-
So he didn't have time before to list a few names then or 5 mins to send an email from France?

Hi Derek, Before I start I just wondered, has there ever been a time where you criticised a promoter of speedway? I was going to stay out of this as I’m rapidly loosing interest in Speedway but ………… Len Silver “HAS” been a great promoter; he still “IS” a good man who loves his speedway however everyone has to start moving with the times or their business will fold pretty quickly! Len’s archaic way of promoting died several, and I mean lots of, years ago and I was there when he basically told the Rye supporters “If you don’t like it don’t come” and that’s exactly what they did! So his stubbornness has actually cost speedway some supporters who now don’t go anymore? I know this because some were friends of mine who no longer visit any speedway, not just Rye. If Len was running a golf club then every golfer would be wearing shirt, ties and tweed jackets along with socks tucked into their trousers and donning a flat cap – can you imagine the youth of today doing that? Last year saw me attend the fewest amounts of meetings than ever before and although I only got to the opening meeting at Kent I thought they were on the right track in promoting, it’s a shame that those involved at the start at Kent have now, for whatever reasons, been removed from the club. Congratulations to those involved at the start of KK they did at least try to involve the younger generation in a sport that is dying on its feet. I really hope Kent succeeds but to do that then a lot of things have to change imho. If they do manage to re-negotiate that start time then I may wonder along just to keep my interest in speedway going as I doubt very much I will go to Rye with their 60’s style of doing things. That’s my rant – Happy New Year everyone!

The Rye Website hints at a Raiders team return to the NL in 2014 - Where would that leave the kings promotion?

Once again not much interest in a Rye fixture? Does anyone know the line up of riders or indeed if this fixture will go ahead?

Can't see a thread for this one and it's tomorrow!!!! I'm assuming the teams to be something like Saturdays abandoned meeting: Rye House: 1. Oliver Allen, 2. Pontus Aspgren, 3. Jason Bunyan (captain), 4. Tyson Nelson, 5. Anders Mellgren, 6. Kasper Lykke, Jason Garrity (if fit) / NL Rider?. Berwick: 1. Sebastian Alden, 2. Liam Carr, 3. Robin Aspegren, 4. Matty Wethers, 5. Kozza Smith (captain), 6. Nicki Barrett, 7. Paul Starke. Does anyone know if the normal entrance fee applies with the addition of the 125cc final following the main meeting?

Rye House V Leicester Saturday 10.08.13
BossMan replied to barrow boy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not the greatest of meetings and really not sure why Leicester allowed Alex E to take 3 rides? It was obvious to everyone that he was struggling with his recent injuries and never did more than half a lap. Heat 11 was interesting; Mellgren falls on his own, Leicester are on a 8-1 with the tactical ride, the old boy on the 4th bend decides to show a red flag to Gravesen who slows and puts his hand up, Aspgren then overtakes him for 2nd place and the ref does nowt about it? With the close score at the end that alone could have made a big difference. Nice to see that after Shadders complaints, the hole in the car park has been filled in. -
Rye House V Edinburgh 13/7/13
BossMan replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good meeting spoilt by an over zealous referee and the time it took. Heat 15 was farcical and I wasn’t even aware that 2 riders could go off 15 meters. There was 25 minutes from the end of heat 14 to the end of heat 15? After the recent incidents at Rye they managed to race 14 heats in 1hour 10 minutes, last night it took 2 hours 15 minutes. Speedway is killing itself and they need to stop all this “gardening” at the gates and going back to the pits every time there is an unsatisfactory start. -
Redcar V Rye House... Koc Semi-final... 11th July
BossMan replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Rye had 4 riders that only scored 11 pts between them - why are you only asking for Simon to be put out of his misery? -
Gb V Australia - Rye House 6 July.
BossMan replied to Metal Head's topic in International World of Speedway
Not a classic but also not a bad meeting, good win for GB. A decent crowd but not like you used to get at Rye – about time they built a Penn for those bloody kids though. Lol I like Roynon but the boy is clearly lacking in confidence, not sure meetings like this are helping him. Nelson spat the dummy again and tried to take his frustration out on Newman, had to be calmed down by boss Lemon. All in all an enjoyable meeting that for once didn’t drag on and on despite the amount of watering needed. -
Looks like I will actually be making an appearance for this one. Anyone know the guest for Rye? If Somerset are at full strength I can see a very close meeting with maybe the visitors just nicking it!

Rye House V Sheffield Pl 15th June
BossMan replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Has the 28 day facility been granted yet? …. And just a question as I honestly don’t know the answer, Mear has quit as opposed to “withholding his services” so does that make a difference? -
Lots of people saying Len has more interest in Kent than Rye these days and in some ways that proves it! Is it coincidence that both sides are struggling? Everyone knows that the crowds at Kent will dwindle quite quickly unless they start winning and I don’t go for all this bull $hit that they are a new team and need to settle down. The presentation at both venues is absolutely dire and you need supporters to pay the bills but the trouble is Len is stuck in the 60’s and won’t take advice from anybody. This Rye team were never going to do well without Garrity at reserve! I’ve gone from never missing a home meeting to only having been twice this year and to be honest I haven’t missed it. At least in previous years you knew that every Saturday there was some form of speedway at Rye. I much prefer the viewing at Rye but have found myself more often than not at Lakeside this year. It only cost £1 extra and they certainly put on a complete show with decent music, rider interviews and well run quick meetings. (Len take note)

Trying to make only my second visit this year to Rye - Just for the record Saturday is the 8th not the 9th -
Kent Kings V American Internationals 6/5/13
BossMan replied to cityrebel's topic in National League Speedway
Can’t argue with any of that Dave and I feel the Kent Kings may have shot themselves in the foot today when you consider how long they had to get things correct today. Additionally when I did manage to understand the announcements they were full of mistakes, I’m convinced it’s the same guy that used to make all the same mistakes at the Iwade track. The choice of going again has already been decided for me as I simply cannot make that start time. Anyway hopefully everything will be sorted and KK will have a long future in the sport. -
Rye House V Glasgow (koc) - 20th April 2013
BossMan replied to Mimmo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hmmm Not often I say this but glad I missed this meeting -
Think you will find Olly wouldn’t get up as opposed to couldn’t – was standing on the fourth bend at the time and had a great view. You also forgot to mention Doyle’s mechanical gremlins in heat 15 as well? Not convinced about Olly staying as a No. 1 and unfortunately Ben is still not ready for this league yet, shame as I like the kid.

I don’t get Speedway Star during the winter but I’ve been told in this weeks letter section a few people have disagreed with some stuff Len was saying – anyone know any more as my source is now away until the New Year – thanks. I would also like to wish everyone on this forum a very Merry Christmas a very prosperous New Year
