Good signing in Basso and great news about the sponsorship. I never understand the secrecy of treating fans like idiots though where “sorry about lack of information but lots is happening” tell them then!! I don’t understand why speedway promotions always take this approach to matters. You don’t get it in football where it’s a huge secret. Let the fans know what’s going on!

He still riding - probably pick himself as the first name on the team sheet!
-
He had a serious injury this year but was still well up there with being the best in Poland at times. If you think that Niels K Iversen is even anywhere near Holder or Pedersen’s standard then you’re delusional or misinformed.
-
According to the speedway star, he was approached by the consortium of guys trying to bring Somerset back in August. Apparently he has been approached by a former promoter within the last couple of months - although it makes reference to Greg Daniels’ business plan in the article so you assume he is the one taking the lead with it.
-
Further statement out today on Facebook saying the new promotion have taken over the old website so that the history can be continued, as well as then distancing themselves from the old owners. Also, there is an interesting article in the speedway star!
-
Now it might never come to anything, but the Facebook post very much said it would not be a sole purpose speedway arena and could be used for a number of events. There are a couple of sites on the agenda so a certain amount of homework has gone into it and to see how viable that is. The previous promotion of the speedway club were absolutely fantastic… until the final year or so and then into covid. A really sad and very abrupt end with various excuses given at the time other than “we had an offer we couldn’t refuse”

Ever the optimist. Your comment has been really informative and helpful to the discussion

Non starter - the clubhouse next to the track was sold off to a local fuel company for offices and the car parking and surrounding area is now covered with huge industrial units. I haven’t been to see myself but I was told the old track had been dug up too.
-
I’m not completely sold on the name idea but frankly they could be called just about anything as long as it’s local and in Somerset.

Speedway hopefully returning to Somerset and 15 minutes or so up the road from the old track. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Interesting that the wording has now been changed on the British Speedway site - but it still says he’s leaving ALL Polish Leagues .
-
Unless rules have changed, it always used to be a condition of entry for Polish riders unless they were on a ACU license. We’ll see.
-
Where do you think they get the info from?
-
Article out elsewhere completely contradicting the Glasgow statement that Nowak will be giving up Poland - in fact, quite the opposite! With the reduced fixtures in England, you’d hope fixtures could be arranged so they don’t clash with Poland but Division 2 often ride Saturday mornings.
-
Interesting to note that he is actually signed up for Rzeszow in Poland in Division 2 for next year. Their squad consists of: Kevin Wolbert Jacob Thorsell Jonas Jeppeson Eduard Krcmar Peter Kildemand Marcin Nowak Rafal Karcmarcz Mateusz Tudziedz It is a requirement that all sides must feature at least 2 Poles and an U24 rider. For Rzeszow to comply with that then Nowak will have to ride unless he is being replaced by a junior which seems very unlikely. Clear as mud ey?
-
Quite some signing this as on decent gear he can be a really tidy performer. Hadn’t clocked that before he hasn’t actually signed for anybody in Poland but he must be on a fair wedge to give that up.
-
Somebody who doesn’t understand averages - if we a team draws then their team total will end up around the 42.00 mark, not 39.00. There is nothing risky about signing Doyle. Quality, reliable and classy performer.
-
Does make you wonder why it’s not been made compulsory for all Championship sides not to have a 2 pointer/Rising star?
-
I don’t disagree with you about the league trying to operate at a higher standard - but I do disagree and think it’s rubbish about their not being a rider shortage. There 100% is. If you lower the standard even more then that would only make even less riders available with the likes of Doyle, Holder, Fricke etc not riding over here.
-
Rubbish. How is it so then that Birmingham and Plymouth went a whole season without finding suitable replacements for riders who were unavailable from March/April? Likewise Kings Lynn with Iversen
-
This is actually the biggest mistake of the AGM - the rider absences and guests last year turned into an absolute joke due to rider shortage. This was a problem at both levels but especially at Championship. With Leicester now moving up that seems to make the problem even worse at Premiership level though regardless of a few extra riders coming from the Polish league which were blocked before. That will not offer more options in the middle and lower ends of teams where teams needed it last season. Going to 6 man teams would of freed up 16 team places in total and eased that problem. Guests should be blocked unless they are replacing a reserve (or in the Premiership scenario the squad member rising star is used - this should of been introduced at Championship level too) or if there are two riders missing from one side. They could then use RR and a guest. There would be less travel costs for promotors to pay out, less signing on fees, riders would be getting more rides every night so earning more money and there would be a greater source of rider availability. Lower costs for teams, riders earning more, less guests/riders missing, what is not to like?? Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised but I am dumbfounded that they have done absolutely nothing to ease or stop this problem.

Smederna -10 for me and -4 after heat 8. Think they should win fairly comfortably
-
I assumed he was still at reserve but I guess Basso now goes to reserve then. Didn’t realise that

Lejenon -6 Thornblom over 4
