From Championship racing pretty much yes - as I would imagine it would be hard to accommodate his Friday or Sunday league commitments in Poland vs the away tracks in the Championship.

I know he rides for a German team in the Polish League, but does he not actually ride in the German league too? Edit - Think it appears he doesn’t...

Potentially add a condition where nobody over an average of 6 or something can be included. This then begs the next question, what happens this year if say Drew Kemp rides at reserve and averages 7+? Is he just going to hung out to dry mid season like Boxall and Armstrong were when this was previously trialled? Something will need to be in place.

I’ve thought about this and I think it’s a classic case of British Speedway over complicating things. Why have all this graded nonsense? Why not just say the no.7 is designated to British U24 riders and have done with it? Teams can pick their riders to suit no matter how good or bad they do, taking the lead from Poland in this respect. The intentions are very good but the execution is just missing in my opinion. Some may argue that could open up a bidding war for the best riders but that is likely to happen even with gradings come next year. The whole grading system just opens up such unneeded debates where teams will try and screw each other over by insisting their riders should be graded lower and opposing riders graded higher... we’ve been here before with that!

You’ve answered your own question there... if hospitality is due to reopen in May then surely Speedway in an outdoor environment beginning in May seems reasonable?

I love that Len has introduced Hurry as a former under 21 champion

So we had to wait over a week because the BSPL had a big announcement to make via their media partners Eurosport... who managed to muster up a paragraph and a half in that time? Talk about an anti climax. Was hoping for some form of streaming service to be announced as had been rumoured but nothing of the sort. It’s good news that British Youth riders are now being a minimum requirement in every team though, that’s a good move. I just hope that teams don’t now try and wrangle it to end up with dodgy Australian’s at reserve who has a long lost auntie with British heritage and sneak in that way. Likewise, I hope they don’t sack it off mid season like they did with this exact same process about 15 years ago, when Boxall and Armstrong (god knows why he was included from the beginning but that’s another story) performed above what was expected and were forced into the main body of each team. If teams pick up some young riders who are blinders and perform above the expected then that is only great news and they shouldn’t be punished for it. The next argument will come next year when teams want certain riders downgraded to fit into their team or opposing riders upgraded... we can only hope not!

Both the same person - Bill Hancock (Debbie Hancock’s dad).

The land that is currently being developed is alongside but not including the current speedway car park and track - This land is what used to be the overflow car park that was used for league meetings and usually full for the Pairs. Edited: Spelling

https://www.burnham-on-sea.com/news/new-14-6-acre-business-park-in-highbridge-set-to-bring-jobs-boost-to-the-town/ Talk about bad timing with this being released by the local press within a week of the speedway team pulling out of the league
-
People seem to have overlooked with Riss that he competes in the Polish 2nd Division, so is only able to ride in two other leagues aswell. You’d anticipate that would rule him out of at least one of Redcar or Lynn, maybe even both.
-
Excuse my ignorance here, but what’s the story here? I had forgot he even rode for Berwick let alone any of the stories that went with it.

So there is talk of teams needing to have British reserves at Championship level.... ... It just shows utter contempt yet again for the fans with all this secrecy and “details to be revealed soon” bull$hit. If it’s been sorted at the AGM why invite speculation instead of just releasing the facts and keeping everybody informed?

I love it when people try to correct somebody for their grammar and then get it wrong themselves. Next you’ll be using big words you don’t understand because you think it’ll make you look really photosynthesis.
-
No need to sell - there are several industrial units that exist currently on the land and work is well underway adding several more in what used to be the usual speedway and more so for the Pairs the ‘over flow’ car park. All the new road infrastructure has been built in recent months and already in place for that too and signs up advertising about purchasing the new units. Edit: There is supposed to be even a coffee drive-thru being added!

Ahhhh the good old “details to be revealed in due course” British Speedway classic. What a shambles

That’s the bit that has confused me too and I can’t understand. Quite a bold statement to make with no explanation.
-
It says about the license being “on hold” although no mention of hopefully being back. That final line thanking everyone for their support over the years reads like a goodbye to me.

Interesting that the press release on the Somerset site differs from the one released on the BSPL site where they appear to have missed off the paragraph about not being guaranteed a full campaign. Classic case of BSPL burying their heads in the sand when something is said that they don’t like perhaps? As Lord General Godfrey keeps saying “Don’t believe what they say, let’s go racing!” I must admit, I don’t overly understand that part of the press release. If Somerset are concerned about running at a loss, then what difference does running a shortened or full campaign make? That doesn’t make any sense but backs up claims of growing unrest in recent weeks between different teams and promotions. I completely understand the impact of COVID on the Oak Tree Bar and Food outlets which obviously helps subsidise the speedway so not sure how or why a shortened or full campaign play a part in that? A sad day. I think one of the most disappointing things is there has been next to no communication to Somerset fans for months about plans and genuine news like other teams in the country have managed, bar some promises and “facts” posted on here... then on the day of the AGM they are dealt a sucker punch that their team is pulling out regardless of the reasons given. With concerns about running at a loss, it makes you wonder if we’ve now seen the last ever laps of speedway at the Oak Tree Arena. Over 2 years without racing will be incredibly hard to come back from.

I could think of a few!

My predictions are the outcome of the AGM will be: Season to start in February to squeeze all of the fixtures in 8 man teams to cover for injuries North and South split with the South division comprising of Somerset and Poole 42.50 points limit There will now be double double tactical substitute tactical rides. More info to follow in 8 months time. Purple helmet colour introduced. No teams other than Scunthorpe to ride on a Friday. Riders must socially distance at the starting tapes. And the finishing closing statement of “British Speedway is thriving and has never been in a better position due to the fantastic leadership of Chapman and now Lord General Godfrey. Let’s go racing.” Something like that anyway is what I’m expecting.... Anything different will hopefully be a bonus

This has to be of been a fairly recent decision. Rosco and Doyle both in the press in recent weeks and months saying about riding for Swindon next year and leaving out Sweden, so he was either kept in the dark or as I said a recent development. All the best Swindon fans.... seems like a long road back

MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE
Najjer replied to Gunner85's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
What came first, the chicken (the people running the sport) or the egg (us, the fans)... In this instance, it is most certainly the chicken! -
I couldn’t agree more. When the season starts because of corona virus is neither here nor there with regards the make up of the teams. It’s an absolute mess to now have made no plans and solutions to conquer Brexit, Polish League and other doings which have been on the cards as you say for months and beyond.
