Happy New Year, Jules! D. xxx PS save your money on Jeff's next book. Just rip up the pages out the last two, scatter them on the floor and rearrange slighty and, hey presto, his next book!!

God, Bryn...: if you EVER said anything of any interest that didn't just toe the line of the sport's authorities and/or the Mods, how would YOU like it if your posts were censored or deleted for no reason..? You should win the Nobel Prize for Inanity!!
-
Indeed true - though even more boring!!! BTW, my comment about the cost of the tickets remains more or less the only surviving part of my posting in the Football thread. Free speech (practised nobly by Mr. Scott in his books...!!) is a much rarer commodity here on the BSF!
-
No, I have read THREE of his books : the first three. How many is he up to now..? Five or is it six all on the same (non-) subject..? And how many people has he upset, offended, broken up their relationships...? Not quite as many as he's bored to death!!
-
Hmm, once you've read one of Mr. Scott's books you've read them all - as he simply repeats himself and/or writes about the fact he wrote and has sold (a few copies of!) the previous one... No wonder he has to self-publish..

Quite a few "word choice errors" in your canon of works, Jeff...: several hundred thousand, IMHO..

Sorry STILL have no idea (and neither does anyone else involved in the NL...) why whether or not (and surely it'll be not... ) two clubs drop out of the Elite has got to do with sorting out clubs entering and the rules of the 2011 NL. Simply repeating that there are 'problems' in the top tier does nothing to justify keeping calling off the meeting to sort things out in the third division.. As I said, three tracks (at least) may well stand or fall in terms of continuing or starting to stage the sport in this country on how soon the NL gets sorted for this year, so delay is not only senseless it's potentially VERY damaging too...
-
Excellent idea! I suggested a couple of years back that Under 16s would be a better concept than Under 15s as this would fit in better with riders making the transition from junior to NL (previously CL) racing, so glad to see it happening now. Will this be a series with a winner on aggregate terms (as the U-15s has been) or will it culminate in a one-off Final..? The press release about Stoke staging a 'Final' suggests the latter..

Why No Second British Gp?
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to BARNES's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Of course you're right that London should be the setting for a second British Gp - but am surprised you say Wembley's "not possible".. It very much IS possible - indeed if the money was put forward to stage there I have no one tiny shadow of doubt the authorities at Wembley would snap the hand off anyone wanting to stage such event under the arch! Equally, the new Olympic Stadium would be a total go-er for a big Speedway meeting...: what about finishing the 2012 GP series with the 'Olympic GP' in London E15!!! Also in London, I had plenty of time while Joe Hart took an age over taking goal kicks on Wednesday ( ) to gaze around the Emirates; and you know what, putting a temporary track there for a summer-staged London GP would be an excellent prospect... :approve: Hampden meanwhile is a tantalising prospect. Of course IF there were GPs in each GB capital as such a 'model' suggests, then it would HAVE to be the English GP, the Welsh GP and the Scottish GP.. Wouldn't worry about crowds: Wembley (or alternative) and Hampden would be sell-outs. Maybe Cardiff would reduce in crowd size a little but that CAN'T be used as an excuse to strangle at birth these progressive ideas... -
You're top notch at being rude and pompous but you've yet to attempt to explain exactly WHY, in your esteemed opinion, the NL meeting has had to be delayed due to the EL situation... I've spoken to an NL chairman today and I can tell you he agrees with 99% of posters on here that there is not a single understandable reason why this is happening...
-
If it was merely the fixture list I'd agree with you but it isn't. There are at least three stand-alone clubs awaiting on the NL conference to determine if they are going to run next year. With all due respect to Peterborough & Coventry any concerns they have, they've basically brought upon themselves (walking out over assessed averages is frankly ridiculous and shows a complete lack of connection with reality..); and the ONLY link I can possibly see with their two situations and the NL is that maybe(and a VERY slight possibility this is, IMHO...) one or, even less likely, both of these tracks (Cov and P'boro that is..) might decide to enter the NL. Well frankly IF they do, then I'm 100% certain that no-one will have any problem with them doing so later on.. So I'll say it again, people can go on about the EL situation and problems as much as they like but I cannot see ONE reason why this is holding up the NL meeting. What I do also know is that if the NL meeting were to keep getting put back (and we've yet actually to have it confirmed that is btw..!) then there would be a very high danger of losing three tracks which intend or hope to compete in the 2011 season in the NL...
-
Sorry but I am utterly at a loss why the problems apparently affecting the Elite League have ANY connection with having this NL Chairmans' meeting and deciding on the composition of the third tier for 2011... As has been said the harm potentially being done to plans of - especially - the stand-alone NL clubs is not something I'd have thought anyone would want to see piled on top of the obvious problems affecting the upper tier too...
-
Well, we're into the first working week of the New Year now... Have heard variously that the delayed NL AGM is either later this week or early next...: can anyone please confirm..?
-
Bryn in 'not going to criticise the rules or anyone in authority' shock, horror, probe..! Might be a new year but some things never change!!!
-
And on availability Malc...: they always seem to have run out of the supposedly legendary fish and chips at Rye when I go there...! And you're spot on about the culinary fare on offer at Plough Lane. It was neither "fast" nor "food" and the GRA staff tried as hard as they could (as did the bar staff) to diddle customers out of their rightful change... And then they had the cheek (the GRA that is) to accuse us Speedway folk of not drinking enuff beer or eating enuff burgers!!!! Hope you had a good Xmas m8; did Santa bring you a new baseball cap..?!

This on the BSPA site: STOKE have been allocated two meetings next season which will showcase the sport's talented British youngsters. The Loomer Road venue will stage one of the British Under-21 semi-finals, and they will also be the host circuit for the British Junior Championship Final Slightly confusing terminology... : by 'Junior' Championship do they indeed mean the Under 21 final..?

Weren't Second Halves Wonderful
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Years Gone By
Well I get into my car and terrorise the neighbouring streets....!!! -
Have I missed something but what exactly was the reason the BSPA needed to meet again meaning this week's NL meeting was put back a month..? And - again maybe it's just me - but wasn't that meeting over 24 hours ago now and yet nothing appears to have been announced as to whatever they were meeting about, what's been (further) decided etc.
