  1. The Dugards will back the club with the right people in charge..
  2. For the sport in Sussex to run next season would depend on a few things. They would need to run in a league they can afford. They would need a figure head that the BSPL and the Dugards both trust Also, a significant start up fee would be needed. The BSPL would want the club to continue and the Dugard family would be behind the right promotion, they don't want the sport to finish at Arlo and will go out of their way to see it continue at the venue despite it costing them money.. The big issue would be the start up costs for a new promotion, that would need sponsors, fans and investors to contribute IF they want the sport to continue..
  3. Mistakes have clearly been made at Eastbourne and Ian Jordan is holding his hand up to admit this.. Speedway in the right league with a solid business plan is viable at Eastbourne.
  4. Thoughts that was proposed at one point, do you think the BSPL would entertain a fan owned club?
  5. I think it will be two leagues next season with a few clubs folding at the end of this year. An 8 team top league with the second tier a semi pro league with the current middle order riders becoming the the top riders in that division.
  6. More sad news today for Eastbourne and fans of a certain age like myself. Roy Prodger has sadly passed over today former rider and track man, thoughts with his family and Darren his son who I was with at school.
  7. So was mine, enjoy your speedway and Tommy gun from a sponsor of his. He's the real deal...
  8. Not the time to joke, I loved my trips to Reading..
  9. We would love that at Eastbourne, one last chance to say goodbye, meet old friends etc. So would Oxford, Cradley, Swindon and everybody else...
  10. I feel your pain as do all Eastie fans and the other closed clubs.. Oh my word, this sport...
  11. Eastbourne reserves get that if you listen to rumours
  12. Shows what the Dugard's feel about the sport at the venue, would that just be a break even figure for them? They are not going to promote the sport anymore I don't think but Paul Dugard has a role at the stadium so they clearly want the sport to continue without asking to make a lot out of the stadium in turns of profit.
  13. Ian Jordan has said there is interest in promoting Speedway at the venue and I know of one other.. I think a lot will depend on how speedway moves forward next season. A structure of 3 leagues have clearly not worked at all. A top league of 6 teams and the a second division made up with most of the riders from the top division expecting a good wage in that tier will clearly not work or be appetising to fans. There is a dwindling core of fans at first we need to look after, then bring back some lost support and then work on building a show that will entice new support. As mentioned, the sport needs to restructure its league for a start. A top league running pro and a second division that is semi pro. That would be a starting point to build on, but only a starting point mind..
  14. Q & A with Ian Jordan https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/ian-jordan-qa/
  15. A round at the old Eastbourne training track would of been better than this rubbishe
  16. He will always be Timmy to us Eagles fans...
  17. Signed for the rest of the season, no idea who holds his registration
  18. As I said, just a nibble and nothing more
  19. True mate, even Newcastle had a nibble at one of the riders..
  20. I looked at the league table yesterday, Easties results removed and the table adjusted As a sponsor I had a confidential email from Tom Brennan to say he's signing for Glasgow I see that Richard has signed for Plymouth and a few other Eagles have new team spots Hope that another promotion may take the club on next year, but lets face it, when a club folds how may come back? Its good to see riders getting a team place but the loss of Eastbourne means 7 riders will lose a team place and their job Its all rather painful
  21. This is my take on what has gone wrong at Eastbourne, its just my thoughts and based on limited Knowledge so could be wide of the mark.. 2019, the new promotion take over and take the club up a level They are promoting the club well, its a side built with the NDL side with a few additions to make it Championship competitive but substantial cost wise, there is a feel good factor about the club. 2020, With the club on a high, the club gamble on building a top team and offer wages based on the upwards spiral from the 2019 season, a gamble that the club will increase crowds and extra sponsorship. 2020 season does not happen. 2021 The club honour all contracts from 2020 and expect the upwards curve from the end of 2019 continues after 2020 covid. This starts to go horiblly wrong as gates start to fall and the club starts to spiral into debt. The business model was not thought out well, they gambled on the fact they could grow this season when really they should have cut back and consolidated.
  22. Agree, let this promotion clear its own debts and hopefully somebody else will take the club on next season..
