Some interesting odds for the Gorzow-Wroclaw match too! Presumably Gorzow are running RR for Iversen but even still Thomsen under 13 looks decent against a decent Wroclaw side?

I’m assuming he has signed as their second “guest rider”? Looks like they have well and truly given up hope with Kasprzak -
Let’s hope he comes in after Vaculik has decided to throw in his worst meeting of the year once I backed him.
-
I’ve gone Vaculik over 10 and Lindgren over 6. Vaculik potentially from 6 rides and the form he’s been in seems a good shout to me.
-
Fricke +1 over Przedpelski could be decent Lindgren over 6 too. He can’t be as bad as last week

I echo all of the above. Jack Holder joining and Zmarzlik being in tip top form has revitalised Gorzow. Lublin are real dark horses with the form of Zagar and Laguta too. With Leszno now looking very beatable, Czesztochowa well out of sorts, it’s going to make the run in to the play offs with a couple other teams well worth watching. -
Lambert v Jack Holder v other top young riders
Najjer replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think it’s a valid point that Jack didn’t want to ride for Poole last year. He wanted to stay at Somerset but was forced to leave by Somerset dropping down a league. He had been quite outspoken about his time there before and how he had been a different rider at Somerset because of how he was treated and felt more at home. Jack was sensational for Somerset that year and is absolutely tearing it up in the Polish leagues this year. Long may that continue for both him and Lambert. -

Not good enough and his confidence looks absolutely shot. He near enough waves riders past at sometimes and doesn’t look in the right frame of mind at all. I’d imagine R/R will be back in for the next match and Kasprzak on the sidelines. -

I said about Lublin being dark horses a few weeks back. What a performance this was after a shocking start. Zagar has been sensational after a terrible opening couple of weeks. -
Another one that’s come in for me. On a roll!

You’d fancy Woryna over 7 from 5 or 6 rides too

To an extent it doesn’t make that much difference, because the Rybnik manager has been inept at the times he’s used Lambert anyway, so at least he’s guaranteed 5 rides with the 6th coming as a tactical. -

That was my thoughts as you’d expect both Zmarzlik and Holder to score then that from 6 rides -

Bet 365 have Holder riding for Gorzow. I thought it was Kasprzak, Wozniak and Thomson in the middle order with R/R for Iversen? -

I made a call mid meeting when Doyle was riding like a wolly, to ensure my bet has come in tonight on Doyle vs Kolodziej handicap -
Bet 365 odds are out for tonight. Can’t see any absolute steals. Could be half decent value in Doyle over Kolodziej on +0 handicap? Likewise Sayfutdinov over Madsen. You’d fancy Doyle for over 7 too even with his disaster form of late.

It was made ahead of the 2016 season.

Debbie Hancock wasn't the promotor/owner when the club was formed back in 2000, and the Rebels nickname and logo was first chosen. Although the club has always been run on their land, the Hancock family didn't become owners until 2009 but even then didn't take full control of the club and team until another few more years later. The changing of 'nicknames' in the past has gone down like a lead balloon in times gone past with other teams, Reading probably being the prime example and the infamous switch to the 'Bulldogs' from the 'Racers'. I assume nobody was brave enough until Debbie and the rest of the management decided to ditch the confederate flag and make the press release that I have quoted above.
-
The logo was to put it in simple terms, copied from a previous speedway team of the same nickname as has been mentioned on this thread already. Andy Hewlett was the then promoter at Somerset and that logo was adapted down the years by various different promotions with the red background removed, before being dropped and changed completely for the current logo that is in use by the current promotion. As has been said, the nickname itself has historic meaning in Somerset, which is why to this day 20 years on is still being used by the speedway team. Since the club's formation in 2000, the team logo has been the Confederate flag under which the Southern States fought in the American Civil War, but club promoter Debbie Hancock feels that the club logo needs to reflect its home county of Somerset as she explains;“Even though we are now some 16 years on since the club was first formed, people still ask what the Confederate flag has to do with Somerset, especially as the nickname Rebels was adopted to commemorate the Rebel uprising at the Battle of Sedgemoor.”“In addition, we felt that given certain tragic events which took place in America last year, it would be insensitive of us to continue using the Confederate Flag as the club logo and, as such, we wanted something which would be more reflective of the County of Somerset and felt that nothing does that more than the mythical Wyvern, which is the Somerset County emblem.” Hope that clears things up for you.

They really don't like Batchelor, do they? -
You’re making yourself look silly. Grachan has rightly given the back story on where the name for the ‘Rebels’ came from. After some of the killings in the US a few years back where somebody was wearing the confederate flag, this was dropped by the Somerset promotion to fall in line with the crest of Somerset, which is also used by the Cricket club and many other things throughout Somerset.

I hope you took all 3 of those bets - you’d of been quids in!
