  1. People seem to have overlooked with Riss that he competes in the Polish 2nd Division, so is only able to ride in two other leagues aswell. You’d anticipate that would rule him out of at least one of Redcar or Lynn, maybe even both.
  2. Excuse my ignorance here, but what’s the story here? I had forgot he even rode for Berwick let alone any of the stories that went with it.
  3. So there is talk of teams needing to have British reserves at Championship level.... ... It just shows utter contempt yet again for the fans with all this secrecy and “details to be revealed soon” bull$hit. If it’s been sorted at the AGM why invite speculation instead of just releasing the facts and keeping everybody informed?
  4. I love it when people try to correct somebody for their grammar and then get it wrong themselves. Next you’ll be using big words you don’t understand because you think it’ll make you look really photosynthesis.
  5. No need to sell - there are several industrial units that exist currently on the land and work is well underway adding several more in what used to be the usual speedway and more so for the Pairs the ‘over flow’ car park. All the new road infrastructure has been built in recent months and already in place for that too and signs up advertising about purchasing the new units. Edit: There is supposed to be even a coffee drive-thru being added!
  6. Ahhhh the good old “details to be revealed in due course” British Speedway classic. What a shambles
  7. That’s the bit that has confused me too and I can’t understand. Quite a bold statement to make with no explanation.
  8. It says about the license being “on hold” although no mention of hopefully being back. That final line thanking everyone for their support over the years reads like a goodbye to me.
  9. Interesting that the press release on the Somerset site differs from the one released on the BSPL site where they appear to have missed off the paragraph about not being guaranteed a full campaign. Classic case of BSPL burying their heads in the sand when something is said that they don’t like perhaps? As Lord General Godfrey keeps saying “Don’t believe what they say, let’s go racing!” I must admit, I don’t overly understand that part of the press release. If Somerset are concerned about running at a loss, then what difference does running a shortened or full campaign make? That doesn’t make any sense but backs up claims of growing unrest in recent weeks between different teams and promotions. I completely understand the impact of COVID on the Oak Tree Bar and Food outlets which obviously helps subsidise the speedway so not sure how or why a shortened or full campaign play a part in that? A sad day. I think one of the most disappointing things is there has been next to no communication to Somerset fans for months about plans and genuine news like other teams in the country have managed, bar some promises and “facts” posted on here... then on the day of the AGM they are dealt a sucker punch that their team is pulling out regardless of the reasons given. With concerns about running at a loss, it makes you wonder if we’ve now seen the last ever laps of speedway at the Oak Tree Arena. Over 2 years without racing will be incredibly hard to come back from.
  10. My predictions are the outcome of the AGM will be: Season to start in February to squeeze all of the fixtures in 8 man teams to cover for injuries North and South split with the South division comprising of Somerset and Poole 42.50 points limit There will now be double double tactical substitute tactical rides. More info to follow in 8 months time. Purple helmet colour introduced. No teams other than Scunthorpe to ride on a Friday. Riders must socially distance at the starting tapes. And the finishing closing statement of “British Speedway is thriving and has never been in a better position due to the fantastic leadership of Chapman and now Lord General Godfrey. Let’s go racing.” Something like that anyway is what I’m expecting.... Anything different will hopefully be a bonus
  11. This has to be of been a fairly recent decision. Rosco and Doyle both in the press in recent weeks and months saying about riding for Swindon next year and leaving out Sweden, so he was either kept in the dark or as I said a recent development. All the best Swindon fans.... seems like a long road back
  12. What came first, the chicken (the people running the sport) or the egg (us, the fans)... In this instance, it is most certainly the chicken!
  13. I couldn’t agree more. When the season starts because of corona virus is neither here nor there with regards the make up of the teams. It’s an absolute mess to now have made no plans and solutions to conquer Brexit, Polish League and other doings which have been on the cards as you say for months and beyond.
  14. How many riders are now actually effected by Poland’s restriction though? All these press releases that keep referencing the problems around rider availability because of Polish restrictions We’ve already had Jack Holder and Jason Doyle confirm they are going to carry on over here, whilst Robert Lambert, Rohan Tungate and Nicki Pedersen are confirmed as being out. Haven’t seen anything on Dan Bewley or Jaimon Lidsey. The ‘massive rider availability’ problem is because 5, possibly a few others aren’t riding here? Has to be more to it than that.
  15. I’ve said this a while back, but what a refreshing change in the world of British speedway Rob Grant is. It’s never going to be a world beating league winning team, but ran to a budget to remain financially viable and complete open and honest communications to the fans.... the paying customers keeping them informed. Some of the silence from other teams is deafening and shows a complete disregard to their paying customers. Fair play to Newcastle.
  16. A little late in catching up on this one, but an interesting article here for anyone who hasn’t seen this yet.... https://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/8732/kubera-move-to-lublin-on
  17. There are many people within this country that literally despise and can’t stand football. Doesn’t stop it being a national sport though.
  18. Of course I’m a supporter - I wouldn’t be on a Speedway forum if I wasn’t a speedway supporter. It’s the level of that support is what has changed over the years along with a whole host of other people.... who are never right
  19. I’ve suggested a solution to that but been told it’s not feesible because people putting the fence up might get abit more muddy than normal
  20. Using these scenarios then, why would a trench not work in scenarios 1, 2 and 4? I appreciate it can’t be used at tracks where they have stox but that doesn’t stop it being a better solution for other tracks where it is possible. For anybody with a basic understanding of fabrication, groundwork’s and construction, it would be very easy to solve the ‘issue’ you mention of the edge collapsing. For what purpose you asked?? For increased safety. You can’t put a price on that.
  21. I’ve had this argument about air fences many times in the past. Whilst you don’t see the ‘fences lifting’ or riders sliding under them anywhere near as much as you used to around 20 years ago, I’ve never understood why the fences aren’t sunk into the ground 12” or even more and then anchored down to prevent that being an issue?
  22. I think that ship sailed for the “South” when we lost Newport, Exeter, Reading, Trelawny, Plymouth, Swindon and even Rye House to an extent from the division The old premier trophy meetings were always great season openers.
  23. Only for one week or so. New or returning people then will object to the “increase” the following week as that’s likely one of the reasons they stopped or haven’t ever been before. It needs to be over a sustained period of time and actually just reduced full stop. Some tracks charging £18 is madness.
  24. Who has reduced admission fees? Nearly every team in the land is I believe overpriced, especially championship teams in a comparison vs the price of Premiership and the higher standards.
