I think they are blinded by the Woffinden factor!

Being trialled by Birmingham this season

More spin than a washing machine. Yes, wolves are top of the table but your over-exuberance may come back and bite you in the bottom.

As predicted - a poor season beckons for Birmingham

Doesn't look like Mr Sandhu is backing up his words - hope this mess gets sorted because I was looking forward to tonight ... At least the ice speedway on Eurosport is good

What Are People's Hopes For The New Season.?
Steve0 replied to stratton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So watering the league down year on year is directed at keeping the dwindling support there is?? The changes are aimed at saving money - charge the same for less - it has been that way for some time now and the dwindling support is rightly doing just that - dwindling! As the phrase goes - you reap what you sow and unless they look at the value for money element, support will continue to fall until speedway is a more insignificant sport in the UK than it currently is! -
Just what I was thinking they have Swindon in 5th because they are lacking a 3rd heat leader - when he is the very person that has replaced Wolves 3rd heat leader at Somerset. Maybe they will be right and maybe not but I think Wolves will finish anywhere between 6th and 8th!
-
No - he wasn't riding for the Rebels - as you well know that is what people meant!
-
What a disgrace Somerset are by first releasing Nick, then dumping Ty without him turning a wheel for them and replacing him with Morris - disgraceful!!!
-
I think it's a disgrace that Ty has been replaced at Somerset before he has even turned a wheel for them. That is no way to treat a rider and Somerset should be punished - the same as when they dumped Morris who is ironically replacing Ty. I wish Ty a successful season for Wolves

18 years at Buxton and the immediate reaction - who??
-
Missed that - OK it won't be him then! Jim Lynch (he's popped up at most clubs) or maybe even Colin Pratt!
-
Joe Screen?

100 times better than Canary yellow

Maybe you can purchase one of the houses he builds - if you trust him that much. He might even let you choose which bend of the track for your plot. He is a businessman and, like all businessmen, he will do what is right for him. I do hope that Coventry continue at Brandon though as there is a lot of history at that venue.

This stupid draft system is supposed to encourage young Brits in the draft. No one has turned a wheel yet and some are already talking about replacing Lee Smart. If that does happen then it just shows how much of a crock the draft system is. Where is the encouragement for these riders when someone supposedly better comes along and they are dumped?? As I said - what a crock if it happens!
-
So what about encouraging Lee Smart then?
-
I think you meant to say available to sign for Poole - who were never going to be happy with Lee Smart even though a wheel hasn't been turned. I think the rules should be if you select a draft rider - you are stuck for the duration. After all, it won't help their development to be dumped at the drop of a hat. Oh! Wait a minute, it's Poole I'm talking about
-
Wolves 3rd and Coventry 9th - really? You may end up being right, but I think the majority think that Coventry will be at the upper end and Wolves in the middle. I'm also not so sure about Eastbourne making the play-offs but a few people have them down for that due to their home track advantage.
-
I think you mean morale! He may not be happy but what he said is bang on
-
Oh and here's Poole's answer to Norman Wisdom - Mr. Grimsdale
-
Good attempt at humour wrapped up in sarcasm Not a surprise that a Poole fan doesn't know what the word means
-
Interesting that you mentioned Lakeside and call-offs in the same sentence
-
Really? It really bothers me where/how they obtained it. I suppose that's the difference between a Swindon fan and a Poole fan - we have scruples!
-
I just want to say that when Swindon were in the PL. I enjoyed the racing just as much (sometimes more) without the so-called stars and the fans continued their support. I think what TWK is suggesting is certainly worth considering - maybe not so radical in banning all foreign talent but perhaps cap what clubs pay and learn to live with what you can afford. The hardest change (not PL/EL specific) was changing from a Saturday night to a Thursday but once people accepted that "Thursday night was now speedway night", the crowds picked up. However, Swindon over the last few seasons have struggled to get the fans through the door and I think that is more to do with the lack of continuity there has been. It has been shown that if you have an atractive fixture (e.g. Poole) at the right price, the fans will support it.
