  1. Important news about the AJL match at Lakeside on Friday (3 August): Young Hammers vs. Ipswich Junior Witches! It's back to being BEFORE the main Elite League action. We'll be VERY PROMPTLY underway at 7pm, so please be there in good time for the Junior League racing! Team details to follow later in the week...
  2. Seems there will be no play offs in the AJL which I think is the right thing personally (I'm no fan of play offs deciding a league title) . The Ipo vs. Tiger Cubs derby match didn't happen last night as it happens...
  3. I believe it's Ipswich vs. Mildenhall in the AJDL this evening. An important fixture in terms of the race for the play off final. And will be an interesting one to see the two team line-ups... Anyone ot there have any details..?
  4. Yes Adam is riding on Sunday - fresh from riding for the Islanders (as you say), for the Young Hammers in the AJL and second halfing at Somerset..
  5. I did but years of you beating me up has left me a mere shadow of the man I used to be!!!
  6. Venue is West Ham Labour Party HQ in Stratford btw. Why not combine this with an evening trip out to see the modern day Hammers vs. Eastbourne in both EL and then AJL action..!?
  7. Hmm, well spotted! As many will know, if there's even the slightest chance of me getting something wrong like this I'll take it!! Though in my (flimsy) defence, - and I won't name and shame! - a distinguished fellow member of the BSF led me down this blind alley on this occasion!! Have to say, btw, that Oliver looks to be as outstanding prospect and is a really nice guy too..! PS am sure namesake Daniel is as well..!! PPS shame there's not a third young rider with this surname, then one could put together a mini team and call it 'Under The Greenwood Three'...
  8. He got onto the track - back straight but engine packed up so never approached the tapes. To me that's a bona fide NS. Next time he was under power until the bend before the tapes but the bike cut out then and couldn't restart in time to avoid a 2 mins exclusion. The other Adam (our one, Adam Ellis) shed a chain when leading heat 2. He still managed to get home for second. The chain managed to damage his clutch and so he had to withdraw from what should've been his second ride: so that's an NS too.
  9. 17th August 2012 2pm – A talk by Robert Rogers about West Ham Speedway, a passion for many residents of the borough. Robert will be talking about his love of the Speedway, as well as showing off his old photographs and memorabilia. http://www.hidden-histories.org.uk/wordpress/?page_id=2283
  10. Result from tonite at the EoES Peterborough Thundercats 6 (Adam Portwood 2; Simon Pearce 3; Adam Kirby 0; Ben Holloway 1) Lakeside Young Hammers 17 (Mark Baldock 6[M]; Martin Pearce 3+1; Jack Kingston 6[M]; Adam Ellis 2+1[PM]) (AJL) (four heats only due to curfew - RESULT STANDS) Heat 1) Baldock; M. Pearce; Kirby Exc 2M; Ellis NS 67.5 [6-17] Well done to ALL the riders for getting four heats done in the ten minutes we had available to us for the AJL match. Ten mins as opposed to the TWO HOURS the EL lads had for their 15 heats.. No, I don't undestand how that happened either...?!
  11. Result of the 'Capital Challenge' at Rye House this evening (Saturday 21/7): Pocket Rockets 16 (Danny Verge 4; Oliver Greenwood 9 [M]; Bradley Tokley 3; Joe Exley 0) Young Hammers 20 (Adam Ellis 7; Adam Sheppard 2+1; Mark Baldock 10+1; Ollie Weldrick 0 (withdrawn injured)) Heat 1) Greenwood; Ellis; Verge; Sheppard (f.rem) 4-2 Heat 2) [rerun] Baldock; Tokley; Weldrick inj. One-time RH Cobra Ollie Greenwood continued his comeback from injuury, like he had been at Sheffield in the MDL on Thursday, the 2007 GB U-15s national champ was unbeaten. A team debut in the UK for French-based rider Adam Ellis capped off by partnering Mark Baldock to the 5-1 in heat 6 to win the 'Capital Challenge'. Adam Sheppard contributed vital placings to help secure the Lakeside win. And Ollie Weldrick so unlucky as he couldn't avoid the fallen Exley in front of him in heat 2 and aggravated his collarbone injury leading to having to withdraw from the meeting Help with times for heats 1 to 4 plus the middle of the three U-15 races would be appreciated!
  12. Spot on mate - 'twas indeed the Forbesmeister I was after!!!! Well done - STILL no catching you out!!!
  13. Corrections. Turns out that young Ryan's full name (and how he does like to be known) is Ryan Terry-Daley. Also have added in the previously missing race times for heats 4 & 6.
  14. No - and to be honest not sure if he ever did notch up any official appearances..? I think maybe once with Plymouth maybe but I know him from his own appearances (in second halves) at Wimbledon...
  15. Simon is a twice Pairs winner at this level isn't he..? A third win would set a new record. Charles Wright..? Well yes, it may only be his second outing back as a Hitman but he does have considerable 'history' with the Buxton club.
  16. Ah yes, well funny enough that IS correct but actually I was thinking of someone else!! A rider who really IS a big favourite of mine... Though to be fair, not a rider with anything like as distinguished record as Master Cockle. Your next challenge..: name this OTHER rider!!
  17. Well let's be honest, Barrie would know!! Upper Edmonton is EVEN better...!!! Now here's a London-related questioin for you... Which other relatively recently 'active' Speedway rider was also born in Edmonton (Upper or otherwise).?! You'll know Mimmo, coz you're the king of the date & places of birth!!
  18. With news that Ryan Daley (the more recently NZ-based debutant for the Tiger Cubs) having been born in Hammeresmith, it means that no fewer than FOUR of the riders in action in his match were born in London Boroughs... Daley in Hamersmith & Fulham; Jack Kingston in Barking & Dagenham; and the Pearce bros in Waltham Forest. Wonder when was the last time FOUR Londoners appeared in the same match!!
  19. Teams for Saturday's Capital Challenge at Rye House: NB. in alpha NOT riding order Pocket Rockets: Joe Exley; Jake Hallett; Bradley Tokley; Danno Verge Young Hammers: Mark Baldock; Adam Ellis; Jack Kingston; Adam Sheppard
