  1. That seems bonkers. Losing a rider because of injury or whatever reason should inevitably make your team weaker, that is the reality of it. Unfortunately they have now created a scenario where not only are you no longer weaker but you are actually far stronger. When riding at home with no logical reason using maths and statistics, you can get a guest with a higher percentage average than the missing rider. We now even have a scenario at Oxford where they’ve sacked and replaced a rider in Klindt, for Riss whilst keeping an injured rider in the side. There is no way that the league should of accepted that redecoration and the use of guests like Nicholls now.
  2. And get riders taking guest bookings and scoring nothing so it then lowers their average? That would be a daft idea.
  3. Not that it takes much, but Nicholls has outsmarted the rule makers/promotors. He technically signed for Wolves last year and has signed for Birmingham this year thus meaning he continues on a rolling average of not alot (not his Chanpionship converted) without guest bookings effecting that. He can continue to take guest bookings and scoring heavily without it effecting his average, picking and choosing which meetings he does to go alongside his TV work.
  4. Did you see Janowski’s opening match for Wroclaw? He was far worse for them than he has been for Oxford!
  5. I see Vaculík has been mentioned on Facebook, although no idea how reliable that is….
  6. Something tells me this is just the first move to make points available with a new signing on its way for Kerr
  7. Yep, saved by the rain thankfully
  8. Birmingham to win at 4/5 tonight - nice and simple
  9. I think it’s a good point that Wolves usually visited on bank holiday, so the likes of Masters, Becker and Douglas won’t of visited much in recent years except Monday lunchtime - which the track will be far different to that tonight
  10. Somerset speedway owners did own the land in which the track sat - but was approached with what I’m led to believe was “an offer which couldn’t be refused”. The clubhouse is now owned by a fuel company with surrounding car park areas now housing screwfix, Howdens kitchens and a Ford car garage.
  11. Thats exactly what Sportowefakty does for British results - they even state at the beginning of the results that’s what they do too.
  12. I don’t want to sound like I’m running her down, but what exploits in the continent?
  13. The proof is in the pudding - look at Denmark. They currently run a whole league system off 5 man teams. We should be using this example as one to try and match. 5 riders with the 6th then a British junior completing the team.
  14. Ah yes, a temp replacement like all teams should strive to do once an injury occurs, the opposite to what Plymouth have been able to achieve in this scenario. Nicholls guested once for Doyle (not twice) due to his wife being in labour, which is as good as an excuse you will get. For what it’s worth, if I was setting the rules then if only one rider is missing then it should be RR and no guests.
  15. 6 man teams instead of 7 - that is the first solution
  16. It’s a sad state of affairs for the league and speedway in this country, not a solely Plymouth issue when a team is starting a brand new season with only 6 of their 7 permitted riders. Guests are the bane of the sport and it just gives a complete unprofessional look. The fact that teams and rule makers havn’t already come to this conclusion in advance that in the event of injury, there isn’t enough riders to cover and go round is the biggest worry of them all. This has now happened for at least 2 seasons for multiple teams but instead of doing anything about it, just continue to plow on with the farcical guest situation. The Premiership has started to get its act together and is becoming more professional and things are being put in place to make an overall better product - The Championship is being left behind massively.
  17. Stop making such sensible suggestions - although, I’m going to assume even if this idea was explored it was quickly stopped to ensure the Premiership had 7 teams and less riders to find in the Championship.
  18. How many times have I suggested that they should be 6 man teams? It makes no sense to be continuing in the Championship with 7 rider teams
  19. This is why I love watching Tarasenko - great style and balls of steel. He really is a classy performer.
  20. Copy and pasted from Polish site Sportowefakty: At the beginning of March, the Falubaz Zielona Góra team went to a training camp in Świnoujście. Unfortunately, the trip ended unlucky for Piotr Pawlicki, who returned home with an injury. Piotr Pawlicki was preparing intensively for the new season and suffered a muscle injury just before the first training sessions on the track. The athlete did not hide that he needed a few weeks to get back to full fitness. The Pole had to withdraw from the first matches in Great Britain. From the machine park, he also watched his friends who were training at 69 Wrocławska Street in Zielona Góra. - Rehabilitation is going well, I feel very good and I can't wait to get on the motorcycle - admitted the Falubaz Zielona Góra rider . ADVERTISING The 29-year-old was on the starting list of the Golden Helmet final, which is also the Jerzy Szczakiel Memorial. The competition will take place on April 1. There is a good chance that we will see Pawlicki on the track. - It's not easy watching the boys skate, but I have to be patient and wait for my turn. [...] Next week I will get on a motorcycle - he added —————— For further context, Zielona Gora have said that Pawlicki won’t be riding next Tuesday or Wednesday in sparring meetings either. But, Pawlicki will be back on a bike from next week at some point - So I wouldn’t expect him to be riding over here next Monday almost certainly…. Or even the following Monday at home to Oxford, as it sounds like he could be busy elsewhere in Poland!
