Cheers Phil!

Forgive me asking but once the stream is live do I access it via the BV website or via You Tube? (I've paid my fee!) (Just trying to make sure I get to see it!)

Perhaps someone could answer this question for me? Surely there must be a limit imposed on crowd numbers for any event at present? With the grandstand seating already completely sold out for the SON how will that work? Not to mention all the tickets already sold for the back straight standing. If permission has been given for unlimited attendance then I withdraw my query, but I haven't seen that announced anywhere.
-
Thank you Philip. I must have missed that announcement. (And me a lifetime subscriber to the Star!!)

Call me a pessimist but I can't see the SON going ahead at Belle Vue. I appreciate that it's a while away but things will have to change dramatically before a sold out grandstand (to say nothing of the standing area) could be tolerated in this country. (And my family and I have three tickets pinned to my board at home)

Aces statement: Regrettably, this means that the Belle Vue Aces will not take part in league racing this season and therefore, following today’s announcement, we will review other options to stage speedway at the National Speedway Stadium in 2020. A further announcement on this and the National Development League will be made as soon as possible. This is disappointing news for everyone involved in Speedway but despite giving every opportunity to stage league racing this season, the timescales for Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted have beaten us. The National Speedway Stadium staging of the FIM Speedway of Nations final on the 24th and 25th October remains unaffected by today’s BSP Ltd announcement.

I am in the dark as much as anyone regarding the chance of the Principality Stadium being available later in the season. BUT.............this link gives some idea of what is going on there at present. (A few weeks ago). https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/health/inside-new-ward-covid-19-18085716 Apologies if this has been posted previously but it seems some on this site are unaware?

No question.................... got to keep supporting the Star! My immediate family have three subscriptions and can't imagine life without the Star. Keep up the excellent work!

My memories of Kelly (after he finished riding) relate to a 'meet Kelly' evening in a Buxton hotel. We had to wait a while but Kelly then appeared. Part way through his interview he decided to call his brother Shawn in California. He 'borrowed' a mobile phone from someone in the room (I think it was someone connected to the Sheffield promotion) and suddenly it was a three way show. It was a great evening but I often wonder what the size of the phone bill was.

The DVD is available from http://www.classicspeedwayvideos.com/ (Jan Staechmann's online shop) It is in Danish but has English sub titles. It's a great watch.

There is a feature on Sam Norris in this week's Speedway Star that really brings home what he and the family have gone through. Altogether a positive piece of reporting but also a detailed reflection on Sam's injuries and the difficult stages of his recovery.

The random Speedway heat thread (no spoilers)!

Just want to agree 100% with this post. The 'Star' is the speedway bible. And the only publication that represents OUR sport. It is inevitable that casual sales through supermarkets etc. will decline as people prioritise food purchases at this difficult time. If your finances allow please consider a subscription. PS: I'm not a 'Star' employee, just a long time subscriber.

And are these oldies the same oldies who are expected to care for grand-kids when the government closes the schools?

There was an item about the lighters in Speedway Star (January 4th issue) in the 'Off the Beaten Track' pages compiled by Peter Oakes. It mentioned an 'Exeter fan' who had seen the lighters in Prague and bought a set. I won't give his name on here but I am sure that if you can't find a copy of the Star then if you contact them by phone I'm sure they will help to put you in touch if they can.

I certainly remember his appearances at Hyde Road back in the day. Stood by the gate there too. Always good banter with fans.

Results of the four heats run before the abandonment. Races that took place in Kurri Kurri: 1. Fricke, Tungate, Sedgmen, Cook 2. Lidsey, Kurtz, Masters, Douglas 3. Pickering, Stewart, Medson, Keleher 4. J. Holder, Ch. Holder, Etheridge, Morrison Update: OOPS! Just seen earlier post by R and R with link to Updates site. Still better two links than none.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVQEqIjbKfc Here's day 2. Probably other days racing on You Tube somewhere?
-
Surely the stock cars at Buxton use the Hi-Edge raceway which is a completely stand alone track on the same site as the speedway stadium.

Just seen this Cyril Maidment thread. Cyril lived out his later years in Tenerife. At the time my son was managing a bar out there and met Cyril. He told Cyril I was visiting the island and arranged for me to meet the man. I was late for the meeting but gentleman Cyril waited for me at the bar (he was on lemonade!) and we had a great speedway conversation. He then left on his Harley Davidson. A couple of years or so later my by then ex-wife visited and knowing Cyril was her favourite Aces rider my son arranged another meeting with her! He then took her on a tour of the island! He was unwell for some time at the end and 'parked' his Harley as he said he just couldn't handle it anymore. But a real gentleman.

Sandor Levai?

Me too. From memory he was particularly adept at hugging the white line.

Kildemand's figures in the Ekstraliga in 2019. 48 starts and 3 wins, 8 second places. OK, the top Polish league is a lot more competitive than the British League but still................. 53. Peter Kildemand 13 48 3 8 14 20 0 1 2 0 0.979 3.00

Oh shame on you Rob! Don't think this is the time to try to rain on the Tiger's parade. It's got to be a good move for British speedway in general and whose to say that it may not start a trend? I mean, don't the management at the NSS have Matej on speed dial already?
