MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE
Najjer replied to Gunner85's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This will tip some of you over the edge - they’ve actually said that the current new ruling is 2 leagues including the Polish league, but the eventual plan within a few years will be to reduce that solely to competing in the Polish league and Grand Prix. -
I know that and fully understand the reasons behind it. I am merely highlighting the issue as a comparison against the Poles

This is a really interesting point and pretty much bang on the money. It comes as no surprise or coindence when our current best riders in the world grew up in Australia or in Germany I believe in Woffinden and Lambert. Gone are the days of a packed second half meeting and continuous training schools. It’s great there is the U15 championship and a few other youth rounds but it’s nowhere near enough. Nowadays when riders sign for a team over here, they rock up a few hours before, ride 4/5 races and then go home until the next time. The Poles are at training throughout the week, constantly on the bike and this is why they are light years ahead of us in development at that level.

MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE

The thing in Britain’s favour for riders like Doyle is that they like to be racing lots. Doyle might be willing to take a financial hit on his league income by choosing Britain over Sweden in a bid to get back to the top of the Grand Prix standings by riding regularly throughout the week. Seen as he is based in the UK, cutting down on travel to and from Sweden might make sense for him. -
Josh Grajczonek must be on his way back to Europe as he’s signed on for Bydgoszcz again. What a squad they are assembling! I think I’m right in saying he rides with a Polish license now so counts as a Polish senior too. I haven’t seen it confirmed anywhere but this will also surely spell the end for Kai Huckenbeck in Bydgoszcz as they simply don’t need him anymore.

When riders are signing up and agreeing to contracts on Poland when it knowingly means they can only ride in 1 other league, how is that a restriction of trade? They have agreed to the rules in place by signing the contract.

try this: https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/906912/zuzel-transfery-sklady-druzyn-2-liga-zuzlowa-2021 The only problem is that might not be 100% correct as it includes people with existing contracts but may not be confirmed for next year. That’s one of the reasons for me running the line ups on the other threads as it’s easier to track who is a U24 rider also. Oleg Michailow at Daugavpils being one example of those under contract but not confirmed as he’s been linked to Gdańsk. Probably a result of the knock on effect of the U24 rule being bought in and reducing the number of foreigners per team, meaning the likes of NKI and co have dropped down to Division 1 and pushing the likes of Thorsell down to Division 2.

They have amended the guest rule for next year, so that they can only replace people who have returned a positive COVID test. I think from memory it is only juniors who can be used as oppose to anybody like we saw this year
-
As I’ve said previously, riders could always choose to give Poland a miss and ride in Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Czech.... with the money on offer in Poland, I bet they don’t though!

I said before but I actually quite like the look of Toruń if they can get Zupinski which it looks like they will. I think they will probably get some right beatings away from home at some tracks but they should be decent value around their home track, especially if Lambert brings his early season form and Jack Holder is back on it too. Grudziadz look like they could easily hit 60 at home and likewise hit 30 too. Their lack of junior power is a big problem for them, especially if Shamek and KK aren’t up for it.

MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE

Admittedly his options were very limited in the Polish Extraleague and it doesn't have a direct impact on British Speedway, but Michael Jepsen Jensen is the first rider to say he will drop down to the Polish 1st Division so that he can then ride in Denmark and Sweden. I'm not privvy to know what sort of money is being paid in Sweden, but I would assume it would be a straight shootout between Britain and Sweden for the likes of Holder and Lidsey. -
Gleb Chuganov will be the second Pole - Dan Bewley will be the U24 rider then. Either that or Chuganov will ride as the U24, Bewley at no.8 with one of the juniors declared as the second Pole without actually getting a ride, much like they did this year towards the end of the year with Liszka. Przedpelski blew hot and cold, similar to Woryna albeit Woryna in a much weaker side. I expect to see much improved performances from Kacper in a better side.
