That's fair enough and looking to bring in a quality #1 is a step forward - but will people put up with an inferior product for such a relatively high price. This isn't a dig at Birmingham (although their team is shocking this year) but more aimed at the general EL product. Imagine if you were marketing a new car - "we've changed the car to use inferior British parts - but this could be good in the long term as it keeps the costs down. And because of these changes we will keep the price the same". Ok, marketing wouldn't necessarily put that slant on it although I hope you can see what I'm trying to say. I know many people who have drifted away because of this and I have personally only been to one meeting this season as a result and, like others, I am not missing it and I thought I would - it's a worrying trend!

It's not just Poles - there seems to be pressure on all squad riders to be available on Saturdays for practise and then they get the nod for Sunday or go home without riding in the meeting. It's like they need to prove themselves before they are considered in the team!

I was looking forward to seeing young Lambert after all that had previously been said about him. I have to say I was disappointed but everyone has an off night and Lewis Kerr more than made up for his performance.
