I was going to say that the bonus points were removed from averages a while before 2009. So I don't think that's a saving grace either for the relevant riders.
-
Proctor is okay due to his EL average he gained last year for Wolves. Poole on the other hand, isn't okay and has failed to meet the criteria.
-
It also doesn't matter how long his previous work permit was for, as Troy Batchelor has previously said he was in the middle of a 2 year visa which got cancelled and he has had to reapply - likewise will Manzares.
-
Just as I thought - which should technically rule out Smith and Davies then. Rules are rules unfortunately.
-
As quoted here on the BSPA website: http://www.speedwaygb.co/gbe If it was any season then Matt Wethers would of been okay as im certain he's achieved a 7.00 in the past - just not last season and that's why he's been shown the door it seems.
-
Surely your questions 1 and 2 are answered by reading this on a Speedway forum
-
That means nothing. Workington sent the Campton issue to appeal with the BSPA before being told no for a second time. Just goes to show how little some teams have learned as they are still prepared to ignore the rules and criteria set for self interest. Manzares is no different to Campton if as someone mentioned earlier in this thread he failed to finish top 4 in his qualifying meetings back home this winter.
-
The previous incident involving Brady Kurtz had nothing to do with UKV&I as he wasn't a work permit rider. I have no defence for them this season and always said you can't defend the undefendable. Some say the BSPA said they would be a 5.00, others say they said 7.00. The reality is we will probably never know who actually said what.
-
How ironic eh Jenga? First your promotion were quick to open their mouths about Somerset's team in December and yet they've assembled a team with not just one eligible Aussie, but two of them! Not so whiter than white are they now? I along with many others have been saying for weeks that Campton isn't eligible.
-
Which wasn't achieved last year, as per the regulations. The same as Alex Davies whose 7+ average was in 2013.
-
Douglas will be okay as its already been mentioned he finished in the top 3 of a State final at the end of last year. As I previously mentioned Campton didn't meet the required standard, nor does Manzares, Poole and Jack Holder, technically nor does Alex Davies and Kozza Smith too.
-
What happens when they apply for riders who don't meet the requirements again, assuming their sponsors license is accepted - surely that is going to look more incompetent than ever before especially after attending the workshop.
-
That's the whole point, the BSPA aren't the ones setting the rules, that's been the problem in the past. They will do as they are told.
-
Which wasn't attained last season as per the regulations. That was from 2013. The regulations DO NOT say "has attained a 7.00 average before" - it clearly says last season. Why do people not get it? All this "well he did before so he must do now" is wrong - hence the recent problems because of previous errors
-
On what basis is Alex Davies getting a work permit?
-
Like I said, tough luck if he was injured - he should be made to wait until next year when he is fit enough to compete in them and qualify for his work permit that way.
-
In which case he will have to wait until he is fit enough to ride in his state championship. Within the 4 seasons he has had here he has failed to reach the 7.00 target so there is no way allowances should be made because he was injured and couldn't compete in his state title. You are right in that the average doesn't need to be met if the state title criteria is met as per Sedgmen and Douglas - but Poole has done neither.
-
A new visa - as Batchelor has said he has to hand over his passport again. Story here: http://www.speedwaygp.com/_mobile/article/3936/batchs-visa-frustration
-
Troy Batchelor has already said he had a 2 year visa which has effectively been ripped up and he has to reapply. The others will be exactly the same.
-
Somerset could of kept him if they really wanted - but probably started asking the same questions I'm asking on realising he potentially doesn't meet the requirements to get a visa.
-
Of course, I forgot about his stints with Ipswich - admittedly he broke his arm in one of those seasons right at the start of the season, but that's now 4 seasons where he hasn't reached the required standard.
-
Why should it apply? Injury didn't prevent him from achieving a 7.00 average, he wasnt ever near it. Another rider who has ridden over here for two seasons and failed to achieve the required rate. That's a different arguement altogether - as its already been stated at no point over the past few years should any work permit rider have come over here on a 5.00. I believe it's also been said the requirements haven't changed for a number of years, hence the 2009 date.
-
Why don't they? It took me 2 minutes on the BSPA website to find it. You'd also hope the promotion would also know if a rider qualifies too. Rubbish - did his average ever go above 7 last year at any point? The answer is no.
-
Fair point on Sedgmen - he should be okay then. My mistake - I thought he had been injured all winter and I read he had been on crutches but in fact came 3rd in his state final. Jack Holder on the other hand failed to do so.
-
Oky doky, as below: Taylor Poole, Ryan Douglas, Justin Sedgmen, Mason Campton, Alex Davies, Kozza Smith and Gino Manzares. I've seen no evidence to suggest that Jack Holder should be given a work permit too.
