  1. According to the fixtures, the match at the Norfolk Arena on the following day (ie Weds 11th.) is actually not the return leg of the KOC semi but is in fact the League match. The second leg of the semi of the KOC is at Saddlebow the FOLLOWING Weds.: the 18th. Although I suppose this may have changed..?
  2. Yes that's both odd and a big shame. It's said he has prior commitments on the date of our U-19s. Not a weekend on the continent though, as he IS included in the line up the very next evening at RH for the NLRC. Which is great news that he's riding in the strongest ever NLRC line up. Well, I do hope he'll be at Rye because there's a nagging doubt because of his non-availability the night before - would be nice to get definite confirmation of that...
  3. Bob Dugard is Kelsey's grand-father not his uncle. The IoW are the Islanders NOT the Crusaders!
  4. There has been motor sport in the OGs before. Car racing in 1904; power boating in 1908. Speedway is certainly the most human skill based of motor sports so let's go for it!!
  5. I suspect this is because you're walking the long way using the route vehicles have to take. If you cut up Dolphin Rd. and then left down past the houses, sports ground and working man's club on Church Road (this way's blocked off to traffic) you cut a very significant amount off the walk. Got your generations wrong - and considering you're the Wimbledon history expert am surprised! Charlie Dugard is Kelsey's GREAT-grandfather and Bob his grand-father. Considering that Schrammy and Chris Mills are the ONLY two Dons riders from 2002-'05 currently riding league Speedway, there did have to be some other 'connections' drawn - and being a fourth generation Don and in RTD's case the son of a Plough Lane track raker seem pretty good connections from where I'm standing. No, it's meant to be about showing that Wimbledon can still be a club which if it returned to Plough Lane would have support. Which of course we know it would. It's NOT a reunion..
  6. I thought Paul was superb. A loss to the sport if our 'H' Man not still presenting
  7. The issue re 'noise'. There is no 'noise'. There is a sound level within agreed times which was scientifically arrived at , at the Planning Cttee. We are have always kept within both time and sound levels. There is therefore not the slightest mileage in the complaints being made by a tiny handful of neighbours.
  8. A difference this week though is that no 'guest' facility available for Hopwood - so R/R was really the only option..
  9. Getting back to London by train (if indeed that's the direction you want..) is extremely easy - the advantage of the early finish! The track's about a 15 minute walk from the station - usually not difficult to find a friendly person to give you a lift back to the railway station!
  10. I've no idea how anyone can say there's no music played between heats!! There most certainly has been from day one.. I can only think you're baseing your comment on the Stoke match a fortnight ago when I got stuck in traffic, Dave Jessup had to step in to announce and on that mereting only there was no music..
  11. The one thing I'd say about the list of riders is that it includes Robert Branford who is out injured and - as I understand it - not expected to be fit again this season. So I hope that's the only correction needed... Am wondering in particular re. Robert Lambert who tops the NL averages and so is a very important rider to be in the field. Robert has already withdrawn from the Under 19s at Coventry which is just the evening before this, saying has prior commitments so I do wonder if he will be at RH on the 21st..? I think all fans of the NL deserve to know ASAP if the 16 named are going to be the riders on the night (injuries & mishaps between then & now permitted).. And I'm not just saying that coz I'm writing the profiles in the prog!!
  12. No 'clutching' by me - this is exactly what Jayne and co have just said...
  13. Right, well that actually wasn't the answer received before. This one I understand... So they COULD guest in the PL but not as a '3 point' reserve.
  14. Hmm, so I ask again - what does the NEG denote next to Charles Wright's name in the Green Sheets then? Alongside Steve Boxall's name it means he's NOT allowed to ride in the PL whilst remaining riding for an NL club but apparently it means something different for Charles..?
  15. But they can ride FULL-TIME (ie as a full member of a side) in the PL..? Even by our sport's strange standards that is utterly nonsensical.. You tell me if Steve Boxall would be allowed to ride in a PL side and still ride for Kent..? I can tell you 100% he wouldn't be..! What's the ruling then that allows Charles Wright to do so..?!
  16. What does the NEG alongside Charles' name in the NL 'Green Sheets' mean then? it appears to mean according to the 'key', Not eligible to Guest due to a 4.00 or above PL average. Several riders have this alongside their name and (though the wording is bordering on nonsensical) I took it to mean such riders couldn't double-up into the PL whilst staying in the NL. Obviously according to Jayne it doesn't mean that so what on earth DOES it denote..?!
  17. And let me buy you a beer Bryn too on Monday for stepping into the breach on the Bank Holiday!!
  18. No - it was Bryn To be fair he only said it a couple of times - he was corrected early on by the rest of us hollering at him!!
  19. I'm not surprised you said that location because that does appear (that lower range of seating below the 'ledge') to be the problem part sound-wise. There are plenty of other areas where the sound is fine - including I was pleasantly pleased to find, the stand away on the first and second bends. I agree it needs looking into but my advice for the remaining meetings is it's beter to sit higher up (above the ledge) in the main grandstand. Better viewing from there too...
  20. Thanks for the kind and helpful words 'greyhoundp'. As a matter of interest which part of the stadium were you and having a problem with hearing the speakers..? It's been sorted in most parts now and I went around checking on Monday.. Yes you're right about Roger - he's the grand-son of the legendary WJ Cearns who built the first track in the UK at High Beech 85 years ago and also in that same year, Wimbledon Stadium. We remember this in the Laurels for the WJ Cearns Memorial Trophy staged earlier this year and in less than two weeks take on a 'Wimbledon' side in the John Cearns Cup. John was Roger's father and was a Director & Stadium Manager at Plough Lane for 60 years.
  21. Hmm, not sure where the 'confrontational' accusation comes from... You made, gustix, specific reference to there possibly being an 'change to the programme' announced and I was merely pointing out that such an implied criticism in a sport like ours where riders often compete every night/day and where injuries can occur is patently ridiculous ... Seems you agree - so the question is then, why be so 'confrontational' in making the 'programme change' comment in the first place..?!
  22. Er, when exactly do you think programmes are printed..? 10 minutes before the start of the meeting...?!
