While we are reminiscing I remember years ago setting off from Manchester in a snowstorm, travelled down the M6 in a blizzard to watch the Aces at Brandon. Crazy! , but by the time we got there it was a bright day and the meeting went on as if nothing was happening further north. Sometimes it's worth the effort!

Yep, we've all been at matches like this haven't we..................don't want to leave, just in case.................but know that really it's not going to happen.......................

'Interesting' choice of music on the Tannoy................I am sure I can even hear the crowd joining in! (Wouldn't happen at Kirky Lane!)
-
His own worst enemy! He didn't need to do what he did, he could have been clear for a 5-1, but that's Nicki!

I'm in 'foreign' too............but good images.............thanks to Brandon bee.

Thanks!!

My usual sources are not forthcoming with appropriate images!! Any suggestions as to where to watch? EDIT: have now found link with Swedish(?) commentary. English??

I'll sign your expenses form .Tell PS to take it out of my subscription.

Pleasant evening here in South Manchester and should be just heading off for Kirky Lane. Sadly the previous 24 hours have been VERY wet, so an early call off. Will have to settle for the Danish offering this week. On another minor subject........who I wonder is the older guy in the pits (blue shirt, blue trainers) who seems to be there on every shot of that area? I think we should be told!!

Lost the bl**dy broadband again so missed heat 6, so thanks for the score update. I'm filling in my programme here and am having to compute the individual scores when the riders totals come up on screen when I miss a heat. (Hope that makes sense!) What was that you said.....'very relaxing'!

Thanks, back on since heat 2 but as you say.......the graphics guy seems to be on holiday!
-
result of heat 1 please......................my broadband went down at the tapes!!!!!!

Long been an issue that I have been following. Ask Bob Dugard at Eastbourne if this is possible!! Not so much the state of the track itself as how the graders 'treat' the gates as they pass over the starting line. I remember Alun Rossiter complaining at Kirky Lane that the water cart was over-watering certain gates before races in a meeting a few seasons ago. Not saying it was happening, but if someone like Rossiter brings it up he must know something.

Blimey, that's what I call an immediate response!!!! Keep up the good work.....................

So grateful for these streams but..............I do wish our friend on Premier Sports would have a better shot at pronouncing Thomasz' name....................Yed-zay-ak ( emphasis on the 'zay') is the nearest I can recommend, but certainly not Yed-ray-ak. Sorry to be pedantic, but it does grate. Still, on with the match...................

Jeezus! You just watched the whole of a speedway meeting from Poland as live......with some fine racing and certainly not as bad as some were predicting, in fact some good racing........and you choose to moan about the quality of the commentary (not the words, but the SOUND quality!!). Just what do some of you posters expect?? You won't be happy until some technology is able to present the event in your front room, together with a free beer and a taxi to take you to bed afterwards!

Latest figures I have seen (2012) suggest that average net wage in UK is £1,442. Poland comes in at 2,512zl (at rate of 4.5 to pound equals around £558 if my calculations are correct. Big difference. (Re Poles in England my lot came over in 1870, although it was Russian Empire then!) link: http://en.wikipedia....ly_average_wage

Always try to give credit to these guys......it's a dangerous activity after all, but I bet if SKY were doing the broadcast rather than our Danish friends, we wouldn't have this problem. Don't know how long it's been raining in Slangerup, but twenty years ago there wouldn't have been a problem with a track like this. Sorry if I come across as a 'wasn't like this in my day' kind of guy, but......it wasn't!

lastword replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yep! anyone who regularly watches TV coverage of Scandinavian speedway (especially those so-laid-back (yawn) Danes! ) will know that Pearson and Tatum are not that bad at all. Good to have a go at them sometimes but at least they are enthusiastic. Just one complaint from me.............Pearson needs to forget the 'you can't take your eyes off this' comment. He obviously thinks that it is his 'trademark' but it does grate after a while. Still as someone once said, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.
