It has been said Ipswich started talking to Emil in November - at which point it wasn’t clear if Laguta would be available, whilst it was much more likely that Emil would be given his greater length of time as a Polish citizen.
-
Because teams get more social media and news coverage by announcing riders individually that joint together usually. Especially given this one, I think Hume may of been overshadowed by Sayfutdinov somewhat.
-
…..just not in heat 15 if the pressure is on
-
What an ignorant post. I could understand if they announced the signing of Putin but this is a little bit different. Just because he is Russian does not mean he should be tarred with the same brush. What a fantastic signing for Ipswich and great news for British Speedway.

This is legit the best post I’ve ever seen on this forum

Jeeez they’ve secured the stand out performer for the last 5 years or more of British Speedway in Jason Doyle, Kenyan Rew who was highly sort after and I think will end up with over a 6pt average at least as he is that good…. And potentially pulled a blinder in getting Emil…. But you want them to push the boat out? Most people would give their right arm to have those 3 names on the team sheet. You could have the final 4 as 4 clones of Travis McGowan and I’d still be demanding they take my money now to see the other 3 on a regular basis!
-
No I meant Grigori - the poster before me who I had quoted said “Emil and both Lagutas” which isn’t correct. Grigori has not applied for Polish citizenship or a license.
-
Just for reference too, Grigori Laguta hasn’t claimed Polish citizenship. After his comments made at the beginning of the war, I think hell is likely to freeze over before he gains Polish citizenship! He does however have Latvian citizenship I believe.

It isn’t, which is why I said in a previous post that Chapman/Peterborough end up looking just as bad, if not worse - meaning there isn’t really a winner in all of this 5 month drawn out affair.
-
This thread is full of “I know more than you know” people isn’t it? But won’t actually say what they mean….
-
He ends up looking like a d!ck because instead of a well worded statement, he’s sabotaged the launch of the new team colours out of spite and comes across as totally unprofessional. He’s got every right to feel aggrieved but have some respect. I never really liked Holder when he was at world champion standard but have grown to quite like him over the last couple of seasons in Poland - but you see things like this and remember why I disliked him before.
-
Maybe he’s been ousted too?
-
The club would be the ones splashing out on a race suit - especially given it’s completely dropped the red element of the usual Panthers design to incorporate all the purple of Tomalin’s company. It’s a pretty sorry mess and the typical scenario where nobody really wins. Chapman ends up looking like a d!ck, Holder ends up looking like a d!ck and left without a British side. Nobody really wins. On the flip side I hope Pedersen comes in to replace him as regards of what some have said and his injuries he is absolute box office.
-
Interesting that you have a total of 16 posts and the vast majority are about confirming both Sayfutdinov and Pedersen for Ipswich and Peterborough… Hmmmmm
-
Of course there is better riders than him in the league but that doesn’t stop him from being an out and out no.1. People keep posting stats but only to back that point up further.
-
He went injury free all of last year and purely off memory the year before that too. Not to mention he is actually still a very capable rider and very much a no.1 in this league.
-
Bjerre and Pedersen fit the bill for sure

In fairness, I’m not really sure that Rowe exploded onto the scene. Rowe was decent at reserve for Somerset and after a mid season reshuffle got forced into the main body of the side and was decent. I never really saw enough to think Rowe was going to become a top rider like it was expected of Kemp. I think there is something in Rowe to still get to a higher standard but he’s never really going to become World class and probably more of a Worrall standard type rider. Sounds abit harsh but that’s the way I see it. For what it’s worth, I completely agree that it’s a nonsense that if Kemp, Rowe, Thompson etc are ready and available and want a team spot but haven’t because of averages. That should never be allowed to happen. This goes back again to the “rising star” scheme should be a thing in the Championship without question, along with a certain quota of British riders along the same lines as what Poland do.
-
I thought all that was stopped years back when Swindon/Poole were just signing up riders without having ridden for them? After that then it became clear certain riders and teams had abused the system and had signed completely illegally breaking all sorts of immigration rules and laws.
-
Which is an absolute nonsense - why? They are no longer calling themselves Russian. Live and now citizens of another country. Makes no sense for that logic. For what it is worth, that isn’t how I read it.
-
That is taken out of context - that part of the article is a recap of what happened for the 2022 season where Chugonov was allowed to race but both Laguta’s, Sayfutdinov and Tarasenko to name just some were not. It does not say that is what is happening for 2023.
-
It doesn’t say that - it says Russian and Belarus riders aren’t allowed. Technically neither Sayfutdinov and Laguta fall into that bracket anymore so there is no reason for them to be blocked. They have Polish passports and citizenship.
-
Did they block you from using the term ‘Bulldogs’ aswell?

I can’t personally see a huge problem in that. When you’re largely attracting much of the original fan base, I personally still have great memories of times following my team. There is a large spread in the Speedway star today that has been shared on social media. Makes for pretty grim reading but is a fair reflection I think of the events that have unfolded on social media over the past couple of weeks. Brian White seems to come out of it looking much better than Greg Daniels but at the end of the day, with no speedway we are all losers aren’t we? Again, if the report is 100% factual, then anybody who knows the area will know it’s been surrounded by houses in recent years. The likelihood of getting a 20K music venue off the ground seems non existent - but a speedway venue seems much more viable… maybe wishful thinking though!
-
Thanks for that and being so open - Makes for interesting reading and pretty grim reading at the same time, as a fan wanting to see my team back on track. From that post then, as perhaps expected, we can only assume there is no ‘blue chip’ backers involved for the consortium - as there isn’t even a consortium? And all the good news promised is simply pie in the sky. The Hancocks had their faults but at least they ran a tight and steady ship. This whole fiasco is madness.
