Rye House V Berwick Pct 2nd Leg) 28th October 6pm
BossMan replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
To be honest I only went tonight because it was the last meeting of the season. Well done to Rye for making the most of a horrid track with some of the slowest times of the year? Craig did his best to convince fans that the racing was good rather than the passing being down to rider errors. How on earth Bellego was excluded in heat 3 I will never know!!!!!! I personally thought the crowd was rather poor compared to earlier in the season and most of the fans I spoke to were peed off about the way the season had gone but I best not say much or else I will end up in the local paper. Unless things change dramatically next year then Rye will become a rare track I visit as opposed to the main track. Once again, well done to Rye on winning a trophy that hardly anybody cares about. -

You can always have a look at this Shads http://www.pcc.org.u...ice_2012_A4.pdf It’s a link to the press complaints commission on code of practice for newspaper editors. Think you will find you ARE entitled to a reply? I have been visiting Rye since 2005 and in 2012 attended far less meetings than any other year, there are too many reasons to go on about but at some point most of them have been mentioned on here before. Unless things change dramatically in 2013 (starting with an apology from Len for what he said to customers over the Doyle debacle would be good) then I will be spending most of my time at other tracks. As regards this meeting – This Sunday has some great live sport all afternoon and evening but I will attend the speedway if it’s dry and not freezing cold. Good luck to both teams and I hope all riders stay safe. -

Hmmm! lots of interest in this thread - NOT! I may go to this one but the forecast is for heavy rain @ 4pm? Please can anyone living nearby keep us updated with the weather - thanks -
Only just realised that this meeting was on and part of a double header. Does anyone have team news or is nobody bothered as Rye are not part of the "Play-Offs"

Rye House V Plymouth (pl)... 18th August @ 7pm
BossMan replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was a great meeting and man of the match was Ben Barker – not a big fan of his but he was Mr Entertainment in this meeting. As far as Kasper goes he has talent but in 3 heats he clearly took the front wheel away of visiting riders whilst trying to barge his way through – if Gathercole had gone down then Kasper would have been disqualified. He tried the same move on Barker who wasn’t having it and proved to be stronger. A good result for Rye but could have been very different if Plymouth had some decent reserves. -

BossMan replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
On the PL thread it says chucking it down at 8am today? If the weather forecast is correct I don't think you will need one -
Waco mate I’m with you – how many times do we have to say we are not anti young riders or the NL (which is supposed to be a third division and not a training league) but the facts are that unless a team is competitive the supporters will not show up. No supporters mean the end of that club and slowly the end of the NL. I personally feel Len has made a big mistake and will lose some of the support he had for the stand alone NL meetings; my friends are already making alternative plans for those nights. I know the business needs to make a profit but supplying an inferior product is not the answer.
-
It’s been a long time Parsloes old man since you picked on one of my posts? Shall we go with the usual debate on exactly how much MONEY you have spent on supporting speedway over just the last 3 years? – Or even the amount of meetings you have just attended over the last 3 years? The house must be Clean and sparkling with all the decorating you have been doing. It’s almost amusing that you spend so much time away from speedway and yet you think you have all the answers. I want to see competitive speedway full stop. Len charges more than any other NL team for a stand alone meeting and will now put out an inferior product, how will that keep the supporters happy? I can see this year being the last time we see a second team at Rye and it will be Len’s own fault if it’s not a success. How will my not attending help….. Simple it allows me to attend another meeting at a different venue, and if I have a good time who knows how often I will attend there instead of Rye? Spot on Waco - hope young Ben has a great year
-
The facts are that the NL is the 3rd division of speedway and is NOT a training league purely for the other 2 divisions. For me having 3 riders in the team that Shadders would refer to as “wobblers” means I will not attend stand alone meetings until I’ve witnessed a few double headers. If and only if, the team are competitive then I will support them – at the end of the day it’s my money and I want to see good racing, not riders half a lap behind and falling off. We are all aware however, of the financial benefits of having 3 juniors in the team? For riders starting the sport we have the junior league.

Rye House on 14th
-
There was a time when I went to every home match regardless of it being PL or NL - not bad for a non-Rye supporter. Unfortunately Len no longer gives value for money and last year I missed quite a few meetings at Rye - it's not a bad top 5 but if the team is let down by the reserves then I will pick and choose the meetings I attend. I don't go for all this rubbish about blooding the youngsters / it's for the future of the Rockets etc I'm a Professional sportsman myself and the youngsters in my game work hard and make it impossible to leave them out of a team, and yes it does cost them money? I do like the NL and it can be better than the other leagues but the team I watch needs to be competitive. All just IMHO of course
-
Is that the official statement from Len? If that is the case then the entrance price should reflect that and be half of what it currently is
-
Have to agree with Shadders here - It has to be a competitive team to keep the interest up and the normal 6 training heats afterwards. Perhaps make it a little knock out 6 heats with the winner getting the No.7 berth the following week?
