of course the Moss family are way ahead of us in that respect and a massive well down to them and all others at Buxton for their achievement. BUT none of that hides the clear fact that over the Fours, the Play Offs and the Riders Championship this has been a massive cock-up... If you can't see that from your position over in Oz fair enuff, but trust me it has been; and to bury ones head in the sand and say, oh actually all is well is going to do no-one and least of all the sport any good... -

Hmm, and it's a shame you can't apologise for your totally nonsensical slur against Newport claiming that, er, it didn't rain in South Wales on Friday and somehow by calling the first leg off the Hornets hoped to gain some, er, advantage... -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
Hmm, could be. But of course they didn't in the end need to be the best team "over the course of the whole season" did they..?! After all, the best measure of that is a league table: one which actually shows Dudley first and the Hornets second and Buxton, but third... Today all that was needed was to win ONE match - and in fact one would probably have backed literally any side in the 2010 NL to have beaten the fatally weakened Newport line-up which took to track today, in a one-off tie with home advantage... Yes they'll be the argument that the "rules" were set before the season began. But the "rules" should also have insisted not just on a mid-September cut-off for the play off qualification but also an end of September deadline to complete the semis and dates in the first week of October for the Final. Because they didn't this has ended up the most unsatisfactory end to a season ever in the third tier and I fear we'll all end up paying for that... -
Newport V Buxton - Nl Playoff 29/10
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to chris1's topic in National League Speedway
Interesting. So the disgraceful decision to cancel the NLRC previously not only meant the Fours never happened but also make a mockery of the Play Off Final... As I've said before, Rye House must NEVER be allowed to stage a third tier 'shared event' again... That's assuming there are such things in the future... -

BTW, though you constantly refuse to accept this, the PL (a much bigger league than the NL) does NOT decide its League Champions by means of a play off.... -
Buxton V Newport 31/10 - Sunday Start Time
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
Why..? If you want to "ignore" the fiasco that's been the end of this year's NL campaign you clearly have no interest in or commitment to this level of Speedway. Something which CAN'T be said of the likes of BobC. Lucifer Sam and myself and others who've posted our dispair at what's happened on here... -

Buxton V Newport 31/10 - Sunday Start Time
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
Agreed - but of course that WASN'T the battle for the league was it..? It was a battle in which the team which came third are now able to claim the championship today with a one off home match against a Newport side completely stripped of its riding resources - not least because of how late in the year this final is happening... The season WOULD have gone done as a classic if that three way battle was for the title but now it will be remembered as an utter farce. Now is there anyone, anyone at all (you for example, Proud Potter!!) who still wants to argue in favour of the play-off 'system' (sic) in the NL...? -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
"Whoever"..?? Define "whoever"..? Surely you're not suggesting there's any doubt who's going to win today. Though it might yet be that 'team' beginning with 'W'... The weather!!!! Talking about definitions, try looking up this one, "Pyrrhic victory"... Because I fear for a stand-alone club like the Hitmen, to have seen what's happened to the NL in the past couple of months may well (rain permitting) mean they've won the League & Cup Double in 2010 but the chances of there being either competition to defend (outside of a three team tournament!) in 2011 are ATM, looking extremely slim... -

Come off it! ONLY a Buxton fan could fail to understand why everyone else who cares about the NL has every reason to be "moaning" about the appalling - almost certainly terminal to the future of the third tier as a meaninful competition in the immediate future - circumstances of the last month... -

My sentiments exactly Roberto!! Funny how often we agree on things these days!!!! Like davidba am hoping that the 12/11 meeting is on at Oxford, in which case - as certainly no "points of principle" apply to that one!! - look forward to seeing you there...!! -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
Well once they'd set a date as late as this last Friday for the first leg and with the NLRC (disgracefully...) arranged for the Saturday in-between and of course the 'second leg' today, here really WASN'T any rain-off date they could have... -

Can't see how anyone COULD argue that the second leg must go to 12 heats to count. The first leg didn't even get to one heat and apparently that DOES count!!! -

Buxton V Newport 31/10 - Sunday Start Time
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
Well THAT as a concept makes no sense. If it's rained off then the ONLY conclusion - based entirely on what you've argued - is that there is NO League champion for 2010. Which would be the entire fault, frankly, of all four clubs which made the play offs and knew they were in them from 12 September but made little to no effort to get the semis started as a process until over a whole month later... This was utterly avoidable and yet this is where we are now... IF the 'second leg' (sic) goes ahead, it'll result in a title win for Buxton which I'd say can be said to be deserved based on their two-legged win over Dudley who finished top of the division. By the time these play offs came Newport had no sort of a side so really were a spent force. Someone remind me again why the P/Os in the NL are a good idea..?! -

Hmm, but on the other hand Mark & Danny know what a 'jinx' I am...! They've far more chance of getting on that rostrum if I'm NOT there to see them!! Good luck to both lads. BTw, what happened to my original tip Simon Lambert...?! See comment about jinxing above!! -

Youy're kidding aren't you...? Actually release any details about this meeting..? That would suggest it was being taken seriously and that's long since been shown as not happening! Does anyone still believe this is likely to go ahead tonight...? I'm certainly not going to bother to find out.. -

Been asking for some results and scorers lately and as ever getting a superb response from Forumites! Have I this time though, bitten off more than I can chew!? What I'm after are the result and scorers details from a second half junior challenge between the Junior Hammers and a side branded Crayford Select at Arena Essex on 27th. April 2001. I was there for what was I'nm sure the last to date appearance on track by a side branded Crayford but my kids pestered me to leave after three of the scheduled eight heats. 'Twas 11-7 to the Hammers at that point. Hammers side was Gareth Roberts, Tommy Cooper, Matt Etherington and Simon Taylor Crayford Select was later to be Sittingbourne Crusaders, Andre Cross and Carl Downs; Kentish grasstrack legend, the late, great Vince Kinchin; and Jon Stevens (yes, folks that's as in "ex-Wimbledon Dons' Jon Stevens"!) Match details in the form of result and scorers would leave me mightily impressed and very grateful!!

It can't really go ahead on Sunday surely...: that would clash with the Play Off Final... The decision to cancel this previously has backfired massively... Why, oh why, oh why wasn't it held when it should and could have been. BTW, it will only take rain tomorrow in Norfolk tomorrow and rain in Buxton on Sunday to see both the KOC and League title undecided in the NL this year... Again one has to ask how did those supposedly in charge manage to get us to this state of affairs..
