Many thanks for that. As a recent SkyHD subscriber I could not find this info in any of the bumpf that I got with the box, or on the website. I even phoned Sky CSD technical help......and he didn't know the answer either! Just picked up your post and it has helped several other folk too.

Not getting into the rights or wrongs, but if you really want to make a protest to Sky then CALL THEM! An email will get lost in millions of others but a call to a person has to be acknowledged. Won't guarantee you will get what you want but far more chance than an email. PS: Adopt a reasonable attitude with the person at Sky rather than a rant, and in my experience you may have some success (No guarantees!)

Buxton V Newport 31/10 - Sunday Start Time
lastword replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
As an Aces fan who only manages to get to the Buxton track on a few occasions each season may I offer my congratulations to the promotion on a major achievement this season. I have always enjoyed my visits to the track (except on the odd freezing/wet Sunday),and think that the whole set-up deserves this success after providing opportunities for young riders for so long. It would be nice to think that somewhere Ken Moss will be smiling with satisfaction......... -
It is also worth pointing out that if you want to identify your seat positions exactly (or ask for an end of aisle seat, for example), you can skip the website and instead telephone the booking office and actually speak to a real person!

Elrc - 16th October
lastword replied to Panthers99's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
A bit harsh, as this is just the line-up that could be expected under the usual 'rules'. However it does show that the BSPA have again been naive in their marketing.........suggesting that the event (which we all know has been devalued in recent times) would be re-invented by including those riders who are not riding here in the UK seems to have backfired on them. One of the first rules of marketing is that you should make sure that you can deliver on a promise before you advertise it........... Shouldn't be surprised I suppose. -
European Final Race Card
lastword replied to manchesterpaul's topic in International World of Speedway
Thanks, Paul...................very welcome! PS: You should know by now that you could travel to the meeting, text heat by heat results direct to people's phones, offer interval hot-dogs and drinks and a prize to those who guess the top three...................and someone on this forum would still find something to complain about............ -
Sgp Race Cards - Croatian
lastword replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm grateful to all the authors for their efforts, and have used the Danish version for everything but the GP's. I always use the Star for the televised GP's, (even use it at Cardiff!) BUT..........for those that are not aware and have the necessary technology, there is now an i-phone app for GP's which enables you to enter the heat results as you go, and it automatically updates the running scores/qualifiers etc. Not for everyone, but a high tech scorecard for those who want it.......... -

Polish Extraleague Sunday 8th August
lastword replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Perhaps our Polish friends can explain this one: I've just been perusing the heat results on Polish website and Gollob's non-appearance in heat 15 is shown as 'zm'. When this is put into Microsoft translate it comes up as 'died'. I watched the match and this is obviously false but the translation did make me wonder....... -

Depends where you look for the forecast,Rob. Weather Underground says 30% chance of rain exceeding 1mm all afternoon 'til 8pm. (That's more rain than it forecast for Saturday!) -

Olympic Stadium Gp 2013?
lastword replied to philfromcov's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not going to get into the Cardiff v. East London discussion and slightly off-topic, but the above post reminded me of when we (as Stockport County fans)went for a cup-tie at West Ham. The coaches dropped us off outside and we made a beeline for the nearest pub which was The Boleyn. We had a fine time chatting to the locals who were very hospitable. (Probably due to the fact that we were considered minnows and therefore not a threat). It was only later that we discovered that The Boleyn was probably not the best choice for away fans.......... County got the draw and beat the Hammers in the second leg, so perhaps if we go again (some hope!) we might find another pub! -

Depends on your weather forecaster of choice........... Whilst my choice has shown 100% chance of rain today for Gorzow, it shows around 30% on Sunday (low) and no rain on subsequent days......... -
Peterborough And The Hortons
lastword replied to lastword's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
OK, maybe I wasn't as transparent as I might have been in my original post. I am (as some of the intelligentia on this site supposed) a Stockport County fan. In addition I am a Belle Vue Aces fan of 50 years plus. So in fact I have a vague impression of what went on at The EOE showground during the Horton years. But, because it did not impact on the Aces I hardly considered it a priority for my attention. Now, with one of the brothers being part of a group attempting to buy the football club that I support, I have a legitimate interest. You may (or may not) be aware that the so-called 'consortium' of Peterborough 'business men' in this group include Mick Horton..........and that after 10 months of trying they still have not convinced the Football League that they are suitable candidates to buy the club. A League One football team may not be your concern, but it is certainly the concern of the supporters (and, before you dismiss them, there are more of them than currently attend the matches of either the Panthers or the Aces). All I asked for was a timeline of the involvement of the Horton brothers in promoting speedway.............not exactly asking for their credit card numbers! It's a matter of record after all.............I was just hoping that someone could help me avoid a long Google-ing task that would tell me the info anyway.................. So, come on, help a fellow speedway fan to get a handle on this.............surely the Horton's have nothing to hide?? -
Please could someone with the required knowledge give me a recent history of the Panthers and the Horton brothers? When each was involved, their positions at the club, the resulting effects and any other associated information. I am only interested in established facts, not necessarily (but I suppose inevitably some) opinions, and suggest a timeline format would be best. Nothing sinister I assure you...........just a genuine speedway fan gathering info.

2010 World Cup Calendar
lastword replied to IW08's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Remember this from earlier this year?? In order to obtain the rights to stage SWC, Gorzow's Town Hall (City Council) had to comply with 41 conditions put in front of them by the BSI. Among others, the Town Hall has to provide and pay for several rooms and one apartment in "the best hotel in town" for the BSI delegation at the time of the event duration, as well as for air tickets, three cars and translators. BSI will also be given, free of charge, 250 tickets for the best seats on the Main Stand, and 50 further (and more, if required) tickets at half price The Town Hall has to "ensure availability ( at no cost to BSI) of four girls to be present at the starting gate", and those girls "must be accepted in advance (of the event) by BSI. Apart from that the Town has to act according to all reasonable requests from the BSI.. The most important condition is that Gorzow, for the rights of staging the event has to pay BSI 300 thousand British Pounds. But that's not the whole cost Gorzow have to bear. There are advertising boards to be bought, security forces to be hired and all other costs involved in staging such a event. The list of BSI responsibilities is much shorter, and consists only of two points. The BSI is to supply their own air fence, decoration box and advertising board used as a background during TV interviews, and clothes for the track staff - if deemed necessary. They will also supply six blank advertising banners, which Gorzow can sell to interesting companies, on condition that BSI will approve them. Other conditions are no less interesting. Gorzow is not to undertake any activity, or voice opinions which might be seen as harmful to BSI reputation, renown and image. In other words Gorzow has to keep its mouth shut. Also when it comes to disclosing any details from their agreement, which the local newspaper has just revealed All in all the whole document consists of 15 pages. When Gorzow's mayor together with Gorzow speedway team chairman recently boasted about the news of signing the agreement with BSI, they did not reveal any details. The City Councillors were not very happy when they heard that everything had already been agreed and signed behind their backs. After all any public money which is to be spent has to be agreed by the whole Council. And councillors learned the details not at the City Council meeting, but from the local newspaper. The last nail in the coffin - so to speak - happened to be the news that the first 50 thousand GB Pounds ought to be paid four days after signing this agreement. Can we believe that the same contract will be in place in sunny Norfolk?? -
Dream Come True For Some. Ole Is Going....

Yup, looks like the classic move sideways into the car-park beloved of organisations that want a new face but have to give credit to the person moved on. -
I sometimes use the Danish Webmasters forms myself.........................but if you are so helpless then you need only BUY the Speedway Star and then fill in the names after practice. Seems the generosity of the Danish guy only breeds helplessness to the contributors to this site

There is nothing to discuss, really. Any rule that benefits a losing team in order to make the event artificially closer than it actually is, is open to abuse by the teams taking part. Encouraging a team to lose points in order to manipulate the score brings a sport into disrepute. It is also an insult to the spectators who pay to see the best team win. If a sport has to artificially manipulate the scoring system in order to keep fans interest then it does not deserve the support of those fans.

I have a videotape of the final (from Sky) that you are welcome to have................except that you would have to wait a few days as it is being passed around the family! If you don't get fixed up elsewhere then email me at lastword4038@hotmail.com with your details and I'll post it on eventually..........no charge.

and for those who have made other arrangements for the morning/are working/go to church. Oh dear, so the weather in Poland has inconvenienced some person in East Anglia who has to work/go to church? Boo hoo. For God's sake (in your case) the media and speedway world does not revolve around your needs! The meeting was RAINED OFF.........live with it, and if your personal life doesn't fit in with that then make your own choice..................watch the re-run or go to church,it's your choice, after all.............some of us are just grateful to be able to watch it at all.
