I’m all for a final at the end of an event. It’s no different than in football beating every team 8-0 in the FA Cup and then losing in the ‘showcase’ final and coming runner up.
i think for a one off event like this though, 8 going through to the semi finals is way too much. I much prefer the system of rewarding the top 2 to be seeded straight to the final and then 3-6 in the last chance semi. I also like just having the top 4 go straight to the final. It just means there is interest right until the final heat which adds to the drama and overall entertainment of the meeting.
Watch out for the each way bets in-play when you get to the final... sometimes they offer them but sometimes they don’t. Normally quite easy to cash in on a final!
Blimey, I get they want to press on with the meeting quickly but he’s literally been lobbed on the stretcher and away in the ambulance in mere minutes!
Iversen over 4 looks a banker in the GP. I’ve taken abit of a gamble and backed Jaimon Lidsey fairly heavily each way in the under 21s too. He’s been mega quick in recent weeks so expect him to score quite heavily today.
Quite some schedule he’s had if he is in Sweden tonight. Poland Monday, Sweden Tuesday, Denmark Wednesday, Sweden Thursday, back to Poland for the GP at Toruń on Friday and Saturday and then onto Gorzow for Sunday. Some week that!
Bet 365 are offering odds on the Danish final tonight too. I dislike him as a rider, but Madsen each way looks good value!
Rasmus Jensen over Peter Kildemand too
Depending on the price of the stream, using your £12 example, if 5 neutrals who wouldn't of ever been going to the meeting anyway decide to watch then the club is making even more money
In an ideal world, every club within the top tiers would be on board with this and the BSPA effectivelly create a "Network" which people sign up to on a monthly basis. Every match is shown live on the Network and income is dished out to the clubs involved. You could end up attracting large amounts of neutrals and general armchair fans to this who have been lost to the sport. This is in my opinion ambitious yes, but could be the answer to keeping British Speedway afloat.
I know of another event that was streamed away from Speedway that did this same thing. I believe this is to avoid certain license fees which are incurred if the event is PPV as oppose to donations.
